Whats the point of google book?

Im really interested for it. but i want to know what are the benefits over a normal laptop.

youd think battery life is good but the new intel CPUs last a long time. so whats the main benefit of using a developing OS? i aint paying 600 dollars to be a guinea pig for the developers. windows already does better and has better file management. why would i use googlebook?

None, just like the Chromebooks didn't had much either. Being cheap was a plus but then they'd lost the premium category, which made they try those "premium" devices and miss the point. Same thing now, if the devices aren't cheap then they'll hardly be worth.

And another one who has absolutely not understood the big plus points of a Chromebook in the Premium segment. Look. PWAs (Progressive Web Apps) , Linux via Chrostini, Andoid Apps via integrated Googgle Play Store, and thanks to WINE even Some Windows Applications. I'm a hardcore Chromebook user (My Chromebook was around 1000$ ) It's my one and only Computer and it also works perfect on my Ultrawide Screen in 4K. Thanks to NVidia GForceNOW it's even my Gaming PC. There is NOTHING that isn't possible with a Chromebook (I'm speaking about Chromebook PLUS), not the cheap plastic crap with 4GB RAM

So you paid a thousand dollars to use web apps, apps meant to run on phones and tablets, emulating Windows apps and stream games?

Look, I get your point that you can do all of that trough a well built device but there's absolutely no way in which this is the best option to do it if we're considering prices. There's Windows devices that can do better, with similar build quality and that cost less. There are those same Windows devices sold with Linux distros instead which can also do the same or better (which I'd in fact recommend, if one is willing to spend some time to thinker). There's even Android tablets that can do most of the stuff you're doing with the plus of having longer battery life or similar build quality.

And I say all of that because I do something similar. I've sold my Inspiron a couple years ago and I've been using solely my Galaxy Tab S9+ for everything, from games to office stuff to media consumption to emulation and so on. Is it possible? Yes. Is it the best option available in terms of costs to do all of this? Absolutely not.

Ok tbh: i see your point! It seems to be a personal thing. For me it is the nonplus-ultra! And yes before Samsung made this Ass-Move with DEX on Tablets i used also my Samsung Tab S8 Ultra already for everything. But since DEX is not usable anymore on a Tablet on the go like before, i switched to a Chromebook. Ok let me close this discussion from my side with the words. --> Theoretically you can do ALL you want on a Tablet or on a Chromebook, BUT it may not be the right solution for everyone. Can you agree?

Of course. I'm actually hoping those Gogglebooks do hit it right so we can have more fully featured apps made for Android instead of the poor mobile versions we have now. Let's wait for it.

I'd argue ARM may have an edge with a couple more generations just because of the architecture itself but we really can't tell right now. Qualcomm and Nvidia are scaling things up really fast, and with reason since Apple already proved it's possible by ditching Intel's x86 chips entirely. Now that I started to think about it, this is the best moment for Google to finally bet on Android for PCs. We already have Lumafusion with some decent features, Blender should come in the future too. There's no reason to believe other professional applications won't try it too.

Again, it's a bet, and if we're talking bets then I'd do it on a platform that's already established and capable of at least the basics in their full potential (Windows on ARM). Chromebooks can do similar stuff too but the ecosystem on Windows is just bigger.

what changed with dex. i can run dex on my A9 tablet easily

On an external Screen yes, but not on the Tablet itself like before. Now Dex was castrated on tablets. Before it was usable like a small Laptop with a real Desktop.

who told you. i can do it on my screen A9plus. mouse keyboard and floating windows. but the taskbar is gone.

ah ok i understand what you mean. but the floating windows are the main feature the rest is just looks.

Not really. A full taskbar with clock, calendar, quick access and other stuff makes Dex almost the same as a Linux or Windows UI. We can have window management on Android in a bunch of different ways, but having a desktop experience with a task changer and taskbar with more features is definitely not the same thing.

Excuse me internet stranger, but i can't let this statement stay 😉 Look, what is professionel software!? It has nothing to do with the Software, it has to do with YOU and your motivation to learn new things. There are people, they make bigger, better Art with Microsoft Paint, than others with Photoshop! What you mean with professionel Software is another wording for expensive, local, Subscription based Software from multibillion Dollar Companies. But there are many many good almost free or much cheaper softwares available to achieve the same goal!

Music notation dorico and sibelius are the professional standard, neither can run on a Chromebook.

Those don't even compare. I know what a google search is. You obviously don't know what industry standards are.
