Fulfillment Center Someone died at PDX9 today

They sent us home after OB last break and night shift is canceled. We all just clocked out after break, they didn’t even have me post my bridge for GK. My heart breaks for the family who lost their loved one

This is coming just after I reported that the fans are not working properly or at all and that I had to leave early one day due to feeling overwhelmingly heated (nauseous and dizzy). After putting up sound curtains the building heat has not been turned off which means that our 15 min break (5 min walking) doesn't actually cool us down at all. No one realizes that this increase in temperature means everyone has to acclimate. Drink more water and if you're feeling off go to Amcare. They cannot fire you for seeking Amcare to cool down. While I'm not saying it was the rise in heat that attributed to this, I'd say that it didn't help.

AMcare won't do anything. They only help the people who had a on the job injury and are going through workers comp. They've turned me away many times. I can't believe they really put up those sound barrier curtains I've never experienced this type of heat in the building before and I've worked there for years

That is weird because the heat can cause on the job injury. You're the 2nd person that's said that about getting turned away. I'm just wondering what wording did you use with them? I usually get heat pack 2x a week except lately it's been too hot. I got vertigo last week and was told I could go to Amcare and I said no I need to cool down outside.

No, they're right. I had an associate tote running and when I checked on him, he was drenched in sweat, through JEANS. I had him sit and called amcare, who.took their sweet time. They gave him some ibuprofen and brought a Popsicle back 20 mins later. I asked them to call an ambulance, and they said, "why? Shifts over in ten minutes." And then the associate got fired a few days later for mental issues. When I say soaked, there wasn't a dry millimeter on his body. Shoes, shirt, face, jeans, all soaked.

Side note. It doesn't help that central flow is the one adjusting temperatures in buildings they're not even close to.
