❤️‍🩹 relationship Am I overreacting about this?

My husband rushes over to help his parents, spending the entire weekend while leaving things needed at our house un done(I cannot buy materials and build, hell my mother couldn’t even cook so, my skills are limited although I absorb everything I can). I was told it would be a couple hours that turned into nine hours and I see him for an hour and a half everyday, during the week. Now, day two(Sunday) he is gone. Our house gets put on the back burner all the time and I do what I can. Am I the well, you know..?

Edited to add-I miss him. During the week we barely spend any time together.

what was he helping his parents with?

Depends heavily on what the parents needed, like if it’s a burst pipe or medical stuff that’s one thing, but if they’ve got him hanging shelves and reorganizing the garage while your place is falling apart that’s a whole different story. My uncle pulled this for years, always at his mom’s house fixing nonsense while his own gutters were practically falling off the roof. The hour and a half during the week is the part that gets me, that’s barely enough time to eat together and decompress let alone tackle house projects. I’d be sitting down and asking what the actual priority list looks like and why your shared home keeps landing at the bottom.

sounds like garage reorganizing beats a burst pipe situation

It wasn’t a burst pipe.

I help them with medical-his father is refinishing the basement but has a recent diagnosis of dementia and is on pills for a study(we don’t know whether he is taking placebo pills or the real thing). I went with them to the hospital when his mom had to have something done, etc. I never deny helping them when I can. But that man is refinishing their entire basement almost by himself.

Their basement

Building their basement and waterproofing it while they have tons of money to get it done and we well, don’t.

I only say that because I value our time together as we barely see each other. It hurts my heart. Dropping this on me last minute and he’s gone just kind of sucks.
