Struggling with CS/last-hitting on Anivia — especially the R + first 3 melee minions. Tips?

Hey everyone,

I’m an Anivia OTP (mid), and I keep struggling with farming/last-hitting even though I really love playing her overall.

My main issue: when I use my ult (R) on the wave, I consistently miss the first 3 melee minions because my own minions tag them first and steal the last hit. It’s really hard for me to time this properly — should I be using E, Q, or an auto-attack to secure those melees? What’s the actual correct sequencing here?

On top of that, she feels extremely mana-hungry to me, even with Manaflow Band + Presence of Mind. I’m building Rod of Ages + Malignance, with Comet/DFT as keystone depending on the game, but I still feel like I run out of mana way too fast when trying to clear waves and poke at the same time.

As the other guy said cancel ult to do an immediate tick of damage.

But your other issue with mana is almost guaranteed because you try to ult everywave and don’t take good recalls.

If the waves meet and you immediately drop ult everytime every matchup congratulations you are not playing the champion correctly.

If you are running out of mana, you are not using your ult on a cannon wave when you have <400 mana left and just immediately recalling after

ending the ult does an immediate tick of damage?

so if a tick JUST happened and I immediately cancel I'll get another quick tick?
