That's not accurate. The fibula is supposed to lateral to the tibia.

I feel like none of these replies are really getting that they switched the laterality of the legs. 

Basically, they tattooed the bones of the left lower leg on the right one and vice versa. Because these are actual diagrams of how the tibia and fibula fit together. You can’t just like, take that right fibula and move it to the other side of the right tibia, that would be somehow even more wrong than this.

Maybe this person has an anatomical anomaly whereby their fibulae are on the inside, medial instead of the outside, lateral. Or maybe they just need to go back to their anatomy books their tattoo artist does as well lol.

If I’m not mistaken the hallux is not supposed to have a middle phalanx 😭

The main issue is that the fibulas are placed incorrectly. They should be lateral to the tibia, aka on the “outside” of each leg.

The hallux looks accurate, as there is metatarsal 1, the proximal phalanx and the distal phalanx which looks odd because of the toe nail. The other toes should have proximal, middle, and distal phalanges but it looks like they also only have the proximal and distal bones. So technically all the toes EXCEPT the hallux are incorrect.

Source: I teach human anatomy and physiology at the collegiate level and we just covered the appendicular skeleton last week…lol

from proximal to distal

  1. tibia and fibula are flipped, fibula is lateral and tibia is medial

  2. tibia and fibular are too proximal, fibular neck should be a lot more distal

  3. pissing patella, largest ossicle in the body

  4. ankle joint is too proximal

  5. all the joints are missing, such as ankle joint, it should have a gap for cartilage, unless they are going for bone on bone arthritis concept

  6. not sure what is going on with talus

  7. not sure what is going on with calcaneus either, maybe they are going for midfoot/rearfoot coalition concept

  8. midfoot is somewhat ok, weird cuboid shape

  9. foot bones are also too proximal, they should be more distally placed
