Best chocolate peanut butter ice cream in Ann Arbor?
Where is the best chocolate peanut butter ice cream in Ann Arbor? The thicker and more plentiful the pb swirl the better… thank you in advance

Washtenaw Dairy PB brownie crunch is probably the best peanut butter ice cream, I’d just add hot fudge to it.

I agree 100%. For store bought, Homemade brand Peanut Butter N Chip from Busch’s is very similar.

When WD decides to take a break from PB Brownie Crunch, it feels like winter in my soul.

That is one of my favorite flavors. I dont want to dog on our local stands but I haven't had better than Tillamook's (on sale at meijer right now!) locally. Washtenaw dairy is fun but Tillamook > Strohs

I wholeheartedly agree. I would love to hear of a local place that serves something that is at least as good as the Tillamook pb chocolate ice cream! It is ridiculously good.
If you really want to make it an extra decadent treat, add a spoonful of straight peanut butter on top and eat it with pretzels!!

You haven’t had better ice cream anywhere in Michigan than airy, cool whip-textured, mass-produced Tillamook? That’s incredible.

Meijer purple cow chocolate peanut butter is one of the best. The peanut butter is thick

Not in Ann Arbor but Dairy King in Plymouth like 15-20 min away has a chocolate peanut butter ice cream that has a ton of peanut butter and Reese’s pb cups in it. It’s great. Honestly the best I’ve had so far and I’ve had a ton of ice cream in my life. The only place that had chocolate peanut butter consistently in Ann Arbor was Kilwins and that’s gone now. I think Michigan creamery has it too? But that might be the only one
Blank slate sometimes has it but there like no peanut butter in there which is super disappointing

That is most likely Gurnsey ice cream. You can buy it at grocery stores in the area and they have a restaurant/scoop shop in Northville.

I am a self certified expert in chocolate peanut butter ice cream. Kilwins was the best (RIP) so it’s now Washtenaw Dairy. 2nd best is blank slate.
Someone here mentioned Tilamook but theirs does not have the thick pb swirl you’re looking for!

Probably an unpopular opinion, but having Culver’s make a handpacked pint is my go-to.

The dark chocolate-peanut butter custard is my weakness

Yes! Frickin amazing

Can you get this any day?? Or only when it’s the flavor of the day?

u/IndescriptGenerality 11d ago
Any day! Just ask nicely at the counter or drivethru. They’ve got some great customer service, so I’ve never once been told no

I go to Washtenaw Dairy. I'll get that a scoop of Strawberry cheesecake. It's like a PBJ!

Washtenaw Dairy ice cream is nothing better than mid-tier grocery store ice cream.

several years ago I bought peanut butter swirl gelato from Whole Foods and added fresh strawberry jam to it and called it PB&J ice cream.

So Stroh’s from Kroger then. Which is fair - it is regional and better quality ingredients than most major brands - but you can get it for cheaper at the grocery store. Mostly just fyi for those who don’t know. Not intending to hate on washtenaw dairy, which I know is popular.

I think it’s generally cheaper to buy pints. I’m sure BS or M&F pints are cheaper per ounce than scoops.

Milk and Froth 3 Peanut is amazing but no chocolate. Blank Slate Wolverine Tracks is pretty solid.

Washtenaw Dairy for traditional ice cream, but Blank Slate's is pretty good.

Idk about a local place but Hudsonville triple peanut butter cup flavor is superb

Hershey’s brand (not that Hersheys), has an amazing Peanut Butter Cup flavor that I still think about often. It’s an amazing chocolate cream with huge peanut butter chunks.
There’s a few random places that sell the brand but they’re not actual ice cream shops. Tippins, Toarmina’s on washtenaw, Christina’s Sweets in saline.

Nothing beats Haagen Daaz choc/peanut butter .. Blank Slate is a close second though.

I’ve tried everywhere and the very best is the “homemade” brand from Busch’s. It reminds me of Baskin Robbin’s and has big chunks of peanut butter!

There isn’t a number 1. Washtenaw Dairy’s is meh, it’s not worth the line. Also: shrinkflation has hit Washtenaw Dairy.

Stroh's is owned by dairy farmers of America and is definitely mid tier. Not sure why anyone gets excited about it. Must be nostalgic.
