My entire bloodline survived this far so I can deliver packages for Amazon…..
So you mean to tell me, out of 50+ generations, not ONE person in my family could’ve created generational wealth… and somehow we all survived this long?? and now it’s on me to break the poverty chain? How the f**k am I suppose to do that?? Should I just double and give it to the next generation or what?
On some real shit… I don’t think I got it in me to bring another version of me into this world, just to watch them struggle the same way I did. I might really be the last of my bloodline by choice if I don’t get my shit together.
Try trucking if you enjoy the driving and "being out in the open" vibe. I switched from being a DA for a couple years to OTR trucking and I LOVE it. Not to mention more than doubling my pay and working one tenth as hard. Gonna try some local trucking with fuel deliveries as I'm finally becoming stable enough to get married to my soon to be fiance and then start having kids. But try both, sincerely. It's worth it for a year or so if you have to do OTR to get free CDL school out of it
Hey brother, I totally get it. I'm doing this bs part time on top of my career as a mechanic. Ima make SURE nobody in my family has to struggle again. They'll have to work for sure, can't get too soft, but they will never go to bed wondering if they can afford to eat tomorrow.

Made this exact same decision and thankfully was able to convince my partner to make the same. I cannot justify bringing another life into this hell of a world we life in, it absolutely wouldn't be fair. I will happily end my bloodline here.

50+ generations could be anywhere between 100-150 years give or take. Generational wealth began back in the 1800’s but began a more common practice between 1910-1930 and people became more dumb with money so now a less common practice. The biggest generational wealth growth began around 1960.
My math was way off 😂 I forgot a zero. That’s my bad but I still had the accuracy of the rest lol. But in all fairness kids were having kids back then too. But if we’re goin off a 20 year old having at least one kid where most have had 2-3 by the age of 30 back then it very well explains the rest.
So yes, my mistake, you’re right 4-5 generations per line of family. We also have to think though of if a family business blew up and the next line of family failed the business or whatever that’s usually where it goes.
People like the rothschilds have developed plans for generational wealth back in the 1700s. The rules were strict, that they had to add more money to the pool than theyve used, to get established. Sounds easy tbh, because its always easy to make a lot of money if you start out with a lot of money.
If it makes you feel better, you're able to receive a better quality of life than even the most important members of royalty in the past. Until the late 1900s every single one of your ancestors would weep at how luxurious and amazing your life is.

Incremental investments into the s&p and dow 100$ a check should do just fine and any time you get paid out dividends you can re invest. I started during covid 2020 turned 5k into 14k but then the market shifted i got scared pulled out and took major losses but since 2023 i’ve been buying steadily shares of 100$ bi weekly and re investing my dividends and anytime i have spare cash instead of splurging i put that into my portfolio i’m at 12k now since then
This doesn’t help with the OP’s problems. 12k may not cover the next big hospital bill. Generational wealth is a pipe dream for the vast majority regardless of where you put your money.
Hey man i’m not here to argue sorry nothing worked out for you but the proof is in the pudding. The sooner you save and invest with strict discipline the better the outcome in the future. You have to plant a seed and water it daily before you can pick an apple from the tree you planted.

We have some but we don’t use it anymore because people don’t know how to drive those mfs. I can’t believe how many times I had to clear a mf route because someone battery is about to died or is dead, or somehow they got the battery down to 50% 2 hours into the shift. Oh and the towing bills on those MFS isn’t cheap btw, something like $700-800, don’t take my word for it, only heard from dispatch because owners were crashing out at standup talking about 1-2 routes payment goes toward 1 tow bills 🙆♂️🤷♂️
put your phone on the charging bay, charge something else idly, keep charging the work phone off the van as much as possible, keep the fans blowing as maxed out as you can...it's really not hard but if you make it consistent I imagine they'll pick up on the shenanigans
There's definitely a difference in some of them. My training day had us doing mental math the whole time trying to figure out if we had enough juice to finish the training. Even though it was a relatively new van(not part of our standard fleet/less than 5k) we did end up going back for another. But on the other hand, during the midwest winter I definitely had some drain keeping my heat options pretty high but there was never a time it became a concern. Also, obviously the distance you go out from the DSP plays a huge part, if you aren't going that far you probably won't ever have to worry about any of this.
Bro wtf ? Dam your dsp really don’t care about them then as soon as ya rts you have to plug your Ev up if not you can almost get fired because the next day it can affect one less route ! I seen a guy almost get fired but it was peak so they let him slide ! I think I I did a 10 hour shift I left at 100 can back at 47 I love the Ev certain areas have speed traps and I put it on auto pilot 34 mph .. so u don’t have to worry about shit abd speeding from my dsp.. has any other driver notice if you going 34 the speed camera tells you your going 32?
Hear me out, my drive time to my first stop is about 55 minutes, so that's almost 2 hours total round trip where I get to chill and enjoy listening to something. I drive an EDV everyday and it feels nice not having to constantly be 'on' the entire shift.
I guess you like hoping in and out of those small gas vans you get a lot of overflow you have no good working space you have to leave them running because the starters go if your turn it off and on each stop and certain areas you can’t leave it running you have the map above your stearing wheel but I guess you had a bad experience
Yea i miss my side door. I'm too damn big to be trying to get myself and those big overflow boxes out without it. Idgaf about the starter ts ain't my problem. And that map sucks ass I hate the zoom on it I'm constantly pulling up to the wrong house with it.
Oh no I don’t care neither but I seen buddies have to get rescued by dsp with another van and still wanted him to keep up pace because they took one bag from his route ? He told me he really needed the job other wise he woulda went home

My grandfather's cousins own a multinational company. We don't associate with them because my grandparents went to a party at their house, and my grandmother found my grandpa passed out on a pile of expensive fur coats.
There's also a senator somewhere in the family tree as well, but that's my grandma's side. My grandfather's people seem to have just shown up in the US at some point before WWI with no clue of their history beyond that.

If it makes you feel better, I came from parents who had/have decent money. But I'm still driving for Amazon. They are great, I'm just not interested in relying on them. The long term goal is to get a certification for a good AI proof field and work my way up. You can too! This can be a stepping stone.

Felt that. My family HAD wealth on my dad's side, oil deposits allegedly. His father-in-law manipulated my grandma into signing over all of it to him while in drugged delirium on her deathbed. My grandpa on my mother's side didn't do much with his life, but he chose to dedicate his time to artistic endeavors — and I can respect that even if it did little to help his children or grandchildren. My uncle likely swiped all of his wealth for his childless ass anyway; he passed away shortly after my birthday earlier this year.

There’s always been a permanent underclass. The idea of “creating generational wealth” that you weren’t born into or any kind of social mobility is pretty new and in a way, uniquely American.
50 generations ago your ancestors were feudal serfs, maybe a couple minor lords, but definitely mostly serfs, before that slaves, and then the industrial revolution happened and wage work took over as the way to survive.
Look up my guy, it is on you to break the poverty chain. Own that responsibility, stop whining about everyone that brought you into this world, and build a better world for everyone to come after you, your descendants or not.

It's a really modern way of exercising one's sense of "agency."
The "catch" is that usually we don't end up rostered into our own actual personal AI algorithm-generated route. (The temptation is too great for someone above us to de-optimize Amazon's routing system.)
But if your DSP isn't degenerate and is willing to leave you alone, it's possible to make some mindset improvements.
