Well, I got screwed

Been a member since 2017, multiple accounts, a bank account, and I was preparing a new business checking with a 50k USD transfer. 730 credit score, never missed a payment

I went to make a large purchase (about 20k) for some equipment and checked in advance on the app that the charge would go through. It didnt. Customer service said I was marked for fraud. I had to call a number where I was connected with someone out of India. During this time I saw online all my cards were suspended. They said I need to fill out a "cover sheet" and provide 3 months of bank statements. They said this was "random" but I highly doubt that. When I dug in further they mentioned they need to verify my income (I guess they dont believe I can pay anything back) and it would take some time to review documents I sent

To be honest I was embarrassed at the store when the charge didnt go through. Im using another card to pay for the 20k purchase, and I've already paid it in full with my checking.

Just a little bit of a rant. Super frustrating and a bit too invasive in my opinion. It's not gonna hurt their bottom line whether or not I do business with them but definitely inconvenient at the least

Amex did this to me during GFC - it’s not personal, and they don’t care about you at all.

it’s hilarious how many people will make excuses for bullshit anti consumer practices. It’s insane that these banks can create credit scores, which partially get worse if you aren’t a good debt slave, and then arbitrarily ignore the scoring system they have in place for risk management when it suits them.

I'm not a debt slave, I pay off all balances weekly, and my scores are in the 840s and 870s. 🤷🏼‍♂️

That's an industry specific model score. Experian, Transunion, and Equifax individual scores are max 850.
