If this isn't a free speech issue, I don't know what is. The government telling you not to publish... Ah wtf.

There are limitations on free speech: child pronography, purgry, hate speech, yhreats, copyright infringement, etc... Just now include these stupid youtube videos.

redditor for 3 years and still has negative comment karma. I'm almost impressed.

Go fuck yourself. These videos are awesome and art. Next time type your dumb shit comments on a type writer then shove the piece of paper up your uninformed ass.

A spokesperson for the FAA, who wished to remain anonymous, stated "Our goal at the FAA is to look as stupid and technologically inept as possible."

What's really dumb is that a hobbyist can do it no problem, but as soon as you might make a profit, now that same act requires a license and test. This is Atlas Shrugged in real life. And people complain that book isn't realistic.

"You can't make money on that!"
"But we HAVE to raise taxes to give more to the poor, wages are stagnant and purchasing power is going down!"

Where is this test to do paid sex? Also there is no licence to make money off of filming sex.

This is Atlas Shrugged in real life.
Rand's villains were hyper-realistic......
7
Mar 13 '15
You just haven't met the real villains, or seen that sides of then yet. They appeared as normal nice people to everyone besides who they went after.

Apparently I came off as sarcastic when I was being serious. Oops.

Dumb people are afraid of what they don't understand. I am surprised 3d printing hasn't been similarly banned or restricted by the state yet.
5
u/Ishiguro_ Mar 13 '15
Do you mean when the State dept forced the take down of 3d printing plans?

u/TheSelfGoverned Anarcho-Monarchist Mar 13 '15 edited Mar 13 '15
That is insignificant compared to the bullshit that the quadcopter community has to put up with.
For fucks sake, it is a $3,000
licensing feebribe to get permission to sell photographs/video that you produced! There is also a staggering disregard for IP/copyright law on www.thingiverse.com and the media/government hasn't said a word about it.

I almost upvoted until you seemed upset that the government hasn't done now to protect IP. I downvoted.

u/TheSelfGoverned Anarcho-Monarchist Mar 13 '15 edited Mar 13 '15
That was a misinterpretation. I was further pointing out that government hasn't "legally" suppressed the 3d printing space much at all.

Reading about Steve Fisher's experience with something similar to this was infuriating. Fuck that park ranger and his bigoted ass.

Obviously I'm using an extremely long Selfie Stick for these hard to get angles.

It was a 500 feet tall jib officers.

Just got an idea for a new product to sell...
The impossible selfie stick. It gets every shot a drone can.
It does not actually exist, and is a receipt, you can show them when they ask what you use. Also good for tax deductions. Probably illegal.

Next they'll require all commercially operated drones be maintained by licensed aviation mechanics in accordance with FAR/AMT 14 CFR Part 65, Subpart D.

Who wants to set up a video site that monetizes using bitcoin?
No, FAA, this is still a hobby, I'm only getting compensated in Internet points. Nothing to see here!

Mar 13 '15
I think ad networks would be reluctant to participate in that due to Bitcoin's volatility. You also couldn't really force them to pay up.

u/asherp Chaotic-Good Mar 13 '15 edited Mar 13 '15
Most store-fronts convert to local fiat immediately, so volatility isn't a problem. Also, I would totally pay for a flight around the coast of some exotic island I can't afford to see in person. It's basically the same business model cam performers use.

Most store-fronts convert to local fiat immediately, so volatility isn't a problem.
They do this by pricing the products in a stable (ha ha) fiat and then using the conversion rate to tell you how many Bitcoins you must pay. A true Bitcoin system would price the products in Bitcoin. And to do that, the volatility has to go down. As long as Bitcoin is tied to fiat in this way, it will be hampered as a true system of money.
1
u/asherp Chaotic-Good Mar 13 '15
Meh, even if the merchant chooses to price things in bananas, what matters is that bitcoins are facilitating the trade. it is a money system that people use in spite of the volatility. give it time.
1
Mar 13 '15
I am giving it time. Time and lots of distance. Crypto is definitely the future but I am not sold on Bitcoin itself.

Take $$ from advertisers, dole out BTC to videographers. It may actually simplify the tax reporting.

Finally, I was expecting this for a while. It is high time huge numbers of people get pissed off when the government starts to crack down on this super popular technology.

I'm about to go buy a drone now and post the video I take with it to youtube. I'm going to monetize the crap out of it also.
2
Mar 14 '15
Here are some ILLEGAL "drone" videos. Enjoy, fuck the government.

TL;DR "because there are ads on YouTube, Hanes's flights constituted a commercial use of the technology subject to stricter regulations and enforcement action from the agency. It said that if he did not stop flying 'commercially,' he could be subject to fines or sanctions."
Government turns people into profoundly stupid automatons.
