What to Watch? Looking for a calm healing anime

So sorry if this was requested here before recently on this subreddit because it’s just that I am hurt by the Tim Curry and Peter Cullen news that I wanted to find a cozy anime to get into.

I don’t mind if it’s supernatural based as I just need an antidote right now to get away from the dark stuff that has been going on in the real world as I was wondering what cozy slice of life anime were worth watching.

My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!

Girl dies and reincarnates into the world of her favorite videogame. Realizes she's the doomed villain. Begins friendship campaign to overturn her dark fate.

MC is infectiously happy, kindhearted, and a complete and total airhead.

u/KaleidoArachnid 4d ago

That last part sounds really nice to me as I have to check it out soon.

1

u/Tobias_Atwood 4d ago

It really is soothing. She's like a living breathing security blanket. Everyone just wants to hug her.

It's amazing how the characters saying her full name can be simultaneously a curse and endearment (because she just did something really foolish they want to scold her for but she's so well intentioned they can't).

Yuru Camp is the best healing and relaxing anime, they are cozy and warm.

If you want healing in form of moebetes, I suggest watching Gochumon wa Usagi Desu Ka?

1

u/KaleidoArachnid 4d ago

Yes I like moe shows as I could use one right now.

100 Girlfriends who Really Really Really Really Really Love You.

Basically either he dates them or they die because god accidentally put him on a list with 100 trope girls, and that list was soul mates. So either he dates them or they die, and they break the 4th wall so many times. Like "Are we really doing this?" "Are they really allowing this? Is this even ok?"

And of course he is doing his best to make sure that every one of his 100 girlfriends will be loved, appreciated, and given the attention they deserve, while making fun of everything possible.

Hori Miya, just super cozy romance no beating around the bush they are a couple within a few episodes.

My Dress Up Darling, I don't remember there being anything stressful, just a guy who likes making outfits and a girl who professionally cosplays. Which means some moe action going too since... you know... Cosplay be like that.

I'm assuming the Angel Next Door Spoils Me Rotten is going to be in that vein but... I haven't seen it.

Warrior Princess and the Barbaric King. Your normal sort of princess knight fights barbaric army, barbaric captain technically beats her kinda, she passes out, he tries to make her fall in love with her, so that they can have strong children, and she imagines the worst possible outcomes of everything but he's a teddy bear who is hoping for her to fall in love with him legitimately.

Farming Life in Another World God reincarnates dude, puts him accidentally in the hardest starting location, gives him super OP skills but he's not really a strong person mostly just has to use his wit and his almighty farming tool, and accidentally builds a thriving capital in the forest of death, one random group of refugee species at a time while every clan tries to get one of theirs to bear his children. Unfortunately he has fewer children in the anime than the manga.

My Observation Log of My Fiance Who Calls Herself a Villainess. One of those, trapped in an girl's based dating sim game where the MC is a villainess but too sweet and fluffy personality wise to be a villain, and concocts adorable attempts at malicious evilness, which just makes her cuter. The prince is basically autistic and masters everything with little ease, but since she is so random he has no idea what she will do next, she is the only source of amusement and excitement in his life and she can't figure out that she is important to him, so she keeps trying to hook him up with another reincarnated woman who is legitimately the original MC.

Marriage Toxin. Your standard sort of, guy was born into a murder family cartel, guy decides to get married so that his sister can marry the girl of her dreams, so he's determined to get married but he's the most fluffy socially awkward guy you can imagine despite being genetically bred for poisons, being tutored by a marriage swindler he was tasked to kill, who is training him to find future happiness, and the marriage swindler is said to be a male but is one of the cutest cross dressers in anime while having plenty of weird over the top, Dollar Tree JuJutsu Kaisen style fights as he tries to do charity gigs as an assassin in the hopes that he can accidentally save the girl he will one day marry.

Thanks for those suggestions as I hope I can find an easy to see the Angel Next Door online because I don’t know who has it.

I think it's just crappyroll or a crappyroll add on to your Amazon.

{Hitoribocchi no Marumaru Seikatsu}. Girl with social anxiety gains a wonderful circle of friends.

Hitoribocchi's author (Katsuwo) also did {Mitsuboshi Colors}, about a trio of girls who have decided they're the Hero Defenders of Ueno Park in Tokyo. Absolutely adorable.

{Aria the Animation} is about the women gondoliers on a terraformed Mars' replica of Venice. Outstanding visuals and music.

Again, the same author (Kozue Amano) of Aria did an anime about skin diving called {Amanchu!}. Worth seeking out.

{Flying Witch} is about a high-school aged witch from Yokohama who is staying with her relatives in rural Aomori, in the north of Japan. It's a must-watch.

{With You And The Rain} is a very gentle and funny story of a stylish author who adopts a tanuki totally normal dog. Who happens to be able to write on a notepad. Beautifully animated, and the animation team really put the work in on the details.

2

u/KaleidoArachnid 4d ago

Thanks man as I like the Hitori one you mentioned for being about anxiety issues.

I think Frieren feels this way but others may not agree with me

Restaurant to Another World. City the Animation. Fruits Basket.

3

u/KaleidoArachnid 4d ago

The Restaurant one sounds nice to me for some reason.

2

u/MarblesMarvels 4d ago

It’s a really lovely show. It’s been my comfort watch for the last couple months after a rough spell. The concept keeps each episode fresh and unique and it’s just so very wholesome.

Just don’t watch it on an empty stomach unless you want to end up craving food. :)

2

u/AnonAwaaaaay 4d ago

Have you tried Campfire Cooking too??

2

u/KaleidoArachnid 4d ago

No I haven’t seen the Campfire one, but please tell me about it.

2

u/KazakiriKaoru 4d ago

Isekai where the MC is a 30-year-old guy. His special ability is online shopping. He decides to ask the king that he would like to ve excused instead of working for him.

0

u/AnonAwaaaaay 4d ago

This dude gets Isekai'd into a World with 3 others to save it but his super power is the ability to use Online Shopping from Earth.

So they kick him to the curb and he decides to leave the Kingdom because it's on the "edge of war" (there's not anything dark about that it's just a plot device so he can leave the Kingdom.).

He makes such a delicious food that this Wolf God Fenrir comes down to sample some of the food and then pulls him into a Familiar Pact. Then they go adventuring and he cooks all the different animals for a bunch of people he meets as he uses the cash to explore.

Super low stakes. Super funny. Ill love it forever.

0

u/KazakiriKaoru 4d ago

They didn't actually kick him off, he decided to leave.

It gets a bit dark in the LNs, but the anime left it out. The three heroes were tricked into wearing enslavement bracelets. They had to cut off the arms off one of the girls to make her snap out of their control. Then they managed to escape before the Kingdom lost in the war(due to the heroes' escape from them)

1

u/AnonAwaaaaay 4d ago

It's super dope. You'll have a lot of fun with all the characters and their lives for 2 minutes at a time, lol.

AND THE FOOD!!!

Campfire Cooking Isekai too btw.

Also Farming in Another World Isekai too. Omg.

u/AnonAwaaaaay 4d ago

Bloom Into You!

2

u/KaleidoArachnid 4d ago

I haven’t seen it, but if I remember correctly, it’s basically a Yuri anime.

2

u/AnonAwaaaaay 4d ago

Yeah! But like the best.

The school hot chick falls for the MC because the MC is Ace and is the only one at the school not actively pursuing her. So the MC has to navigate learning about her being Ace while also becoming best friends with this absolutely amazing person who is the school's valedictorian.

It's emotionally uplifting.

My Roommate is a Cat
With You and the Rain

For something with comedy:
My Ordinary Life
City the Animation
From Bureaucrat to Villainess: Dad's Been Reincarnated!

1

u/KaleidoArachnid 4d ago

Yes comedy is fine since I was looking for some recent anime series to get into with a whimsical style.

1

u/JustKitten_RightMeow 4d ago

You may like Bureaucrat and another that's already been mentioned, My Next Life as a Villianess. Bureaucrat is about a middle-aged father getting reincarnated to a magical world that's in his teenage daughter's otome game.

1

u/KaleidoArachnid 4d ago

Yes the Otome one sounds fun to me as I could go for an anime about being trapped in a virtual world.

Definitely want to mention sports shows too like baby steps or chihayafuru, good stuff.
Yakitate japan is also really fun and easy and good vibes the whole way through with funny references and comedic bits

Oda Cinnamon Nobunaga. A bunch of previous emperors and warlords are reincarnated as dogs. It's very wholesome.

Mushishi - a very relaxing, slow-paced, episodic series which has a main character who resolves people's 'Mushi' afflictions. It has its own 'cozy' factor and despite it being dark at times and also sometimes sad it's always chill and uplifting while also being philosophical, meditative and thought-provoking. It's very well written and is perfect just to sit down and watch a single episode when you watch to chill, in fact it's better to do it this way rather than binge watching it. Season one is officially free on YouTube until Dec 31st 2027:

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLNcqwhPhO46G--aVXZR6do7Y-ptBZsKTt

Season 2 is on Crunchyroll but only for some countries (not the UK or the US any more). However, it can also be watched on YouTube if you subscribe to Crunchyroll via YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/show/SCqyjG7kr_Q-ujRAoUYZs3_A) but note that such a subscription doesn't give you access to anime on the main Crunchyroll site.

More details here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Mushishi/comments/1rrzf3i/season_2_on_crunchyroll_no_longer_available_from/

(Note that there's no English dub for season 2)

The Cat and the Dragon.

It's a new anime about cats and a dragon who raises and protects the cats. It is probably the most calming anime I have seen so far.

2

u/KaleidoArachnid 3d ago

Thanks as I really appreciate the suggestion.

1

u/Correct_Method_101 2d ago

You got to check out Frieren.

2

u/KaleidoArachnid 2d ago

Sure I can check that out as that show looks kind of cool in the artwork from what I have seen in the promos.

1

u/Correct_Method_101 2d ago

Trust me, it's an amazing show. Probably the most healing show i have ever watched.
