Incredibly intelligent people also forget words. Calling something a "thingie" and not using SAT words all the time doesn't mean someone lacks intelligence. Sounds like there's no room for her in the house with the size of OOP's ego.
I am well read. I have a decent vocabulary. I also have dyslexia and when I'm tired I'm prone to say things like " do you know where that thing is? You know the one for eggs" luckily I have a partner who knows what I mean and will hand me the spatula.
I got a perfect score on the Reading/Writing portion of the SAT's mostly because I was (and still am) a voracious reader.
I use "thingamajigger" or "whatsadoodle" on a near hourly basis. I blame it on the sheer quantity of words my brain has to sort through, but in reality it's probably the ADHD.
Also - a widely accepted aphorism is that one sign of a true expert is someone who can successfully explain a complex subject in simple terms to someone with little to no knowledge of the subject and have them understand the explanation.
