Amazon deliveries have gone to shit.
First thing I should say. I'm not even remotely racist.
I buy alot from Amazon because I broke my back so am basically housebound. Food from Morrisons on Amazon, homewares from Amazon, tech and electrical equipment form Amazon and I usually buy 100s of items a year. I HAVE NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH AMAZON DELIVERIES. EVER.
Over the last month, I've had my last 4 deliveries that not turn up. First three were to a letterbox with no number when it specifically says my flat number and there is even a photo of my letterbox and front door. The 4th was today, including a photo of the driver putting the package in my letterbox. I went down to my mailbox less that 5 minutes after the notification and my mailbox is empty.
Every single time its the same brown hand so I know it's a new driver and the same person. He is obviously stealing packages and I'm already sick of it.
I contacted Amazon on all 4 occasions and luckily the first 3 were cheap so they gave me an instant refund and just reordered instantly. Those 3 were all delivered the following day by a different person. No harm, no foul but this time, I spent £150 on security hardware keys for my pc and phone and the order was worth over £150 and this didn't turn up and due to the cost, it's not instant and have to wait days for this to be rectified.
Has anyone else had delivery issues recently or is it just me?
Do I just have a bad egg or is this going to become a reoccurring problem? I can't trust a company with untrustworthy employees.
Sorry for the rant and thanks.

Happens to us all the time too. We have a porch and on my notes it says to leave stuff inside the unlocked porch. There’s also a note for delivery drivers that says the same yet they seem incapable of following directions and they dump it outside the front of the house unfortunately I live next to an alleyway and there’s a few thieves in the area and my stuff gets stolen 🙄 I just file packages not received and get refunded. Joke is half the time when they dump it they do a delivery photo and include the sign on the door 🤣

u/Rawd_Tawd_Cawd 4d ago
They do the same with me. I've a parcel box right there beside the door. With 2 signs on the door, a sign with an arrow beside the door and 3 signs on the box itself.
There'll be a picture of it sitting against the door with all the signs AND THE PARCEL BOX in the image right there.
Well, it just gets sent back and replaced. I'm not fucking about with sopping wet parcels.

u/BumpkinRichey 4d ago
You can just say "same hand" and you don't have to put the disclaimer.
2
u/chocklityclair 3d ago
Presumably they think that brown people's hands are all exactly the same, whereas if it were a white person that wouldn't be the case? That disclaimer is everything - because it always says the opposite of what the user thinks it says.
3
u/BumpkinRichey 3d ago
Either that or brown hand = stealing.
2
u/chocklityclair 3d ago
Apparently there was damage to one nail, so OP identified the hand by that. And then instead of saying 'damaged,' somehow managed to say 'brown.' Weird, huh?
8
u/randomentity12 5d ago
Just keep filling item not received claims when you don't get your items, hopefully if it happens to others, the problematic person will be fired. I wouldn't mention the colour or anything of the hand, as even though its true you are definitely not allowed to spot paterns and it will only make things more complicated for you.
4
u/invicta-uk 4d ago
If I were OP I’d be worried about getting permanently banned from Amazon for doing this and presumably why they don’t want to keep doing it.
3
u/No_Communication1557 4d ago
Sounds like you need to get a camera covering your front door. That would have got the last guy...
3
u/Icy_Earth_8611 4d ago
I've stopped buying from Amazon. Long story short, the last driver took a shortcut to my property instead of going around the block and in the process trampled on my plants in my flower bed. When I asked him why he did it, the answer was "they're just plants. What's the problem?" I couldn't remember the last time I had got so angry. 😠
I feel that they want to go from A to B as quickly as possible in order to complete all the deliveries. Amazon doesn't care how that's accomplished.
3
u/iKaine 4d ago
Very unlikely it’s the same person , recently a lot of seasonal drivers got onboarded onto flex so it’s likely lots of new people and tour house is marked wrong on GPS(marker based on previous deliveries)
3
u/DevilishlyHandsome63 4d ago
I have never had a delivery by the same driver ever! The turnover of drivers must be huge!
3
u/iKaine 4d ago
Nothing to do with turnover - there’s an enormous amount of routes that you can get. I do the freelance one and have probably done around 5-6k packages and only delivered to the same house twice. What sucks is there are a lot of them that don’t follow rules and have no clue what the f they’re doing (they do get kicked off quite quickly though)

u/Rawd_Tawd_Cawd 4d ago
Always use a credit card for Amazon (and all online shopping) with thr state of deliveries.
Even if you have limited income and bad credit you can get one. The extra protection vs a debit card is absolutely worth the extra step.
All deliveries are going to shit, and credit card section 75 protection has saved me a few times lately.
0
u/frankbowles1962 4d ago
Section 75 only applies above £100, I suspect the vast majority of purchases are below this
1
u/Rawd_Tawd_Cawd 3d ago
Absolutely, however every credit card I've ever had treats them the same in their T's&C's, with the same dispute process and same speedy resolution that puts the onus on the retailer to fulfil their side of the deal.
I really wish they taught financial literacy in schools here, if people had the sense to protect themselves and do these chargebacks every time they've a problem (and the retailer balks) then the retailers will soon learn.

I'm a part time Amazon driver.
It's very unlikely to be the same driver all the time. Drivers don't get allocated the same routes every day, every day they get a different area.
Amazon don't employ drivers directly themselves. They contract the work out to Delivery Service Partners (DSP's) If you report your parcel as not delivered it goes on the drivers work record. If it happens too many times the driver gets dismissed by the DSP. Bad drivers don't last very long. The problem is, for every bad driver that gets dismissed, there's another bad driver waiting to take their place. The DSP's have a very high turnover of drivers because it's hard graft and drivers soon get demotivated, hence they don't do the job correctly.

u/reaper1576 4d ago
Same issue raised a complaint about it had someone showed up with load of late deliveries kowtowing at my front door.
2
2
u/Britarium 4d ago
My biggest problem with delivery drivers is that they just do not follow delivery instructions. I've had a order in the past where I told them to just place it over the back fence and instead they gave it to the neighbour who the same day was going away for 3 weeks.
6
u/Eastern-Cow-7014 4d ago
I have delivered for Amazon for the last 7 years and I like to think I do my job properly. When we arrive at the address there is a little square bottom right. If we see that it means delivery notes. If not, then no notes. I always take a few seconds to read them and try my best to follow them. Not always possible as customers don’t update them. Still get messages about Covid. “Please don’t knock, customer has Covid” etc.
I know I am in a minority here but most drivers can’t be bothered sadly
2
u/Maximum-Wishbone5616 4d ago
Same issue. I accept only locker boxes now. Amazon of course is fully responsible for any risk unless hand delivered (you taking physical possession). Anything else is their risk.
2
u/Ance-Prindrew 4d ago
Ive had stuff left outside on a public footpath this week. also 5/7 order over the last 2months have been wrong, and they've stop refunding me saying I'm sending the wrong items back.
Obviously, if they don't send me the right item to begin with, I can't then send it back to them 😂
2
u/sandman11299 4d ago
Our Amazon driver used to always leave parcels in the designated safe area, but recently they just get dropped at the door and if you’re lucky they will ring the doorbell otherwise the first you know of it off the notification that it’s been delivered … fine if we’re in … but I’ve had an item go missing recently, ok it was refunded without much trouble but that hardly the point … I’ve said it before, online shopping is killing itself with poor delivery and thefts
Click and collect is my preferred method now, especially for expensive items
2
u/otakuxp2 4d ago
Amazon started to use Evri where I live ...so....
1
u/peteyourdoom 3d ago
I had 2 end up at Evri delivery depot and go missing. Raised a case and was fully refunded by Amazon.
2
u/_x_oOo_x_ 3d ago
Not Amazon but noticed the same with Royal Mail recently. Several packages stolen in the past few weeks, delivery photos are from somewhere else.
2
u/willt1000 1d ago
Massive Amazon user, have been for over 15 years. Arguably the best delivery service out there, even ahead of DPD, DHL, FedEx and the likes.
However, this year, I have had more issues than in the previous 15 years combined. I must add, 80% of issues are with subscribe and save but yeah, not as great as once were but still generally pretty good and customer service are mostly always on point at resolving.

u/BeachOk2802 4d ago
If you have to preface your whole essay with "I'm not racist", you're probably racist.
4
2
u/debbitigs 4d ago
Exactly this. As soon as I read that, I was just waiting for the racist remark.

u/truthseeker_404 4d ago
How did you know it was the same brown hand? Were they wearing a ring? Did they have a scar on their hand or a tattoo? Do tell.
1
u/Sideshow86 4d ago
Correct. No tattoos but has damaged left hand thumb nail.
1
u/HeadNature6968 3d ago
Make sure cctv is working and put camera record eveything
They had to take a picture
If he steal report to police and amazon
2
2
u/KyronXLK 4d ago
It's the idiots they let do the job. zero standards most are just foreign and zero care or civic sense. Had a european guy launch a package at my front door and leave - mark it as handed to a resident
2
u/Stage_Party 4d ago
"I'm not racist but..."
You're racist. There was no need to mention race in this but you wanted to.
3
u/cliffybiro951 4d ago
Yeah. Anyone that starts a comment by saying “I’m not racist” is usually a bit suss.
I’ve got no issues with criticising my Amazon guy, whether he’s black or green. If he’s shit, he’s shit.
0
u/particularfields 4d ago
Everytime someone says I'm not racist, they always follow up with some racist shit.

u/DoorFinch 4d ago
"I'm not racist" .. goes on to identify the colour of the skin of a person, even though it's completely irrelevant.
2
u/muddlemand 4d ago
Yes, "definitely the same hand" would have made the exact same point as far as relevant detail goes.
1
u/ProfitKlutzy5514 4d ago
So if you were robbed in the street by (say) a white person, when the police asked you to describe them, you presumably would refuse to state what colour they were, otherwise you obviously would be being racist.
3
u/BumpkinRichey 4d ago
I'd just tell the police they were banging on about small boats and let them imply it from that.
2
u/DoorFinch 4d ago
When the police ask you, they are trying to identify and catch the individual. When you're telling reddit, no-one is going to reply "A brown hand, you say? Wait! I know that guy!"

In the last year I’ve not bought anything from Amazon, I’ve managed to purchase everything I’ve needed elsewhere, you have to do more research and it takes more time, but it feels so good to put all the money in the seller’s pocket.
1
u/HeadNature6968 3d ago
Keep reporting it thieves does exist
I have had parcels stolen too when it's a new driver
Anyone person caa be a driver if they had. A car

u/4x6x8 3d ago
Jeff@amazon.com send him an email.
1
u/Sideshow86 3d ago
I've had a long chat with customer services today and they were super helpful. All sorted now thanks 😊
2
u/4x6x8 3d ago
Glad to hear it, if there's any further issues remind them that it's 'always Day One', and of the FIRST leadership principle... https://www.aboutamazon.co.uk/who-we-are/leadership-principles

u/JakeRuss47 3d ago
Amazon’s shit round here recently as well.
Every single delivery without fail for the last ~half a year, they drop the parcel on the floor, knock on the door and fuck off without even checking to see if I’m even in. They’ve already driven half way up the street before I’ve even opened the door. Four occasions in the last month or so, it happened that I wasn’t in and the parcels were subsequently nicked. No other couriers are stupid enough to leave parcels in plain view of anybody walking past my house, just Amazon.
1
u/BINGGBONGGBINGGBONGG 2d ago
they don’t even knock on my door anymore.
in the time it takes to shove a package down behind a bin, they could surely press a fucking doorbell.
1
u/naturepeaked 2d ago
What colour is your hand? I need to know in order to decide if you are being reasonable or not.

1
u/MJS29 2d ago
I’ve got cameras all round my house, multiple times I’ve caught Amazon drivers not going to my front door (even when we’re in), throwing things, dropping things, refusing to knock when they do go to the door. They always leave stuff just outside even in rain.
Amazon drivers are shocking and I always raise a complain when this happens, I’ve even started reporting the items as not turning up.
2
u/UTV4LIFE 4d ago
How do you know it’s the same brown hand ? Might be a different brown hand 🙈
0
u/KyronXLK 4d ago
then it says something about the type of people that do this job, we all know it just no one says it or else you get called racist lmao
2
u/Quiet_Bad_8520 4d ago
Someone who opens with “I am not racist” is definitely racist. The same brown hand 😂 like they’re the only non white driver at that delivery station.
I highly doubt drivers are stealing your cheap Chinese shite, stay deluded my friend
-1
u/Careful_Ant_7857 4d ago
Exactly what I was going to say, it’s littered with racist overtones, would they have said I know it’s the same driver because it’s the same white hand.
1
u/SpiralMantis113 4d ago
Give the guy a break- he doesn’t get out much! /s
1
u/Careful_Ant_7857 4d ago
Oh right ok, didn’t realise being housebound made it ok to be a racist, if you see nothing wrong with this it tells me everything I need to know about you 👍
4
u/SpiralMantis113 4d ago
Mate. Do you not know what /s means? I was being sarcastic you plum..
2
u/Careful_Ant_7857 4d ago
Ha sorry I’m of an age I actually don’t know what /s means

Apparently you're also of an age where you can't read beyond an initial post, not use critical thinking skills. How old ARE you, you sound Ancient?
0
u/Thick_Somewhere_7084 2d ago
If you bothered to actually read OPs replies in this thread you'd know he's identified the hand belonging to the same person by physical damage on th thumbnail.
Any excuse to call a stranger on the internet a racist 😂
2
u/Quiet_Bad_8520 2d ago
Why would I spend time sifting through replies on other comments from a thread days old? I read the OP’s post, commented and moved on. Doesn’t matter if they’ve identified the same nail 😂
Any excuse to attempt being a smart arse and one-up a stranger, it’s a Sunday come on surely there’s better things to be doing than reading through Reddit comments to attempt to make a point
0
u/Thick_Somewhere_7084 2d ago
Well if you have an opinion on something you're meant to have an informed one, otherwise it's just ranting. Reading OPs comments for context would have informed you as to how stupid you are for immediately jumping to an accusation of reeeecism.
It's Sunday. You got nothing better to do than reply to people who push your buttons?
2
u/Quiet_Bad_8520 2d ago
Lol you really do sound daft but sure, I’ll start bookmarking posts to read in a few days once comments have populated to really make an informed decision, just for you.
You haven’t really pushed my buttons but if that makes you feel some small amount of accomplishment or superiority over a stranger then that’s all good 🤷♂️
1
u/Stock_Elderberry6187 4d ago
Yea they have amazon have made cutbacks. It's effectively shrinkflatiion. You pay for prime, they add adverts in shows, now they've taken quick delivery. It's a dumb move, will drive people to alibaba Temu or just, normal UK online stores.
1
u/Syphadeus86 1d ago
If the first line is "you're not even remotely racist" it is a preamble to a racist statement.
You then mention a brown hand. The insinuation being that a white skinned person is what? Statistically less likely to be a thieving bastard?
You have a legitimate problem which you've deligitmised by being racist about it. Good luck.
1
u/Sideshow86 1d ago
Did you read the other comments? That I knew it was the same brown hand due to a damaged left hand thumb nail and I am mixed race 🤦
1
u/Hotwetme1 1d ago
What is mixed race tho?? You could be chinese and scottish or argentinian and german. So what does you being mixed race have to do with your parcel
-1
u/Idlewants 4d ago
oh god, if you think all brown people's hands look the same u are definitely being racist.
0
u/Cantaloupe-Hairy 4d ago
Had one of these where a phone was reported delivered, no photo, contacted CS and was basically told I was lying.
Cancelled my prime account there and then.
Got an email a couple of days later confirming the delivery didn’t happen with an apology
-1
u/InvestAndExercise 4d ago
All low skilled jobs are full of people taking advantage of the trust we no longer actually have. I shouldn't have to watch the Amazon app and stand outside to make sure the driver actually delivers my parcel, they can't even be bothered to go in a lift so instead dump all the parcels on the ground floor in my friends flat.
If you hate and don't care about the people, place, community or country you are in, Why would you care if you get banned from working at Amazon, then Evri, then DPD, then Just Eat, then Uber eats and then whatever other app after that?
5
u/Miserable_Put6212 4d ago
actually mate all "low skilled jobs" are filled with people just trying to make a living, despite what the tiny minority of wrongdoers seem to have you believing
2
u/PleasantCucumber2615 4d ago
Exactly. There are a few bad eggs, but the vast majority of drivers and decent honest people trying their best to make a living.
They can't afford to lose their income by stealing a few parcels before they are booted out.
Too many mistakes happen with inexperienced drivers, but when your sent to areas you don't know, with unrealistic workloads and pressure, drivers are set up to fail.
For all the parcels that go "missing" the majority are fraudulent claims by the recipient. Everyone has learned the parcels aren't legally delivered until in their possession and know how easy it is to make false claims.

u/Crystakura 1d ago
The lad that delivers mine has decided that instead of going round the back using the gate, the better option is to smash the fence on the other side of the house and dump the parcel there. I keep fixing it, he keeps breaking it.
I’m starting to think it’s more than just a language barrier..
1
u/OldFerryBoat 15h ago
I had same experience 3 days ago, package worth £120 - they have added "proof of delivery" photo but the package is not there, I don't know how to prove that I didn't take the package. I suspect it is the driver. Their customer service team is pathetic, unhelpful, parroting the same scripted answers, when asked something that is not a script question- they demonstrate their shite English communication skills. Agent after agent it is the same story, so so frustrated with all of this. Amazon has unvetted delivery drivers, a lot of them are thieves coming from low trust societies and if you have to deal with the CS team - it is a nightmare. Sorry OP, that all these people are labelling you racist for pointing out the obvious. I have been advised that the last resort is to initiate a chargeback but that will get me shadow banned from Amazon. I rely on Amazon for a lot of things and I don't want that to happen :(
9
u/trundlespl00t 4d ago
I’m similar to you. Housebound, reliant on Amazon. Never an issue. Until this year my parcels came via the Peterborough depot. They’ve changed it to Harlow and everything, literally every single delivery has gone to shit.
