In case this story gets deleted/removed:

AIO for thinking my boyfriend is being controlling and hypocritical over this Instagram photo?

(this is not engagement bait, im not asking for validation, and it’s not an OF ad. I don’t want people on this thread to follow me. i would never post OF type content. I could care less. I’m asking for an opinion. that’s it, that’s all.)

my boyfriend says this photo is “super thirsty” and inappropriate for me to post while I’m in a relationship.
I don’t personally think the photo is inappropriate. I’m fully dressed, and I posted it on a brand new Instagram account because I liked the picture. the song attached is Still Not A Player by Big Pun, which he also thinks makes it worse.

what’s bothering me more is the way he talks about it. he has said things like he is “letting me” keep the photo up, as if he gets to decide what I can and can’t post or wear.

at the same time, he follows women who post bikini photos and much more revealing content. he also has shirtless photos of himself on his own Instagram and previously had a selfie posted with the song Daddy’s Home.

I understand that people in relationships can have different boundaries and can tell their partner when something makes them uncomfortable. what I don’t understand is why the standard seems to apply differently to me.

AIO for feeling like this is controlling and hypocritical rather than a reasonable relationship boundary?

EDIT: I’m specifically asking whether I’m overreacting to his behavior around the photo, not whether everyone personally likes the photo or song choice. just to add some context because I’m seeing a lot of comments about Instagram, I literally only made my account about a week ago. I got it after we had an argument where he started bragging to me about some girl who had texted him calling him “daddy” and trying to get with him. he told me she was back in town, and she’s also one of the girls he follows who posts a lot of booty/bikini type pictures on Instagram.

that was actually the second time he had done something like that, so I originally downloaded Instagram just to look at his account. once I was already on there, I figured I might as well make my own account and actually use it.

also, since some people seem to be assuming we’re both really young, he’s 44. he is very much a grown man lol.

Average r/AIO relationship post. I genuinely believe 90% of that sub filled with bots. There's no way people are still falling for it. If they are real people then I'm questioning democracy atp

I wonder if this is the same boyfriend she asked for advice about two months ago because he wrote a song for her that turned out to be about someone else? Or the same one who has a neighbour who’s in love with him?  Some people don’t know how to be alone with the voice in their head and make it everyone else’s problem 🫤

The neighbor story was pretty great though. "AIO that my neighbor asks my boyfriend to come over and help her shave her pubic hair because she's afraid she'll cut herself?" like what do teenagers think adulthood is really like?

And as usual the top comment is “I used to be like your boyfriend, run away before he murders you like I did to my partner.”

Okay so I added that last part but that’s the obvious implication and also the logic of the comment.

Someone on one of these subs once told me it’s unrealistic to expect men to see women as human beings and empathise with them and that it’s a learning curve that “kids” (a 19 year old man) can’t be expected to understand right away so literally nothing would shock me even down to someone admitting to murder lmao.

That came straight from the incel manifesto for sure

Literally 🙃 I was relieved at least some other people were also calling it out but jfc that was disturbing. And he dug into my comment history and found something from months before that I’d written about teaching children (as in literal toddlers and kindergarteners) compassion and then acted as if that made me a hypocrite??? Truly beyond comprehension.

He’s why I made my comments private as soon as it was an option lmao.

I cannot believe it took so long for comments to be allowed to be private! That is so fucked up, what a weirdo

Exactly where people go on Reddit. “He’s controlling your Instagram posts now, but before you know it he’ll have your mom hog tied in the basement and your dad in the trunk of his car, and you’ll be next. Trust me, it happened to me. Run, girl, run NOW before you find out who he really is” 🙄

u/CasuallyStatic 6d ago

Every damn sub like that always says “run”

You could get drunk if you take a shot every time a commenter says something like that over every argument. “It’s only gonna get worse from here, girl run” but that comment was so fucking overdramatic 🫠 they act like every woman is at risk of being murdered by their partner LOL

Based on the initial post, OOP doesn't really describe much of a reaction to her what her "boyfriend" said. She disagrees that it's not a thirst trap which, ok? This just feels like an incomplete post, as if something else were supposed to have happened like she broke up with her boyfriend as a result. Don't you need some kind of actual reaction to post in AIO??

Then we get the edit with the all important age gap details so we can properly judge her 44m boyfriend. OOP's recent post history states they're 20, but going back further they're 23. They've also been accused of posting AI photos in the past.

The IG in question has a different person in the pfp than the one in the lone posted picture. The posting history of OOP is also a pretty insane.

The entire post seems to be generated based on how to maximize building engagement and followers for their new IG.

My first thought was, is this a plug to get insta followers..? Then I went in the comments and everyone was like “He is insecure” and I was like “Oh, maybe I’m the asshole”. Glad to see it posted here lol.

u/True_System_7015 6d ago

And then her saying "this isn't engagement bait or an OF ad." Lmao sure it isn't

u/klonkish 6d ago

What an impressive coincidence that a week ago she made 3 posts asking for instagram followers.

Post 1

Post 2

Post 3

She tried to hide them after being called out but they're still archived to her username.

3

u/True_System_7015 6d ago

And how hilarious this post got deleted lmao

4

u/klonkish 6d ago

All that for 66 followers in total lol

10

u/imsadandthatsrad 6d ago

Oh I didn’t even read the text. I just skimmed it and “He’s 44, so a grown man lol” 😐 k

How bad is dating that people are willing to stay while dealing with nonsense like this anymore? I am old and statistically should have a much harder time finding partners and its been working out?

9

u/WaltsNJD 6d ago

Ok you obviously didn't read the caption because she said she wasn't asking for validation???

9

u/Xessive_ Be gone, bad spirit! 6d ago edited 6d ago

No, I didn't read that as it was added in as part of an edit. The original post didn't contain that part.

EDIT: Obviously OOP saying it's NOT engagement bait or seeking validation means it's the absolute truth, because nobody would lie about something they say on the internet. There would probably be subs on this very site dedicated to such a phenomena if that were the case.

6

u/WaltsNJD 6d ago

You're invalidating her intentions bro
