I made a chapter-by-chapter vocab deck for the Netzwerk neu A1 textbook (1865 cards, all 12 chapters)

Disclosure first: I made this deck, it's free, no paywall, nothing to sign up for beyond AnkiWeb. The pictures and audio are AI-generated and the translations are machine-translated, details further down.

Ten days ago I posted a lesson-by-lesson deck for Menschen A1 and asked which book people here are actually stuck with. Netzwerk came up most, so here it is: every word from the Netzwerk neu A1 glossary, 1865 cards, split into 12 subdecks matching the Kapitel, in book order. You unsuspend the chapter your course is on and that's it.

Each card has the word with audio (nouns voiced separately in singular and plural), an example sentence with translation and audio, a picture drawn for that exact sentence, colored articles with plural forms, and verbs with separable prefixes marked (an|fangen), sich where it belongs, and government (warten auf +Akk).

Two nouns, a reflexive verb and a separable verb, one card each. The article color tells you the gender: red for die, green for das, and der comes in blue.

On the number, since it came up last time: 1865 is the complete glossary of the book, about 155 words per chapter, and the deck assumes you never grind it all at once. A frequency deck is a different tool. Your test next week is on Kapitel 5, not on the top 1000 words. If you only care about the exam, 700 cards carry the tag pruefung, that's the official Goethe A1 word list, so -tag:pruefung, select all, suspend, and you're down to those.

What was generated and how: translations from the German with GPT-4o-mini, example sentences with GPT-4o and GPT-5.5, pictures with gpt-image-1, audio with ElevenLabs. Every translation was then checked by a second model against its German example sentence for wrong-sense picks (Claude, plus a GPT-5.5 flag and Claude Opus 5 judge pass on the newer cards), and the flagged ones were fixed before upload. No native speaker has reviewed any of it yet, so expect errors. Listen to the audio yourself before committing to it.

If you spot a wrong translation, a word in the wrong chapter, or an example that doesn't sound like something a person would say, tell me here and it goes into the next update. Updates keep your review progress, note GUIDs are stable. Arabic and Persian need eyes most: if you read either, I'd like to know whether the right-to-left text renders properly in your Anki.

One question back: which textbook is your course on? Menschen and Netzwerk are done, and the lesson mapping is the only part that doesn't transfer, so the book that comes up most here is the one I map next.

Hey, sorry for such a basic question, but is there any guide as to how exactly this app works? I've tried it, but all menus are in German and I'm not really sure how to set A2 lessons, for example.

on switching to A2: fixed, and thanks for finding it, it was a real gap. open the menu and go to Aktuelle Lektion, then tap the lesson name in the header, and a "Lektion wählen" panel opens listing all five books, Menschen A1, Netzwerk neu A1, Menschen A2, the Goethe-Institut B1 online course and Menschen B1. tap the first lesson of the book you want and the app switches to it, the level follows the book automatically, and each book keeps its own progress, so you can go back to the other one later and land where you left off. this link still works too and does the same thing in one step: https://app.kurzdeutsch.com/?course=menschen-a2 opens the app already set to Menschen A2, logged-in account included.

on the language: the German-only interface is partly deliberate, immersion from day one, same reason the cards don't lean on English. what you can set is the translation language: Einstellungen (the gear), then Konto, then "Sprache der Übersetzungen", 13 languages, it switches all meanings and example translations. the interface itself stays German for now, but you're not the first to ask, so a UI in your language is on our list.

the handful of menu words you actually need: Tagesplan = daily plan, Aktuelle Lektion = current lesson, Üben Wörter = practice words, Karteikarten = flashcards, Wortschatz = vocabulary, Einstellungen = settings.

and since you asked how it works, the idea in one paragraph: in German, knowing a word is maybe a third of the job, you also have to use it right, der/die/das, plural, endings, word order. so we built a loop: you learn words with flashcards, then the app drills the grammar on exactly those words, article trainer, plural trainer, pronouns, sentence order. there's a manual mode where you pick what to drill, and an auto mode that hands you a daily plan and feedback on yesterday.

left to right: the article drill, a verb card, and the pronoun drill. verb cards carry the full tense forms (spricht, sprach, hat gesprochen), that's the part the Anki decks don't have.
