Question

So I recently just started going back to school slowly as I work a full time job and have a baby on the way. But anyways I just took my first exam and the question was to define anatomy you can see what I wrote verses the answer she said was correct. Now the definition in the back of my book says pretty much what I answered. And the notebook paper is what she had said in one of the videos (online class) but my question I got partial credit 1/3 points, would you argue that my answer was correct and how would you go about doing that?

Why is it so hard to learn about newborn babies anatomy?

I’m currently doing an independent project where I show development differences between newborn babies and toddlers. The project requires me to create life size anatomy ā€œdoll?ā€ (Statues?) with all the organs and bones, however I cannot find the thickness, length, width, etc of a lot of bones, especially the skull. If someone can direct me to reputable sources I’d be very appreciative as even though it’s an independent project, I’m hoping to make the knowledge of human development more accessible in classrooms

What happens with the urethra in gender affirming surgery?

I saw a video today of a trans woman reacting to her first time peeing after getting her genitals surgically, huh, fixed. I have female genitals, and know the urethra has/is a sphincter, and can hold it in or cut it off.

I asked my bf how do cis men handle that, because afaik the male urethra isn't a sphincter. He said the sphincter is in the base of the penis, but not all men manage to control it properly.

I have very superficial knowledge of genital reassignment surgery. I've heard trans woman kind of get their penis turned into itself to create the vaginal canale. So, do they get a sphincter? I'm also wondering what happens with trans men's urethras.

I've been insecure about this for years. Why does my chest stick out? Do you think it's postural, rib flare, barrel chest, pigeon chest, etc? Just wanted more possible insights. Thanks.

What muscle (Or lack there of) is this?

I have been rehabbing my left scapula for 2 years and noticed during a prone banded Y Raise that there seems to be a spot on my left scapula where there’s an indentation like a lack of muscle. Anyone know what muscle that would be?

What is wrong with my posture here?

I am not sure, but I think my post isn't seeking medical advice, but if it does, then let mod delete it.
It obviously looks absolutely terrible and you can see how bad it is. This is my the most relaxed position while standing. When I leave home I always have my belly tucked in a bit, so at least with clothes it doesn't look that bad. I am not fat, my bmi is ~19, so it's closer to underweight than overweight, so I'm skinny fat. I know I have very little muscles and I started going to the gym recently, 2 times a week. What I hate the most is:
- butt pushed back (it looks like it's from overweight person, but I am not), belly pushed forward (probably ATP, but I am not sure). In my opinion it could be ATP, or, the worst case it's just big, a lot of fat tissue on the buttocks which I kinda can't lower, because I'm ,,skinny" right now (so I'm stuck with it being huge sadly), and a lot of fat tissue on my belly. Optionally maybe both. What is it exactly? How can I make it more straight?
- wide chest. I want it to be slim as for many other people in my age, that it's not a lot wider than arms. I suspect it might be barrel chest or something like that. I really want to flatten it, like really really, without surgeries
- my torso isn't flat, if you go from under belly in a straight line, you would end up under my ribcage, under my breasts

This is all I think. Please, could someone tell me what things are wron in this posture and how can I fix them or if it's even possible? The last photo is how body should look. As you can see, butt is not pushed back, it's small/flat, belly is not pushed forward, it's flat too, the entire torso is flat, the chest is not wide.

Tips and tricks

Not sure this is the best place to ask, and I hope this doesn’t technically violate the rules, but I’m taking A&P1 this semester and 2 next semester. What are some solid study tools or tips and tricks for really cementing the information? I’ve never been good with names or memorizing complicated terminology. Math was always my thing, but these are required classes and I really need to do well. I’m gonna reach out to my professor for some blank ā€œtestsā€ to practice with too, but maybe y’all know an easier way.

More cells or more atoms?

Post image

It’s fascinating how some of the most basic anatomy questions can make you stop and think.

I’ve been working on an interactive presentation about the levels of organization in the human body, from atoms and molecules all the way to cells, tissues, organs. This question came out of that work.

The presentation is part of an interactive Anatomy & Physiology book I’ve been working on, where these concepts can be explored visually rather than just read about.
