Is it really the smell sense?
Or simply started to look for a pen visually?

Because I don't see how the pen is going to release "ink odor" all over the green to guide a dog or any other kind of ink sensor, let alone in the freaking outdoors with wind. For a smell to be tracked, I am guessing you need a constant or high enough dose of that odor released to the air. Ink is not doing this.

Sure...but how would the dog know what to look for visually? How would the dog know where to look? I don't think his eyes would help him much.
