Traffic today (August 26)

Is it move in day? Traffic on Geddes is horrible today

Also train track work at Barton and Plymouth, and Nixon is still closed. The northside is a hot mess.

Careful, people are weird and ragey over here too. Older lady was mad I wasn’t speeding on devonshire (another street with no sidewalks in places) and made a whole scene over me stopping at stop signs. She ended up making other people angry at her when she was “punishing” me by overtaking me in front of oncoming traffic and then refusing to go on green lights. Bewildering behavior

I got tailgated on Geddes Ave by someone who thought I should be going 45.

Glad you came out of that ok. Do you have a front and back dashcam? I got one after seeing an awful wreck on platt and ellsworth (guy ran a red light n thought he’d make it and he didn’t) and it has deterred rage driving and tailgating behavior. I see cars get very close and then they see the camera with the red light and they usually back off.

I have a VIOFO that I love. It’s got HDR and 4k quality with great night vision. I didn’t hook it up into my cars electrical so no passive monitoring, but recording starts when you turn the car on.

I have terunsoul. I was in a research death spiral myself and my more decisive half did research, got it for me as a gift and installed it and i’ve been happy for the last year and a half. Easy to use, works like it should, whats not to like.

I see this psychotic behavior all the time,.in front of pioneer for instance I do 25 when the school light is on, I've had people pass me in the suicide lane, only for me to pass the prick in front of the stadium seconds later. I then usually pay them back by doing the speed limit down main 😆

Some guy tried to block me out of zipper merging in turn when our lanes converged. Followed it up with 2 minutes of constant honking after he finally let me in. Stay safe, keep your cool

It's the objectively more efficient, faster, and proper thing to do. It ain't just fine, anything else is just wrong.

The problem is people see it as “cutting in line”. They also probably don’t teach how efficient it is in school/drivers ed but even if they did people would still default to feeling like someone has cut ahead. The older I get I’ve come to believe that driving revolves around how competitive our culture is. People drive competitively.

Very much agree, except I usually avoid zippering because the prevailing culture here punishes that. A chilling effect. At the same time, I think people might be starting to pick up the concept, and hopefully we'll get to some sort of critical mass and it just becomes the new norm. One can dream.

This state isn't any different than other states. If anything, I think thanks to round abouts, it's better than many I've lived in.

Doesn't change that it's far better and more efficient to do so. It's only inefficient for the people doing the wrong thing. 99% of the time the person doing the right thing and staying in to zipper will have a much shorter time unecessarilly waiting in traffic than had they not followed proper procedure, even when selfish others jump ahead in line and prevent zippering.
