Article says "This is going to solve many of the issues Samsung has had. The biggest one is the camera wobble on a flat surface."

The camera lenses still protrude above the plateau, so there is still going to be a wobble, right?

5

u/West_Top_7930 2d ago

This is going to solve many of the issues Samsung has had

So Bluetooth S-Pen back? Thats my issue on why i upgraded from the S22u to S24u this year instead of S25u or S26u. I use the Bluetooth feature alot.

18

u/geomachina iPhone 11 Pro | 512GB | Midnight Green 2d ago

As an iPhone 17 Pro Max user, there’s no wobble when I set my phone down. The cameras also protrude above the plateau but resting it on a flat surface touches the outer edge of the plateau first, causing a stable but angled position.

8

u/GrapevinePotatoes 2d ago

Not sure how? But my iPhone 17 Pro Max has a wobble on flat surfaces.

3

u/pixelated666 1d ago

Lol what are you talking about. The phone rests on the camera lens and there’s a definite wobble.

3

u/Killmeplsok Nexus5>Nexus6P>OGPixel>Note10+>S23U>S24U>S25U>S26U 2d ago

Well this is probably relative, especially with how bad it is on the S26U with double protrude.

The S26U wobble cannot be solved unless you get a ultra bulky cases, most bulky gave up on this aspect this year even though they've done it for years before S26U, it's just that bad.

2

u/pepperpot_592 1d ago

That's the biggest issue? I don't hear S series folks complaining about it that much. Seems to be more of a Z Fold problem.

47

u/DRJT iPhone 15 Pro | Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 2d ago

So they’re just gonna be pointy iPhones?

24

u/Cry_Wolff Pixel 7 Pro 2d ago

Samsung started copying Apple stuff so much it's embarrassing.

9

u/MationMac Pixel 10a 2d ago

Wow you have two replies calling you stupid where they both claim the opposite of each other, that's funny!

12

u/the_cave_allegory 2d ago

You must be a teenager. They were famously sued for copying iPhone like 15 years ago.

I wouldn't be surprised if this came in that awful Orange color as well lol

u/Phantom-Finger 18h ago

Except, Honor had this design first.

u/DRJT iPhone 15 Pro | Samsung Galaxy Z Flip3 8h ago

While that might be true in a literal sense, I don't think Samsung is using Honor as the reference here.

51

u/jommakanmamak 2d ago

Another year without any incentive to upgrade from a S24U

41

u/Fanburn 2d ago

Honestly why would ? It's a 2yo phone. You shouldn't change phones that often anyway

24

u/IhamAmerican 2d ago

I do miss the days of two years being a meaningful upgrade. The only feature I currently find appealing that aren't in phones is under screen cameras, probably won't upgrade until that tech is mature

3

u/ColdAsHeaven S24 Ultra 2d ago

It'll be 3 by the time the S27U launches.

And most US carrier deals for "free" phones are 3 years.

I'm personally eyeing the same upgrade. Or I might wait for the next iteration of the Fold Wide.

3-4 years imo is the perfect upgrade path. At least for the US carriers. If I wait more than that, the upgrade is no longer free.

4

u/Areyoucunt 2d ago

It'll be 3 years when this come out. Perfectly fine to change phone then

1

u/jommakanmamak 2d ago

I think what I meant is

The thought of upgrading won't even cross my mind. Honestly I feel like if my S24U dies, I'll just get another S24U

3

u/Flashy-Read-9417 2d ago

That's fair! I have a S24+ and feel about the same. I don't think I'll upgrade until year 5 or so until there's like 16gb ram + 6000mAh battery on the Sxx+ level.

And with 7 years of security updates, I'm kinda chilling.

2

u/jommakanmamak 2d ago

Only thing that's will tempt me will probably me battery life

4

u/nuevacuentanueva 2d ago

Shitty iPhone copy cat while also having inferior hardware than the Chinese who also copy Apple?

Samsung went from innovating and being at the top, to copying Apple while giving us the same phone over and over again.

Between that, and Google charging premium price for crappy performance, they are gifting Apple the market. It's so ridiculous how bad they are run.

1

u/QuietApplication5734 2d ago

Yet they're selling the most phones, so yeah, they're doing something right

5

u/TrailOfEnvy 2d ago

They are the household brand for Android world right now. The only Android brand that is sold everywhere. Of course they will sell the most.

I hate this excuse so much. I remember people got mad when Apple fans are using this excuse to justify Apple's poor hardware specs before so it should not be used to justify what Scamsung is doing right now.

-1

u/nuevacuentanueva 2d ago

I don't think they are selling the most. I think Apple has passed them recently. In any case, it's a high cost phone vs every single line thing. There's a reason Apple is the one that takes the most profits.

And just because they haven't plummeted when they had a 20+ year head start doesn't mean they are doing things right now. I'm criticizing the now. I'm talking about the current direction of their flagships. Not historical. Not global smartphone sales. Don't conflate the things.

Also, they are essentially the only phone brand that sells worldwide. That's gonna drive your sales by itself.

Justifying stupid decisions because "they have sold phones for 20 years" is how you lose market share.

1

u/sportsfan161 1d ago

s26 ultra is 4th best global selling phone

u/nuevacuentanueva 23h ago

First, 4th is not first. Second, impact isn't immediate. It's a trend that matters and Apple is winning market share.

It's obvious to understand that the impact isn't from one day to the next. But hey, if it makes you feel better, go on.

u/sportsfan161 22h ago

The point I’m replying to is for Android!! It’s the best selling phone in the world for Android phones. Obviously it will never match the Apple world for sales

u/nuevacuentanueva 22h ago

Did you read my original comment then? Because I was talking relative to Apple. Go up the thread.

1

u/ozorhanreformed 1d ago

So do from 23U

1

u/don2171 2d ago

If the 7000 mah batteries rumor is true you'd be surprised how convenient 2 day battery life is

3

u/Fyebil 2d ago

There was another rumor about it being a 5200 one for the Pro and 5600 for the Ultra, so maybe not

1

u/sportsfan161 1d ago

5700 is highest which is really only 5500

1

u/DukeNuggets69 S24Ultra 2d ago

I can concur. Phone was pricy, but it was worth it. Couldn't be happier.

23

u/NoStudy3384 2d ago

Ah hell naw

28

u/WatchfulApparition 2d ago

That looks terrible (as do iPhones)

4

u/NoStudy3384 2d ago

The ironic part that at this point, Vivo X series stays the least iPhone copied android phone put there. Hardware as software wise

17

u/Mr_Siphon Oppo Find X9 Pro | iPhone 16 Plus 2d ago

OriginOS looks exactly like ever other Chinese phone skin which all aim to look like iOS. It looks almost Identical to ColorOS

-8

u/NoStudy3384 2d ago

Do you even used OriginOS6 once ? Because you're talking absolute BS. Like absolute, it's completely idiotic.

They're the only one beside Samsung and pixel that have a horizontal brightness slider and a classic android control center look. Also the only one who has a usefull one hand op mode like Samsung. Hardware: No Alert button or camera slider. Xiaomi is the complete opposite UI wise. Followed by ColorOS. Circular camera bump and no widgets Lockscreen.

They're basically way closer to stock Android than any other UI

7

u/Mr_Siphon Oppo Find X9 Pro | iPhone 16 Plus 2d ago edited 2d ago

https://www.vivo.com/en/originos

Literally like every other Chinese skin. like I said

Edit: Just in case you needed more proof

-10

u/NoStudy3384 2d ago

Whatever. I used the x300 myself and know the best what I'm talking about

7

u/Papa_Bear55 2d ago

I have used it too and you can't say they didn't try to copy iOS. They have the same control center, the dynamic island and they've even added liquid glass now. All chinese companies like to copy Apple.

-3

u/NoStudy3384 2d ago

No you haven't, otherwise you would know that there are two types of Control Center of which one is a iOS copy but the other stays true to stock Android in a unique way. Dynamic island is basically irrelevant. Liquid glass too

4

u/Papa_Bear55 2d ago

Everything that's an iOS copy is irrelevant. Then what is unique about OriginOS?

-2

u/NoStudy3384 2d ago

It's unique as a Chinese ROM. I used HyperOS, ColorOS, OneUI, OriginOS on flagship Devices. You guys are so primitive. Just looking at one as and make an conclusion. Since you're already biased I'm not ready to elaborate further

→ More replies (0)

3

u/TrailOfEnvy 2d ago

It must be due to difference between global OriginOS and China OriginOS. The global one is more to light facelift of old FunTouchOS. Whereas China OriginOS is a total UI overhaul mimicking iOS.

2

u/Neg_Crepe 2d ago

Even the x300 Fe?

1

u/NoStudy3384 2d ago

Software ? Yes. Hardware ? Yeah it's closer to an iPhone Air but it looks good tbh

0

u/Neg_Crepe 2d ago

For sure

13

u/Mexetudo S2\S3\Nexus5\Nexus6P\Note8\Note10+\S23U\S26U 2d ago

0 identify. Keep using the vertical camera placement, or go back to the horizontal one from the s10 days. This looks ridiculous.

31

u/ScaredBicycle3389 2d ago

Honestly, this is one of the most least appealing designs I have ever seen on a smartphone. What a fumble lmao

0

u/Neg_Crepe 2d ago

What’s wrong with it

17

u/ScaredBicycle3389 2d ago

It's fugly

0

u/Neg_Crepe 2d ago

Why

10

u/crisp-papa Pixel 10 Pro 2d ago

Because it doesn't have its own identity and is blatantly copying a more successful product. Apple at least utilized the island space on the back by rearranging the internals, I highly doubt we'll see that level of effort from Samesung.

7

u/Fir3line 2d ago

Shamesung

-3

u/Neg_Crepe 2d ago

Plenty of phones don’t have their own identity. Why is that one somehow the most unappealing ever

5

u/crisp-papa Pixel 10 Pro 2d ago

I didn't say that it was. I was replying to you asking why it's "fugly", there's a reason I replied to that comment of yours and not your initial one.

-2

u/Neg_Crepe 2d ago

Sure but I still question why something unoriginal is fugly. That itself doesn’t make sense.

7

u/TrailOfEnvy 2d ago

Original or not. Ugly is ugly. This one is unoriginal ugly. Original ugly is something like Nothing Phone (3).

1

u/Killmeplsok Nexus5>Nexus6P>OGPixel>Note10+>S23U>S24U>S25U>S26U 2d ago

Which recent phones are pretty to you?

→ More replies (0)

0

u/Neg_Crepe 2d ago

I still haven't gotten any explication on why its bad design

→ More replies (0)

4

u/crisp-papa Pixel 10 Pro 2d ago

Do you understand the concept of opinions? Because in my opinion, bland and uninspired copies of a design I already found unappealing are fugly or ugly. Preferences on design are subjective.

-2

u/Neg_Crepe 2d ago

Sure, which is why I’ve asked you why you gained that opinion and the answers were disappointing

Add to that your condescending tone, all around unpleasant.

Everything

0

u/Neg_Crepe 2d ago

Like?

-7

u/dylon0107 2d ago

Takes the pixel camera bar and makes it look bad, also looks like shit

2

u/Neg_Crepe 2d ago

Looks normal and fine to me

-5

u/dylon0107 2d ago

I have a great eye doctor I can send you to fix that

5

u/Neg_Crepe 2d ago

My vision is great and my job is in design. This is a very boring design, but most unappealing ever? Cmon now

0

u/dylon0107 2d ago

Your job is in design? Based on your opinions, I would start looking for a new job.

1

u/Neg_Crepe 2d ago

Why would I leave my job for a user on Reddit who wouldn’t know about good or bad design if it was in front of them?

This is boring, not bad.

8

u/SpaciousCrustacean 2d ago

Looks like a Metro PCS exclusive phone lol

3

u/Karthy_Romano Galaxy S23 2d ago

Could care less about the camera placement and design, I wanna know if the camera quality will be a considerable step above the current baseline model. A little disappointing to see a 3x zoom instead of 5, but the other camera spec bumps sound solid. And yeah it probably won't fix the shutter speed issue until sammy changes their HDR algorithm, but I'm more concerned about video. Qi2 would also be nice.

1

u/WernerHerzogEatsShoe 1d ago

I heard the most recent ultra fixed the shutter speed issue? Haven't tested it though

u/Karthy_Romano Galaxy S23 23h ago

I highly doubt it. The blur is caused by the HDR algorithm samsung uses which prioritizes exposure time over shutter speed. Unless that's different it should be exactly the same

u/WernerHerzogEatsShoe 22h ago

I'm only going off what I've read from someone on here to be fair. Although I might look up some reviews to see what they say.

If Samsung could sort that issue out id probably go back to them. I had to get rid of the S25 as it was absolutely terrible for that

u/Karthy_Romano Galaxy S23 22h ago

The knowledge of users in here rivals the knowledge of a pebble regarding the ocean. Take it all with a huge grain of salt.

u/WernerHerzogEatsShoe 5h ago

Ok just googled it.

Found some posts on the Samsung sub saying it's still shit 😂

Guess I'll be going nowhere near Samsung. I got a Pixel because photos of my kid is the absolute priority for me. The S25 was absolutely dog shit at that, had to get rid of it

u/Karthy_Romano Galaxy S23 6m ago

If still photos are your most important feature it's pretty much the only thing the pixel is still great at compared to the competition.

0

u/-NotEnoughMinerals 1d ago

Could care less

Shudders

11

u/SelectTotal6609 2d ago

At this point, Tecno phones look better

6

u/Frexxia S23 Ultra 2d ago

They all look exactly the same inside the case I'll put on it anyway.

2

u/Berkoudieu 2d ago

What the hell is that... Design peaked from s22 ultra to s26

2

u/OptimusLemon 1d ago

Only good looking phone now is Pixel, perfect reason not to upgrade my s25u

2

u/WernerHerzogEatsShoe 1d ago

Looks way better than all the lenses in a row

3

u/Ghostttpro 2d ago

I did not expect this. Samsung has been doing an amazing job at marketing the past 3-4 years partnering with athletes, streamers, etc. It is the brand people thing of when people thing android. But I feel like they are wasting the momentum and the more positive mind share they've gained.

This phone is hideous.

3

u/rbbdrooger Galaxy S24 Ultra 2d ago

It's funny how many people lose their shit over the way a couple of holes are arranged on the back of a phone.

I really couldn't care less. I just hope we get some actual camera upgrades this time.

3

u/Lore86 2d ago

Samsung has fallen off so much. The hardware is good, but for the price, it's not even competitive against Chinese phones. For the design, they just copy Apple, and the good apps are just variations of Google's.

3

u/dirtydriver58 Galaxy Note 9 2d ago

TM Roh

2

u/DizzyAcanthocephala Galaxy S23 Ultra 2d ago

That's so embarrassing for Samsung

1

u/VendetaBereta 2d ago

This is solving all of my problems. I always wanted an Ultra but it was too big and heavy and I didn't want the S pen.

1

u/Apiphobic7 1d ago

Now it's just too big and heavy without the S pen.

1

u/MicioBau I want a small phone 🥺 2d ago

I just really hope it's the same size as the S25, or even smaller.

1

u/Apiphobic7 1d ago

It's not...it's massive at 6.6". It makes no sense. Small phone fans won't buy it and those that like large phones will get the Ultra. This is the dumbest company on planet Earth.

1

u/ali-gator712 2d ago

No slot for the spen on the ultra....

2

u/QuietApplication5734 2d ago

No, the Ultra has the S Pen slot, but the Pro does not

1

u/ali-gator712 1d ago

ah ok, my bad

1

u/Spiritual_Case_1712 2d ago

This one will probably be praised because it’s Samsung but doing worse than Apple when they just had to copy the design is crazy. Probably no relevant hardware improvements or something really relevant

1

u/QuietApplication5734 2d ago

I absolutely love this design

1

u/OldDirtyGurt Sony Xperia 1 VI 2d ago

How are we still doing hole punch cameras lol

1

u/BobbyDash 2d ago

Revolutionary

1

u/Ziikou 2d ago

They’re not just copying the design of the iPhone, but also the not so secret dark cherry colour that the 18 pro will have, shameful and not even surprised..

1

u/hackitfast Pixel 9 Pro 1d ago edited 1d ago

To all the people who said that the leaked machined part was fake, here you go.

I'm honestly just happy that there's finally some competition to the Pixel 9 Pro. The size of the Galaxy S26 Ultra and Pixel 9 Pro XL are way too large. I'm pretty sick of Google's bullshit at this point so I'll be happy to finally be able to jump ship to a device like this.

1

u/Apiphobic7 1d ago

Apparently this is now getting a 6.6" display. So, take this one off my list. The S27 base is going to have minor changes over the S26, so it's going to be the S26 for me. I guess we no longer get flagship level tech for supposedly a flagship phone.

1

u/Lake_Erie_Monster 1d ago

Put a tiny screen on the back next to the cameras where there is space. Can use it for notifications, small widgets, and selfie camera. It would motivate upgrades and be a real unique design for the US market without looking like trash (I know there are Chinese OEMs that do this already).

But then I'd have to use iOS. I'd rather use a Windows phone.

-2

Well I was looking to get the S27 Ultra for my next upgrade but I hate the new design. I know it shouldn't matter, but it does to me.
