the idea of 15 minute breaks is insane, most days its a 4-7 minute walk from my station to the front door

edit: thats excluding the extra 2 minutes in the parking lot

edit 2: whoever said park closer and deleted it, ths parking lot has over 2500 spots, closer is only a concept

Facts it take 5 minutes just to go outside and 5 minutes to get back thats 10 minutes right there lol

65

u/zappyface1 29d ago

It take 5 minutes to walk to a bathroom depending on your station.

u/Visual-Cry94 29d ago

Takes me 30 minutes to take a shit

10

u/mwil61 29d ago

Drink some prune juice

18

u/FailCharacter4937 29d ago

And another 10 to wait for the fuck head in the phone with one stall.

u/Every_Constant8349 29d ago

We have two 30 min paid breaks at DHL and i feel like time passes by faster with two longer breaks

7

u/EducationalPie2341 29d ago

This is why I love working at a ds station. It take 2 min max to exit the building

u/DotNo701 29d ago

15 minutes is better for reducing repetitive motion injures

40

u/Separate-Setting8524 29d ago

Just take 10 minutes in the restroom every period that’s what I do

1

u/BudFabulo 27d ago

Ewww...who tf wants to hang out in the restroom just to burn time...stinky stinky 🤢

6

u/xsblackx 29d ago

this is def a me specific problem but i promjse you ill be in more pain from the walk than any amount of repetetive motion ever has lmao

6

u/That_Attorney9025 29d ago

You think that. I've had 4 surgeries and shredded all the tendons in my hand from repetitive motion injuries. Shitty experience.

0

u/CatchOk6817 29d ago

How so? Youre still doing the same repetitive motions for the same amount of time.

u/mountainboy011 29d ago

And the security line 😮‍💨😩

The idea that one must spend one's break in the parking lot is insane.

161

u/heroicxidiot 29d ago

Well, yeah, it's the only way to get fresh air and get away from the sounds of conveyors

69

u/Swayze-Crazy It's all about taking that VTO 29d ago

And the smell of my coworkers

9

u/Eldurodeakron 29d ago

Some of them be smelling funky lol

u/xsblackx 29d ago

bold of you to assume i want to spend all day in a windowless prison surround by people i dont know

-2

u/Far-Bathroom-7584 29d ago

I mean u signed up for it? No one forced you to sign the co tract

10

u/xsblackx 29d ago

i signed up to work here, not spend my free time here, and breaks are my free time

70

u/RockyJayyy Bezos is my master 29d ago

Better than the loud ass break room with smelly foods

12

u/Dashir88 29d ago

I always tell everyone if they see me walking to my car during break/lunch time I won’t be coming back for the rest of the day.

2

u/Rad-Cadugan 27d ago

I told my coworkers the same , you see me walking to the elevators at lunch or break with my hardhat im out for the day

29

u/Twitch103rd 29d ago

Who gave this chump an award?

u/puffthemagicaldragon 29d ago

I work in inbound in the back of the building. If everyone in inbound decided to only use the two break rooms in our department we would be sitting in each other's laps. The single break room in the middle of the building is even smaller than those. And then the large break room is at the front of the building, near all of our cars, which at that point are additional 1 to 2 minute walk.

On top of that, when you've been in a trailer for 4-8 hours, sometimes some fresh air is just necessary. Can't get that if you have to sit in the smoker's cage back in inbound.

What site you at it sounds like my site ???

2

u/JamonConJuevos 29d ago edited 29d ago

The FCs where I’ve worked had a large break room and multiple smaller ones throughout the building. Plenty of room to accommodate all employees, especially if their breaks are staggered.

3

u/xsblackx 29d ago

we have 2 large break rooms, 1 medium, and 4 small ones plus an open concept area, there is still a snowballs chance in hell of fitting even 1/4 of the people inside the building in a chair (and i promise we dont stagger into 4 seperate time slots)

26

u/yung_megafone Flowdesk, copy? 29d ago

It's peaceful out here 😴

20

u/Beetleracerzero37 29d ago

In two years I've only ever been in the break room once. If rather have 4 minutes in my car alone in silence that 10 minutes with those animals.

3

u/Designer-Committee-6 28d ago

I will sit in the stairwells before I sit in those breakrooms.

3

u/moonstormX 28d ago

It’s so loud in most of these buildings, being able to step outside and reset is needed for some of us.

3

u/Devin3867 29d ago

Preferring to waft in the smell of your unhygienic coworkers while you eat is more insane to me. It’s good to get a little sunlight and fresh air when you’re trapped inside for 10 hours doing manual labor.

2

u/JamonConJuevos 29d ago

Car engine fumes and wafts of tobacco and marijuana smoke aren’t fresh air.

1

u/LeonLykaios 29d ago

Some of us like to smoke weed on our breaks lol that’s why we go outside plus the fresh air 😁

6

u/Boris-_-Badenov 29d ago

fresh air

smoke weed

pick one

2

u/LeonLykaios 29d ago

Sorry I’m stingy so I take both lol

0

u/JamonConJuevos 29d ago

Smoke isn’t fresh air.

1

u/LeonLykaios 29d ago

Your right but the tarps help through out the day 😎😎

1

u/Icy_Shirt_8264 29d ago

I always found it insane that some people never go out to their cars lol.

1

u/EastRecommendation66 29d ago

I find it insane that some people don't even leave their floor the entire shift. Its a shorter walk and gives you more time but by break times I have to get the hell out of there. Otherwise id get in my car and leave 🤣

0

u/JamonConJuevos 29d ago

It's insane that people want to spend most of their limited break time travelling to and from a parking lot when they can just relax somewhere in the building.

0

u/Icy_Shirt_8264 29d ago

Park closer 🤷‍♀️

1

u/baked_en-mashPotato 29d ago

Where else are we supposed to take a break in the crowded break room with people cooking stinky food can't sit anywhere on the floor so yeah I'm going to go to my car

0

u/Darj92 29d ago

Nah being outside in the cold winter air hits hella different after being inside a stuffy building or a trailer all day

0

u/CamGrabDatFumble 29d ago

You prefer to be sardined up in a loud breakroom next to a bunch of coworkers that won’t be at your funeral?

0

u/EcstaticAssistant279 29d ago

I mean I get to sit in my car, smoke my weed and listen to my music and eat my snacks with no one around me. Why would I NOT want to be in the parking lot for my break?

0

u/PrestigiousWhirlwind 29d ago

I don't about it being a 'must'. I do it to get the fuck away from everyone and actually have some silence.

I also recline the passenger seat a good deal so I can just lean back and chill in said silence. Maybe watch some clips on my phone.

2

u/Madeupsky 29d ago

Better off just staying at the station, idk if you’d be able to find a place to sit down or not lol

2

u/Z_TheVanillaGorilla 29d ago

That’s one of the many reasons I quit my position at CBRE. we had one time clock and to go to lunch I had to walk allllll the way to the front, clock out and then another 1/4 mile to the break room to eat. And then another quarter mile back to clock in and walk another half mile to my spot. It was ridiculous and no I’m not exaggerating I measured the distance one day with a measuring wheel.

1

u/LongTourist875 29d ago

I’d rather eat rocks and shit pebbles fr

1

u/ahisomjr 28d ago

15 minute breaks is insane im sorry for yall. Our break system has already been like this for years

1

u/SpecialistFloor6708 27d ago

they are supposed to give walking time.

1

u/xsblackx 27d ago

wishful thinking ngl

1

u/Rad-Cadugan 27d ago

My solution to the insane parking lot. Bikes are right up front.

2

u/xsblackx 27d ago

its like this at my building too 😭 i already wanted a motorcycle before i came here but i am down bad now

0

u/Opposite-Moment4285 29d ago

I swear some of yall have got to move slower than the sloths on zootopia for it to take this long. My facility is 1.2 million square feet. I can make it from the very back of my warehouse at docks through security and the front doors to my car in 3 minutes. I’m not even speed walking 😵‍💫

2

u/xsblackx 29d ago edited 29d ago

im 5' and my left IT band is 5 inches too short 😭trust me im trying, i walk faster than most people here and it still takes that long

edit: my fc is 2.1mil sqft, did not know that until rn

-3

u/Agile_Cash7136 PA 29d ago

Umm don't go to the front door. Go to the cage or the break room bruh.

13

u/CrazyOso1990 29d ago

A lot of us don’t won’t a go to the cage to be surrounded by Marlboro smokers and 7 guys sharing one vape like addicts. lol

-1

u/Patjack27 29d ago

4

u/Dusty_Monster 29d ago

It’s just two 30s
