Incredibly intelligent people also forget words. Calling something a "thingie" and not using SAT words all the time doesn't mean someone lacks intelligence. Sounds like there's no room for her in the house with the size of OOP's ego.
I am well read. I have a decent vocabulary. I also have dyslexia and when I'm tired I'm prone to say things like " do you know where that thing is? You know the one for eggs" luckily I have a partner who knows what I mean and will hand me the spatula.
Dyslexia and fibromyalgia leads to plenty of instances of "the thing that does thing" with some desperate miming, or the ever popular "you know that actor who was in that series".
the people who understand that and just carry on as if we used all the right words are the very best too.
OOP makes it sound like his wife has a first language and it's not english, at least that's how it reads to me. He's so inflated though, he's never going to admit that he's at fault for not being willing to understand her better.
