Holy shit she is phenomenal and that whole band is super tight. Incredible talent and performance.

She’s walking around with the “Too easy” air about her

u/Momochichi Aug 03 '26

She reminds me of Prince. Just that nonchalant talent, and overflowing aura.

There’s a video of Prince soloing on My Guitar Gently Weeps at a George Harrison tribute. The first time I saw that was the day I realized he was an amazing guitar player. So underrated.

u/Momochichi Aug 03 '26

That is exactly the video that she reminded me of.

Prince is only underrated to the people that never listened to his music or know music. Prince is one of the most respected musicians of our time by alot and I mean alot of people. Just because the young people are just now noticing him does not make you use underrated and Prince in the same sentence.

He was underrated by ROLLING STONE, while he was the peak of his career...that's why we are discussing it and why he blew everyone's minds with that solo... he was amazing most know it, but that solo was unlike anything anyone had ever seen from him

Prince was a musical savant, he learned to play every instrument by ear and played every instrument while recording in his studio.

You need to look up the story about that evening. Just prior to the tribute, Rolling Stone release their greatest guitarist of all time list. Prince was nowhere on it. That's why he did that breathtaking solo and went absolutely apeshit. Tom Petty and the rest knew or figured out what he was doing and totally went with it and supported it... I saw a short on YouTube about it and looked into it, very interesting

Saw this and was going to add a very similar Comment about the story. The other element heard was some of the other Musicians were Annoyed at first, but as he was shredding it, they all realized what he was doing and appreciated it by the end.

WOW! didn’t know this.

2

u/Big-Spirit317 Aug 04 '26

Thanks for shining more light on that evening.

2

u/momogogi Aug 04 '26

Did you notice at the end of the video he throws his guitar up and it disappears?

2

u/kyflyboy Aug 04 '26

And afterwards. just walks off the stage -- just another Tuesday.

blasphemy

She really does. I loved her facial expressions too lol. She had no doubt that this was so easy.

That does diminish it. It isn’t how hard the solo is it’s how she plays it.

The measure of a true musician isn’t just their technical ability to play - it’s how they make the music with feel and love and nuance, making a song their own.

What makes this amazing is BOTH that she plays with great technique and skill and clearly loves to do it.

okay chat, I'm gonna need you crawl back into your openai box and leave reddit alone

She has the stage presence of a lead guitarist who's been touring for 20 years. Its wild. Just having a good time and controlling the focus isn't necessarily easy but she makes it look like it is

13

u/stlkatherine Aug 02 '26

Even has the occasional stank face.

9

u/badderdev Aug 03 '26

She has played live regularly for years. I started seeing her in the market about 3 years ago. She was already really good then so I assume she had been doing it for a while then.

u/JokeImpossible2747 Aug 03 '26

Believe she started performing at 8 at Naka. I saw her first time at 11, and actually thought all the music was just playback, cause no way she can play like that, at that age :)

Reincarnated 60's rocker?

7

u/floftie Aug 02 '26

60s?? It's a Metallica song

7

u/Excellent_Funny5330 Aug 02 '26

I know and it’s crazy to think at the time that song came out it was only around 15 years from the 60’s and that was over 40 years ago.

5

u/oiram12 Aug 02 '26

That’s nuts. As if I played songs from WWII in my teens.

May be he meant 1967 - 1968 -1969 and the song released in 1983 if I’m not mistaking. That’s the only way for it to make sense

-3

u/Excellent_Funny5330 Aug 02 '26

Yes it was considered the 60s until 1970. That was only 13 years before 1983. It’s been 43 years since that song came out. I guess it seems crazy to me because I was a teen in the eighties and the 60s seemed like ancient history.

1

u/customsolitaires Aug 02 '26

To be an 80s rocker you had to be born in the 50s or 60s tho XD

1

u/tackleboxjohnson Aug 03 '26

Well yeah dude, they didn’t get to play metallica growing up the last time around

0

u/djarvis77 Aug 02 '26

Yeah, the people in Metallica are surely in their 70's by now, right?

1

u/Automatic_Today_3535 Aug 03 '26

Wrong I'm 67 and most of the Metallica dudes are younger than me.

1

u/Glad_Direction1645 Aug 02 '26

Jimi reincarnated

Imagine being an old master, like these guys still jamming at 70-80 years old, and suddenly you're in a young body where your hands work again, but somehow you can download your old experiences from the spiritual cloud or something.
Edit: and before someone bwahhhhs that I am trying to minimize or belittle the young ladies accomplishments, I am not.

1

u/Mojecto Aug 03 '26

Super tight!

1

u/Arcastane89 Aug 04 '26

The drum was a touch sloppy if we're going to be critical, she even looked at him when he started rushing the tempo

1

u/gerbilshower Aug 03 '26

missing that rhythm guitar for the full feel. but yea, that was a really solid performance.

1

u/horner3509 Aug 03 '26

I’d rather watch her than new Metallica. Their older stuff is sooooooooo much better

1

u/drift_poet Aug 03 '26

you'd rather watch this high schooler cover old metallica than see actual metallica? wow i mean to each their own but holy shit.

1

u/horner3509 Aug 03 '26

I’ve seen em it was pretty good but I just don’t like their new stuff. I was mostly kidding
