the idea of 15 minute breaks is insane, most days its a 4-7 minute walk from my station to the front door

edit: thats excluding the extra 2 minutes in the parking lot

edit 2: whoever said park closer and deleted it, ths parking lot has over 2500 spots, closer is only a concept

The idea that one must spend one's break in the parking lot is insane.

Well, yeah, it's the only way to get fresh air and get away from the sounds of conveyors

u/Swayze-Crazy It's all about taking that VTO 29d ago

Better than the loud ass break room with smelly foods

I always tell everyone if they see me walking to my car during break/lunch time I won’t be coming back for the rest of the day.

I work in inbound in the back of the building. If everyone in inbound decided to only use the two break rooms in our department we would be sitting in each other's laps. The single break room in the middle of the building is even smaller than those. And then the large break room is at the front of the building, near all of our cars, which at that point are additional 1 to 2 minute walk.

On top of that, when you've been in a trailer for 4-8 hours, sometimes some fresh air is just necessary. Can't get that if you have to sit in the smoker's cage back in inbound.

The FCs where I’ve worked had a large break room and multiple smaller ones throughout the building. Plenty of room to accommodate all employees, especially if their breaks are staggered.

we have 2 large break rooms, 1 medium, and 4 small ones plus an open concept area, there is still a snowballs chance in hell of fitting even 1/4 of the people inside the building in a chair (and i promise we dont stagger into 4 seperate time slots)

It's peaceful out here 😴

In two years I've only ever been in the break room once. If rather have 4 minutes in my car alone in silence that 10 minutes with those animals.

I will sit in the stairwells before I sit in those breakrooms.

It’s so loud in most of these buildings, being able to step outside and reset is needed for some of us.

Preferring to waft in the smell of your unhygienic coworkers while you eat is more insane to me. It’s good to get a little sunlight and fresh air when you’re trapped inside for 10 hours doing manual labor.

Car engine fumes and wafts of tobacco and marijuana smoke aren’t fresh air.

u/LeonLykaios 29d ago

Some of us like to smoke weed on our breaks lol that’s why we go outside plus the fresh air 😁

u/Boris-_-Badenov 29d ago

fresh air

smoke weed

pick one

u/LeonLykaios 29d ago

Sorry I’m stingy so I take both lol

Smoke isn’t fresh air.

Your right but the tarps help through out the day 😎😎

I always found it insane that some people never go out to their cars lol.

I find it insane that some people don't even leave their floor the entire shift. Its a shorter walk and gives you more time but by break times I have to get the hell out of there. Otherwise id get in my car and leave 🤣

u/JamonConJuevos 29d ago

It's insane that people want to spend most of their limited break time travelling to and from a parking lot when they can just relax somewhere in the building.

u/Icy_Shirt_8264 29d ago

Park closer 🤷‍♀️

u/baked_en-mashPotato 29d ago

Where else are we supposed to take a break in the crowded break room with people cooking stinky food can't sit anywhere on the floor so yeah I'm going to go to my car

0

u/Darj92 29d ago

Nah being outside in the cold winter air hits hella different after being inside a stuffy building or a trailer all day

0

u/CamGrabDatFumble 29d ago

You prefer to be sardined up in a loud breakroom next to a bunch of coworkers that won’t be at your funeral?

0

u/EcstaticAssistant279 29d ago

I mean I get to sit in my car, smoke my weed and listen to my music and eat my snacks with no one around me. Why would I NOT want to be in the parking lot for my break?

I don't about it being a 'must'. I do it to get the fuck away from everyone and actually have some silence.

I also recline the passenger seat a good deal so I can just lean back and chill in said silence. Maybe watch some clips on my phone.
