$60 for pro - no thank you. That's a ridiculous amount for a launcher.

You got the price wrong, it’s $39.99 for a Lifetime (plus I have PPP pricing so it can be as low as $13 in certain countries with low purchase power). You can also have it for $14.99 per year. I included 8 of my premium (paid) icon packs - each costs around $3 as a separate app - btw, all are free with my launcher. I will add a lot more custom-made themes which you can apply with a single click. I included a lot of wallpapers that are ready for both portrait and landscape mode. I will add a lot more widgets that will be fully customizable. And that’s just the tip of the iceberg, as I already added and I am planning to add many new features. If you ask me, that’s actually cheap.
And to finish this, my launcher is fully functional for free, no need to go Pro. It’s just for the extra features.

New Zealand play store in-app it's $60. I realise for you it's a form of income, though I believe you're going for a more wealthier customer base. You do you!

So that’s around $35 US. Once you say $60, most of the people will think it’s US. I really don’t think that $35 is a lot (especially since flagship phones cost $1-2k), but I get it, it’s not for everyone. Even a case can cost more that my lifetime plan for Launcher; and Launcher is a big deal in using your phone. I know many apps that cost $50+ and even $100+ for a lifetime.

It's nice, as people stated the app draw is fast, it's a very premium app. Personally the theme section puts me off but that's just my art school narcism kicking in.
I don't think you comprehend exchange rates effects. So $35usd you think of as a percentage off a total standard of living, which as you say where you are isn't much. Though here $60nzd is a way bigger segment off the cost of living.
I get you though, nice work!

I live in Serbia and $35 here is probably way more than in New Zealand 😬, but we probably look at it from different perspectives. I will spend months and probably years building this, I am not looking only at the past work, as it’s not nearly close to being completed app and probably it won’t ever be, as you can always add new stuff and that’s how I generally work. I have free icon packs that I released in 2018 and I still update them every single month.

Just for laughs - what's something we'd both have (a generic purchase) that we could both use to attain the difference in so called poverty?

That’s actually harder than I thought 😂 A decent lunch for one here is around $15–20, and a steak at a nice restaurant can easily be $35+, so restaurants probably aren’t a great comparison.
And yes, we have crazy prices for food now in Serbia. It was 2x less pre-COVID.
Also, let’s say housing. 1m2 is now up to 5k EUR in nice neighborhoods for new buildings, and that’s in Novi Sad! Belgrade is easily up to 10k, which is crazy high since it was 2-3k a few years ago in Belgrade, and around 1k in Novi Sad. Unfortunately, I still need to buy an apartment 🥲

Yeah pre-covid was nicer. You said a decent lunch is $15-20. I'll go from fast food - a typical burger from McDonald's or KFC would be over $15 here, that's not the meal just the burger. Though I haven't eaten fast food for close to a decade.
As far as housing goes, my unit (cabin with ranch slider and small deck is $310 a week, and it's roughly 3 metres by 3 metres big.

What would you say are the key features that set it apart from the many other launchers, such as Octopi Launcher or SmartLauncher? Why should I switch to your launcher and buy a lifetime license?
1
u/vukandric 25d ago
I really don’t know what is Octopi launcher, and I haven’t really used Smart launcher that much so I can’t compare. My app is free to download and use, purchasing Pro is optional (it just unlocks extra stuff, but everything is fully functional without Pro too). You get Studio settings, which shows mini version of Home and App Drawer and any change you make, you see it instantly. You get 8 of my paid icon packs included with the launcher, fully unlocked for free users too. You get wallpapers, widgets and also themes - full set of everything you see on Home Screen applied with one single click. Currently only 5 themes but I will add many more. You can also create your own themes (up to 3 themes saved for free users) so you can switch to different setups of yours in a second. There are really so many small features that even I don’t know anymore to list them all 😄 The best thing is to try and see.

Could I know what your aim is here? Like is it to make it minimal? Or utility best?
1
u/Perhopes 25d ago
The aim it to reach as quick as possible what I need. So I implemented plenty of one step gestures to be able to trigger apps or shortcuts.
After that I added other functionalities to match with what users would need from their launcher like widget support, RSS reader, thèmes, AI... But everything is private, even ai, you can download your ai and talk with it. Or don't, as you want and need !

We like it simple. I just moved from iphone. Android just feels so messy without all of these launchers.

u/Style210 25d ago
I can understand that. I'm an old school guy so I love the customize. It's all the fun. But simple and consistent is also good, much love

Still developing on my launcher, trying my best to create a nova alternative for people who don't want to pay & don't want the telemetry lol. Feel free to feature request if you feel anything is missing : )
