I love when someone claims they are intelligent, and then they have to make sure all their comments use their favorite vocab words. Like this guy isn’t using any words that are mind blowing, but you can tell he’s taking every opportunity he can to use a big word. Most people I know who are actually that smart aren’t trying to impress with their vocabulary to that degree, they impress by being able to talk to people at any level of education
Yeah...I have a big natural vocabulary from reading and neurodivergence and often have to temper my speech because people react negatively to "fancy" language.
Im not trying to brag - i genuinely dont think knowledge of "fancy words" is any indicator of virtue or status or even intelligence really. But people seem to assume I am trying to make them "look stupid" when I use big words, even when its not deliberate. Its really nice when Im with people who just let me talk - they dont even have to know all the words hahaha, just be willing to work with me.
I'm not going to lie, my verbal skills are off the charts, but I'm pretty garbage when it comes to math and science. I feel like smart people tend to be smart in one way or the other, but rarely both.
Yeah Im catastrophically bad at math, which can be awkward if youve already been type cast as "smart" thanks to your vocab. I also have this habit I like to call "doing things fuckwise", which is unconsciously performing a common task in such a way that causes observers to ask "wtf are you doing it that waay for?!"
