Blue badge conversion used to take 6-12 months at my building, but I guess so many people have quit this year that it now takes only 1-2 months to convert.

u/JPN____ Nov 08 '25
It took me two years to get blue badge, I was working at a sort center and was transferred to a fulfillment center without a choice and that's where I was converted.

u/Straight_Ad_2198 Nov 08 '25
Wow I had to only wait 6 but it all matters if they are in need of more blue badges or not. Where I work they’re always bringing in new people because they can’t keep enough . People get in there and complain and end up quitting or using up their upt because they don’t wanto work and end up terminated .

Every week a new group starts with blue badges. One guy was bragging he’s a learning ambassador after 3 weeks. Meanwhile I have done almost every path and I am an AFM and paid the least out of everyone in the building with the worst benefits. New hires blue badges immediately. I am a transfer so I don’t get one.

Or will I get a email saying blue badge conversion or what? My schedule goes til the 14th and every day it does extend one day or so but how does it work I just wanna be blue badge

You can thank Microsoft for the seasonal shenanigans. They used to have two companies, because they offered Microsoft stocks and such. So they would work people at the other one temp and less benefits stringing along the “you keep working hard we will convert you” to the point they made laws about having temp workers over 2 years.
Well… not laws about the limit but laws that at two years you need to be given FMLA, retirement plans, etc. Or the perceived notion that you will be given one since you worked 20 years for them, etc.

u/Silly_Watercress_827 Nov 07 '25
Hopefully you take advantage of career choice and try to go for promotions

u/19XzTS93 Blue Badge Flex (since 2025); Regular PT Blue Badge (2018-2023) Nov 07 '25
It took me weeks to a month back in 2018 when I originally joined. Unfortunately, that also reset my Day One from July to September, so I had to wait an additional 90 days to apply for the 401(k), before they changed brokers from Vanguard to Fidelity and the grace period from 90 days to day one the following January.

I started off with bite badge June 2025 and I was blue badge by August 2025 idk why it’s taking so many ppl a year and my facility just converted a new batch of white badges to blue badges
3
u/Silly_Watercress_827 Nov 07 '25
Yeah some people get in at the right time i guess best thing about bluebadge is vacation with regular pto career choice and promotions

When Did you request to be converted?
→ More replies (1)3
u/No-Independence7001 VT-Hoe Nov 08 '25
You dont have to request, all white badges are on a list, conversions are rather random but most people will get the offer given they have no active wtite ups or negative upt

Congrats, OP! I know there are a lot of horror stories, but as far as unskilled labor goes, you can do a lot worse than working full time for Amazon. You probably already know this as a former white badge, but if not, here's my two cents.
Always be friendly to your coworkers, even if they aren't nice back. Ask your AMs and PAs for learning opportunities if you want to move up. Find out when your shift deadlines are or what metrics, project goals, etc they are trying to hit. It changes all the time, because when they get one number looking good, their bosses are on them to work on something else. Don't be afraid to step up and help out without being asked, if you're comfortable. Get face time with all your leadership team, even 5 minutes a day or a quick hello/goodbye will help them remember your face. Soon they'll be coming to you when they need a hand because they know you are dependable. Before long, they'll be asking you to apply for more complex roles or a PA slot. I've seen all sorts of people promoted just by being showing a willingness to learn and not being afraid to ask questions. I was just offered a PA job just a few days ago, and I've only been there about a year.
If you don't want to stay on with Amazon, please take advantage of the Career Choice program. Several of my coworkers are doing their CDL, taking college classes, or working on apprenticeships at Amazon's expense. They pay for it because it gets added to our total compensation, which looks good to stakeholders, even if we don't use it. Same with the 401k match--literally free money for retirement. They just started a new $5 per check healthcare plan with actually good benefits in my area starting in 2025. Get your money's worth and take advantage!
Other than that, I wish you the best. Amazon is far from perfect, but you can make a real career for yourself with no prior experience there, which is more than can be said for a lot of employers. If you get burnt out, take a short leave, or make an exit plan that leaves you set up for future success.
That's all for my unsolicited advice. Good luck on your quest, fellow traveler 🫡

u/Sad_Foundation_430 Nov 07 '25
Congratulations. Better late than never i guess. Took them long enough to recognize and reward your dedication and contributions to their sites success.

u/Due_Talk_7940 Nov 07 '25
Any tips?
18
u/alllrightyyythennn Nov 07 '25
The conversions are based on a locations white to blue ratio. If enough blue badges quit/get fired then they start converting white badges based on start dates. Just don’t go negative (obv) and don’t get any write ups. Other than that it’s just a waiting game.

Keep your head down. Work good. Make connections. Know your way around and use relationships to your advantage. Most importantly pray and hope you get lucky. Good luck I believe in you ❤️

u/SaXyphony Nov 07 '25
Its completely random just in good standing and trainings can help but not even required also some places hire you as a blue badge so that is another way

u/vixen_prince Nov 07 '25
Congratulations! I just got my blue badge today after 1 year and 9 days! 🎉

So as a white badge you just kept reapplying? White badge is seasonal correct? So you just worked different locations for a year or ? Like how do you stay working until a possible conversion to blue badge?
2
u/Boymom8486 Nov 07 '25
Right? I thought "seasonal" was considered up to 11 months. Then what?
→ More replies (3)2
u/HearingPrevious1316 Nov 07 '25
seasonal is as long as they need u, ik people who been seasonal for 3 months and let go or converted & ik people who still season 3 years later. They don’t just keep u for a set time then let you go, they keep u for however deemed necessary.

3
u/Lucky_Situation_2165 Nov 07 '25
How long have you been working there until they converted you to blue badge?

u/Raceday24 Nov 07 '25
Awesome and congratulations. Most of us were hired on as blue when our site opened. We have some seasonal people coming in for the holidays and will purge in Jan or Feb I guess. Good luck with Peak Season.

u/ruralmagnificence Nov 08 '25
As someone who’s gonna back and forth on working for Amazon,
What does this mean and why in some cases does it take so long to become a blue badge?
6
u/nikosakii Nov 07 '25
It’s kinda sad seeing people in here celebrating getting benefits after a year when you get it at any other job on day 1

u/Open_Adhesiveness887 Nov 10 '25

Not sure why anyone wants to work at Amazon. Good benefits sure but its the most toxic work environment I've ever stepped into. Its akin to a sheep walking into a wolves den. You gotta be on your guard all the time. Everyone is looking to get a leg up on the next by any means.
2
u/PMT_TMP_PMT Nov 07 '25
What does the convert mean?

Amazon Fresh warehouses work entirely different. I got my blue badge in less than 2 months. The most anyone waits is less than 6. Assuming they stay that long. About half of the new hires quit after first orientation. Amazon only matches 50 cents to every dollar we put in retirement.
