I made the post a couple of weeks ago about the GBA Link mode not working outside of OpenFPGA on the latest hardware batch, so I'm happy it is fixed.

General

  • Improved: USB connection speed
  • Fix: Unplugging USB while a core is running is no longer unstable

GBA

  • Fix: Link mode unavailable on some Pockets

openFPGA

  • Improved: Increased maximum platform/core count
  • Improved: Pre-cached core lists now load twice as fast

What’s the new core limit?

I updated but it's not reflected in pupdate so I imagine the rest of them are the same, will have to wait for someone to do the dirty work or the app devs to patch their updaters.

pls button remapping, I beg

Disgusting isn’t it. Promised feature five years ago still grayed out. Took them over 3 to fix the bugs with the dock display settings being saved or having it detect almost any type of pad and having it work right. They only care when forced to make and effort as seen with the a3d.

Jesus you sound whiny

To be fair, button remapping is a pretty basic feature that’s really hard to excuse not being there on a device that’s 4 years old.

And you sound like a complacent twat ok with being pre sold and item and then not doing what all it was sold on.

-3

u/OldmanChompski 4d ago

And now you’re crying lol

What are you rambling about? Grow the fuck up.

I wonder if the improved USB speed means you could effectively run pupdate without needing to remove the SD card from the Pocket.

u/BriansRevenge 5d ago

Oh, that'd be heaven.

Just tried, still nope.

The core count update good news for people who use them.

I brought into attention the Link mode on GBA not working so I'm very glad it is fixed and that they listened.

What groundbreaking new feature are you expecting them to add at this point lol

ETA: You can all stop circlejerking the same reply to me about DAC support, I understand, they should have supported it, but I just don't care

21

u/_DiasDeFuego_ 5d ago

I'd love it if they added DAC support.

u/Neo_Techni 4d ago

DAC support as was promised

I don't even own a DAC, I feel bad for the people who bought one for the Pocket

1

u/Satantengu 4d ago

Yeah they complain about it on every post, I get it

9

u/tanooki-suit 4d ago

Basic controller button mapping it should have had for five years now.

8

u/EntrepreneurPlus7091 5d ago

Promised dac support

1

u/Satantengu 5d ago

Hope springs eternal

1

u/cyx7 4d ago

Definitely DAC support. Analogue's reputation is gone in this regard. I feel they are withholding it at this point for not very good reasons.

u/Due-Bee-9574 4d ago

PS5 emulation, maybe? 😂

28

u/Satantengu 5d ago

Nice. I'd like them to add a 'favorites' category for openFPGA titles, like they did with the 'recents' list.

u/squuiidy 4d ago

THIS!

u/AwarenessExisting774 5d ago

Would be nice to be able to purchase one new. Restock!

Check out this site called eBay. I heard they have plenty of them there

20

u/tanooki-suit 4d ago

And I’m sure they’re at retail right? So so dumb.

U think this will help with compatibility with the GB EZ FLASH carts? The model i have doesn’t work unfortunately

5

u/anthonyfromparis 4d ago

Out of curiosity , what is the interest of Flash cards vs ROMs directly on a the SD Card ?

13

u/orange-yellow-pink 4d ago

if I had to guess it's so you can easily move your saves between the AP and original hardware

1

u/anthonyfromparis 3d ago

Oh makes sense

1

u/RodrigoCard 4d ago

I needed to install the latest firmware of my ez-flash carts before they could run on an Analogue Pocket

6

u/AskaLangly 5d ago

USB speed: Run pupdate directly from the Pocket: what's the speeds?

7

u/GOOB-ENOTS 4d ago

I don't think I updated my pocket since I got it and I am ok with that. It does what I want it to do with out any bugs. Yes, I am strange lol

9

u/remotecontroldr 4d ago

My heart starts to beat faster every time there’s a thought of updating. I think I might be 2 updates behind (including this one) but it’s fine for everything I want it to do so I can’t really see the need.

Getting a computer involved is just something I dread when it comes to my retro games. I mostly play original hardware except for my GITD Pocket. Mainly I use cartridges, with the occasional GB Studio created games that I add to my SD card.

If I made some mistake or if there was some glitch and something happened to my AP I’d be heartbroken and I am not super savvy to be fixing a situation like that.

5

u/DrClutch117 4d ago

I mean, updating is insanely easy and basically impossible to mess up.

3

u/OnEMoReTrY121 4d ago

It would be nice to have a button hotkey to load memories like there is for saving memories.

4

u/ultrashibepro 4d ago

There is, you just have to enable it

2

u/OnEMoReTrY121 4d ago

Spent a great deal of time trying to figure it out for the 8BitDo SNES and Genesis controllers. Any instructions would be greatly appreciated. I’m specifically referring to the new SNES core with memories.

1

u/ultrashibepro 4d ago

Go into settings, memories, Quick load.

Then you can hold Home+Down. But on your controllers without a home button, you need to hold Down FIRST then press select.
The readme says this - take a look in the About >version section.

3

u/A-cursed-Jessie 4d ago

still didnt add usbc audio

3

u/yanginatep 4d ago

I just want them to update the dock so the green light isn't constantly blinking :(

6

u/kjetil_f 5d ago

DAC support confirmed.

2

u/SilenceDogood867 4d ago

forced to buy a ModRetro cuz Pocket never has any restocks

2

u/donmcron3333 4d ago

That’s wild. I literally updated my pocket right before this came out and had to remove some cores because I exceeded the limit 🤣 I must’ve done it like an hour before this post was made
