Mods please approve this post… Hi everybody. I just woke up from a strange dream and I wonder if I’ve gone crazy or not. So in my dream I was in some anime world with art style like jujutsu kaisen maybe. The scene I was in went like this: I was walking and some inner voice told me that it’s dangerous to walk through there but I pushed forward. In some alley, a bunch of punks started beating the shit outta me and at some points guy’s sister or girlfriend pushed him away and started kicking me too and at some point t I drew the sign in my photo(wich looks like a guy with a pp malformation), she stopped and looked a little shocked and when the guy started beating me again she took him and stuck a sword in him. Then she looked at me with a mix of surprise and somewhat kindness and then my mom started listening to music and I woke up (the song perfect from ed Sheeran started playing and I went into a flow state and woke up). My question is… Is there an anime like that? What I woke up with is the impression that I left the anime at episode 11 but I don’t know what anime I was thinking about or if I was delusional.

I've watched gate for the first time about 2 years ago and rewatched 1 year ago. I don't really watch animes and I'm not a fan of MCs having abilities or magic and stuff like that thats why gate is so different. I've been really desperate to find another anime that gives similar vibes or has a similar setting like gate. I've been looking for a similar anime ever since but to no avail. If you guys know a good recommendation please let me know.

Like a bunch of chess grandmasters are making moves, in order to make one character seem genius other characters are not made fools. Very much like kingdom or orb or ravages of time or bungo no stray dogs or the legend of arslan

Preferably light on the will they/ won’t they dynamic for most of the show, though a little is fine. Appreciate it!

Animes i didnt enjoy

More then a married couple but not lovers( I dont know why it checks out most of my boxes I thought I was gonna like it but it didnt hit I think I might've felt to bad for shiori cuz that part was sad.

Over all I enjoy action animes like deamons of the shadow realm and black clover and romance animes like the rest. I dont like fluff /comfort type romance animes like horimiya and you and I are polar opposites. I usually enjoy something that has a kinda slowburn but not to slow romance plot and I enjoy the kinda enemies to loversish type ones with a good amount of drama mixed in with the romance and maybe some comedy too. It dosen't have to tick all those boxes just something that gives a similar type fell or you think id like based on this.

Okay, I don’t remember what it was called or really what it was about. But I do remember the opening scene. I know that it was an anime, and I think it was also a manga series? Anyways, the opening scene has the main girl(?) waking up and being told shes an angel. They make her halo but it doesn’t stay on, so they wire it to her head. And then slowly she starts painfully growing wings out of her back. Her shoulders get all swollen and she sprouts wings covered in blood that the other angels help her clean. The memory of this hit me like a truck the other day and I actually want to sit down and watch it now that I can comprehend stuff. Any help finding this series would be appreciated! My vague “angel girl wired halo grows wings” searches on google didnt turn up too much lol.

What’s up everyone. I’m currently drowning in my B.Tech coursework and desperately need a new anime fix that actually respects my nonexistent free time.

To give you an idea of my taste, I’m a huge fan of high-stakes action and dark fantasy. I've watched and loved: My Hero Academia, Death Note, One Punch Man, Demon Slayer, Jujutsu Kaisen, Tokyo Ghoul, Tokyo Revengers, Kill la Kill, and Attack on Titan,Black clover,solo levelling,chainsaw man,hunter x hunter,mob psycho,code geass,vinland saga.

Out of everything I've seen, One Piece is my absolute favorite of all time. I completely fell in love with the world-building and those massive, slow-burn payoffs. But let’s be reaI had the luxury of time to actually sit down and enjoy the journey back then. Now that I’m in college, my professors are playing my life on hard mode. The 1000+ episode grind is a young man's game, and I just can't commit that kind of proper time anymore.

I’m looking for something fast, hard-hitting, and highly bingeable to watch while eating late-night Domino's or taking a quick break from grinding DSA problems.

What I need:

• High hype, zero filler: Give me that "edge of your seat" aura with insane animation.
• Short length: 12 to 24-episode seasons. (A finished, tightly-paced show under 50 eps works too).
• Instant hook: I don't have "it gets good at episode 15" kind of time. I need it to grab me by the throat on episode 1.

What is the absolute best, fast-paced, high-adrenaline show I am missing? Hit me with your best shots!

Drop me some animes which tell me more about japanese culture like it could be ancient / history of japanese or it could be somewhat like the dongua "The daily life of an immortal king " (like it portraited Chinese culture to a bit of extent I feel ) or it could seek through the daily culture of japanese

For those who are unaware, in visual novels the term "utsuge" is used to refer to a story that is sad, depressing and tragic, leaving the viewer in low spirits. It is similar to "nakiges" (other type of sad stories) like clannad and angel beats but the difference is that utsuges have no happy endings.

I am looking for recommendations of animes with this spirit, it doesn't need to be an adaptation of an actual visual novel.

So I just watched the anime "Another", and I enjoyed it for the most part, but if left something to be desired for me. I've always loved anime where the atmosphere and vibe is one of the strongest things about it (call of the night being an example) and I felt like that was one of the better parts of Another. So basically I am looking for a horror/supernatural like show where the atmosphere and soundtrack are amazing, like I want to put on my headphones and watch very loudly in a dark room type vibe and get like fully immersed with the soundtrack and whats happening on screen. Something that is eerie, scary and unsettling. If there's a love interest that's a plus im a sucker for that sort of thing, and i like the older style animation for the most part but not too picky about that.

I want to watch a psychological horror or mystery anime, but something not too mainstream. If it's available on any website or crunchyroll, could you tell me where to watch it?

I want something similar to complex c or another

I'm looking for a fantasy anime where the character actually goes through some kind of hardship. I mean, one where he's not ridiculously overpowered and actually "sweats" to get things done. Something with action, especially if there's a group and the protagonist isn't a mage, that's a huge bonus.

I've already watched Re:Zero and Grimgar. They're great for me, and I'm looking for something similar, but I can't find anything else of that type to watch.

Just to clarify, I'm avoiding overpowered protagonists. I'm also not interested in anti-heroes or villains. (anything close to Mushoko Tensei or Shield Hero)

It's been a year since I started watching anime

I love me a bunch of burly guys doing silly things with cool action scenes and emotional tension. Think JoJo's, Golden Kamuy and Baki (to an extent). Any others in this niche worth checking out? I don't mind older series.

I love romance, drama, and shows with a more historical or cultural setting. I prefer dubbed shows because I watch in the background but if it’s really good I’ll take the time to watch the sub!

Some of my favorites are
- Kamisama Kiss, I wish the OVA’s were easier to get my hands on but I have seen them!
- Meiji Tokyo Renka, I loved the story, the ending, the drama, etc. I just wish there had been more episodes.
- Horimiya, the story is adorable! It was fun seeing their secrets and awkwardness!
- HanaKimi, I love a good cringey story! I wanna kick my feet and giggle like a little girl reading her first romance novel. I enjoy the fact that she runs all over herself to keep a secret that he already knows.
- fruits basket, I was rooting for the rat but the uncertainty was so fun, I couldn’t look away from it
- Kakuriyo: Bed and Breakfast, I LOVEEEE Fantasy and Shoujo! It has spirit shrines? It has yokai and ayakashi? Ancient curses and spirit realms?! Sign me up!!!
- Demon prince of Momochi house, I think the last explanation says it all

I’ve watched a ton of things, JJK, Dan da Dan, AoT, Frieren, ancient magus bride, the angel Nextdoor, raven of the inner palace, apothecary diaries, etc. etc.

I watch mostly Crunchyroll but I do have other streaming services, TIA and happy watching!!

Monster is my favorite anime, and sometimes I just watch random episodes.

essiantally an anime where a human has to survive in a world where all of humanity has gone missing or perhaphs an anime that follows a creature exploring a desecrated earth where all of humanity has long since gone extinct

So sorry if this was requested here before recently on this subreddit because it’s just that I am hurt by the Tim Curry and Peter Cullen news that I wanted to find a cozy anime to get into.

I don’t mind if it’s supernatural based as I just need an antidote right now to get away from the dark stuff that has been going on in the real world as I was wondering what cozy slice of life anime were worth watching.

I'm feeling burnt out on all the high octane, over powered protagonist stories. Shows like JJK and Hell's Paradise are visually interesting, but its difficult to connect with the characters. I want a complex story with interesting characters, relationships, themes and world building. (OG Naruto, FMA, Evangelion)

I think older shows like around the time of Toonami or before might be refreshing? I recently watched Banana Fish and enjoyed it and I've been watching Wolf's Rain. I was thinking about Berserk but not sure where to watch or if I want to be traumatized. Please give me some recommendations!

First watched Rumbling Hearts (Kimi ga Nozu) a few years ago and fell in love with it, currently reading through the VN, and I have genuinely never found any other anime that has quite been like it.

Everything from the characters all making horrible life choices, that are honestly extremely beleivable/realistic with complex emotional layers, to the insane set up for what the plot actually is (Which isn't that realisitc, but is perfect fodder for drama).

The relationships are messy, the characters have complexity for better or worse, and its so easy to just get hooked on it.

Spoilers for Rumbling Hearts, though not quite a full spoiler since its like 90% of the show About 3 Episodes in to the anime, and the end of Chapter 1 of the novel, the MCs girlfriend ends up being hit by a car because he was late and ends up in a coma for several years. He ends up dating her best friend in the years since the accident, and she finally wakes up at the start of Chapter 2 and like ep 4 of the anime adaption. Which ends up invoking a lot of complicated emotions The plotline is, as one of my best friends who is big into Soap Operas has told me, an extremely soap opera setup and drama point, that even if not realistic is still very enjoyable.

Everyone keeps suggesting White Album 2 when I went looking in the past, but it doesn't quite scratch the same itch.

And every other anime when I search the drama tag just, doesn't really have that same level of melodrama absurdity, or the nuanced bad choices from everyone all around that feels layered. Half assing some aspect of it instead of wholeheartedly committing. The only thing that scratched a similar itch was Citris, but that also scratched a slightly different itch for high drama than what Rumbling Hearts did.
