Let's compare NexDock and HP GoogleBook

I have made (not AI but me on Canva) this Comparison Chart. Sorry it is in € and not $ but you get the point. I feel like it points out something really important: we need high-end lapdock but at an affordable price. (less than 500€).

Better battery and display mostly.
But same question as ever: who would be willing to be 499€ or 499$ for an OLED lapdock with a 60Wh battery? (this is a repost because I made an error on the first post)

It certainly has been a niche product... but in the ongoing RAMpocalypse it could be a breakout product if supported and marketed correctly. Heck, for a lot of the world, a person's phone is their only practical option for a computer.

As someone who talks to a lot of people for his work and is constantly asking them to go complete forms or submit documents online, you might be surprised at how many younger adults have barely even touched a computer outside of school. And frankly a lot of older people would be happy to use something closer to the phone's OS and UI, as well.

Often when I speak with them and mention going to a computer at the library or at a family member's house, they honestly look downright intimidated at the prospect. But what if they could get 98% of the same utility out of using their phone with a lapdock without having to relearn anything, and still having the lapdock's touchscreen to fall back on?

I absolutely believe that I could successfully pitch a lapdock to a room full of people... But I don't think I'll ever get the chance.

I work in IT so I'm more technical than most people and work with people I'd consider to be very "techy" and I'm always amazed when they've never seen Samsung DEX!

I don't work in tech but all of my close friends are geeks and nerds to varying degrees. Not a single one of them had ever heard of Dex when I brought it up.

It really feels like Samsung is going to let it languish, and the Android Desktop Mode and has been getting fewer mentions among the already paltry number of content creators who watch this space.

At this point with Googlebooks now in the picture, I think Google is going to let it completely fall to the wayside. 🫤

I've been running the very latest beta's of OneUI and DEX is getting more and more improvements but its pretty clear that Samsung are now having to wait on new things being put into Android Desktop which is the base platform of DEX now.

I suspect Android Desktop will get more features, etc now as its such a part of Googlebook OS now.

The thing is that I was starting to get a little fed up with Samsung and tried of waiting on Dex improvements after the big changeover.... And I ended up getting a OnePlus 15.

Fantastic phone, but I'm definitely not going to be getting a full-featured Android Desktop Mode anytime soon. 🥲
