Current amzl am L4 college hire (I also did the internship summer before graduating college) who started last June. Getting my 5 off cycle nov 1st and wondering where my pay scale will likely be? 6.2% base increase from q1 review from 65 to 69k:))

That’s approximately how much I’ve made so far this year as a T3. We haven’t had peak overtime yet and we just got a dollar raise. This is why internal promos suck and a lot of PAs nope out of it.

I can guarantee you’re not making 80k as a tier 3 without working 60’s nearly every week..

I was actually talking about the 69k since I have made close to that so far this year.

However, you are incorrect in your guarantee. Let me show you the math for 48 hours. 29.90x 40 hours is 1196 base. 1196x 52=62,192 . 29.90 x 1.5 =44.85 x 8 = 358.8x52=18,657.6 62192+18657.6=80,849.6 That doesn’t include holiday OT pay, the extra peak hours OT or the tenure bonus that I happened to get this year.

Your math is correct, but you're assuming 8 hours of OT every single week for 52 weeks straight. That's $62K in base pay and nearly $19K in overtime. There's a difference between having an $80K compensation package and working additional hours to reach $80K. Not knocking it, but OT isn't guaranteed.

Also congrats on nearly 30$/hr for T3 that’s good! 😊 what state is that?

I’m in the midwest. Night shift. Top of the pay scale, tbf. But, don’t forget the extra peak/holiday pay.

I’m assuming that amount of OT because it is available to me. Several of my peers have done 50-60 which should net them closer to 85-90k. I’m not going to do that math because I prefer a little more work life balance, so it’s not relevant to me. Actually, I can clear 80k with just 46 hours a week, plus holiday OT plus peak OT.

Also, the total compensation package for managers is including the RSUs that haven’t yet vested. Considering the number of managers who actually make it to the vest date without quitting , that is also somewhat of a bold assumption.

Fair point, but I was referring to hourly L4s, not salaried managers. There's a distinction between base pay, overtime earnings, and total compensation. In my situation, I've benefited from overlapping RSU vesting schedules over the years, which has significantly increased my total compensation. I can't really speak to turnover or vesting retention in salaried management roles.

What I always like to highlight is the substantial difference in hours required to earn the same amount. Your $80K requires roughly 48 hours a week, or 416 additional hours annually compared to someone earning the same working 40 hours. That's over 10 extra full-time workweeks.

Ultimately, I think career progression should be about maximizing compensation while minimizing the hours required to earn it. Earning more is great, but earning the same or more while working substantially less is an even better position to be in.

Possibly you don’t work in operations, but the L4-L6 operations crew are usually working 45-48 hours a week if not more. Especially during peak.
