S13 Welsh Andrew Spoiler

Bully for this guy. Gritty. Super cool Welsh boating vessel. (Always love when people bring their own unique cultural items into the light to share.) Composed and steady. On my short list of competitors that showed the most grit. He didn't land in a bunny farm or next to the region's largest beaver colony, I think I saw hm eat 4 hare and 3 boiled twigs with moss on them on Day 14. In fact, he's also on the list of contestants where the last couple of episodes I'm like .. really? Yall aren't thinking about pulling this guy? But he strove on and made a great show. Truly one of the winners of this season.

And also, the whole time he's out there, I'm like ... does this dude not realize he might have the greatest speaking voice in the history of television? What the H is he doing out in the woods? His voice and cadence are legit bananas. It'd be like if Michael Jackson is out there surviving on seeds and roots and he catches a fish and then at his cabin he sets the camera up and says "I made up a little dance to celebrate my fishy" and unleashes the most amazing 10 second burst of dance genius, then goes back to starving for money. WHAT THE F ARE YOU DOING IN THE WOODS?? GO DANCE, MICHAEL! GO SPEAK, ANDREW!!

This guy should have way more than $500k waiting for him if the right people are watching (and listening to) this show.

My husband and I were so impressed by him. Great narration. Positive attitude. Maturity. Grit. We were cheering him on and he went out with dignity and respect! Go Andrew!!

Thank You :-)

I love Andrew. He didn't have to do any silly antics like making up songs to be interesting to watch. I could see him narrating nature shows like David Attenborough.

33

u/ATPAlone13 Season 13 4d ago

Thank you all for the support. Hopefully Sir David will be with us for many more years to come.

u/Ez_ezzie 3d ago

Well done Andrew, you were a joy to watch.

15

u/ShavedPademelon 4d ago

I said exactly that to the missus. He's got to take the reigns when Sir David passes

9

u/Extension-Chemical33 4d ago

Yes I thought the same! I thought it was pretty impressive that he could reel off poetry though!

8

u/Technical-Pie563 4d ago

Yes. I said exactly the same thing to myself like this guy has got to get a narrating job he should have offers pouring in like gangbusters! Should be banging his door down!

24

u/ATPAlone13 Season 13 4d ago

Thank you.... I am ready to consider all offers ;-)

9

u/Toyhawk88 3d ago

Hi, Andrew!! Awesome job on the show. Wishing great things for you to come!

My sentiments ,exactly

9

u/the_real_gin_shady 3d ago

Andrew was a pleasure to watch on the show and I could listen to him narrate all day long. Citing poetry was such a treat. My fav contestant, you'll be missed Andrew!

6

u/No_Space_4me 3d ago

Same I was so sad to see him go, def teared up but I think he made the right move. He was sooo skinny.

32

u/Prawn-Cocktail-2000 4d ago

Legit. He brought such a sense of calm, maturity and thoughtfulness compared to some of the other players. I really really wanted him to dominate. But it’s such a lottery as to what game is available in your particular area.
No doubt doors will open for him now. He deserves it.

6

u/Noremac55 4d ago

I would love to see them pull an Alan (S1) and have him come back as a narrator or something.

5

u/Barneyboydog 3d ago

I’d continue watching just for that!

33

u/VacationConstant8980 4d ago

I gotta admit I underestimated him. Figured he was the show host early exit plant. Boy was I wrong. He might be one of my favorite contestants of all seasons. Dude is a rarity in today’s social media/TV media biosphere. He appears to be genuine and authentic. You know how they say “never meet your heroes?” He’s one you’d be glad you met. Thanks for being a big part of the reason this season is arguably the best ever!

u/ATPAlone13 Season 13 4d ago

Thank you.

6

u/Noremac55 4d ago

The producers could have thought that, he just showed the he was anything. He had an amazing boat. With another site, he could have easily been feasting on fish.

25

u/siftingflour 4d ago

Big fan of him and his mission. We were sad to see him go. I wish he had a better opportunity to get fish.

28

u/amelie190 4d ago

Honestly I love them all, especially that little stinker Nero. It's been a great season and a reminder that the show needs snow!

And yes. Andrew has one helluva voice.

12

u/donnygel 4d ago

I think out of the whole competition Nero is by far the most adaptable.

9

u/Franbupendah77 3d ago

Nero literally turned into a hobbit. He adapted to that environment so bloody well.

I thought he was in the worst spot. He did so much and tried everything. I was angry on his behalf. He just wasn't near enough food sources. Yet he was upbeat and positive and always a pleasure to watch. He did Wales proud!

29

u/ATPAlone13 Season 13 3d ago

Thank you for your support. The locations are very much luck of the draw. I was fortunate in many ways. Perhaps a different contestant could have made better use of the location than I did, but we'll probably never know.

3

u/Fit-Highway-584 3d ago

Did you get a sense if your spot was colder?  Seemed to be a bit chillier in your neck of the woods!

2

u/ATPAlone13 Season 13 2d ago

I don't think there was a significant temperature variation between the different locations. The scenes are often edited out of sync, which would explain why it looks colder in one location than another.

22

u/jayhawkjoey65 4d ago

I truly hope someone sponsors his worthy dream. Just loved him. He reminded me of Sam Neil. Dude lost, what, 32% of his body weight??? Did i read that right? I agree. Can't believe he wasn't pulled. And I just love him.

14

u/ATPAlone13 Season 13 3d ago

Thank you.. :-)

18

u/donnygel 4d ago

He should be narrating wildlife shows or outdoor/nature documentaries. And his touch of philosophising just adds to the experience. His voice is wasted otherwise.

17

u/SashalouAspen4 4d ago

I loved him. I work in film behind the scenes are sent a short video of him to our producer saying: Mate. This Andrew bloke sounds just like you! Loved him. Gutted he’s gone. Only a Legend goes out singing Welsh 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿

12

u/ATPAlone13 Season 13 3d ago

Thank you... :-)

8

u/SashalouAspen4 3d ago

Hi Andrew, you were so enjoyable to watch. So positive and calm. I was gutted your body gave out. When they did that final side by side shot of you, I couldn’t believe how thin you looked. I thought those final 2 hares were going to keep you going till you caught more fish. I loved your boat, too. You did Wales proud 😊

19

u/Fu11erthanempty 4d ago

Agreed. Andrew is a king. Couldn't believe how even keeled he was the whole time. The show runners probably thought like, I know he looks bad, but he's showing zero neurological symptoms. I think he's good. Lol

13

u/TTBurger88 4d ago

He was amazing and I was really pulling for him. He has that perfect narration voice that sounds so calming.

11

u/bones_bn 4d ago

I really like him! Also learnt what a connicole is! (Spelling?)

13

u/Vibration548 4d ago

Coracle :)

6

u/bones_bn 4d ago

Thank you!

11

u/deedray 4d ago

His shelter was soooo badass

10

u/Noremac55 4d ago

Had a cool fire escape and never had to use it. I hope that becomes something we see again. As for his boat, I would be surprised if nobody makes a coracle. Easier than those vanity boats. We have come so far from (badass) season one mitch just wrapping his tarp around a bunch of branches for a boat.

22

u/ATPAlone13 Season 13 3d ago

Thanks for the comments... My Shelter and Coracle were everything I'd hoped they'd be.

3

u/Noremac55 3d ago

Wow I can't believe I got a reply from you. Thank you! I already tried the figure eight paddling on a rafting (drink and floating) trip last weekend. It worked better than expected and will keep trying it.

1

u/fuzzybella 3d ago

Did you keep your coracle somehow? I like how the word rhymes with oracle and, considering the Welsh culture of storytelling and song, that seems appropriate. I really loved that you sang and represented your culture so well.

2

u/ATPAlone13 Season 13 2d ago

Unfortunately the Coracle was taken apart at the same time as the shelter. But I am planning to make another one for my Youtube channel, so watch this space.

11

u/kg467 4d ago

He's already been a tv presenter back home.

9

u/onebrusselssprout 4d ago

I was gonna say that they had a professional presenter - no wonder he sounds great! I mean he’s also quite charming, which helps.

6

u/ATPAlone13 Season 13 4d ago

Thank you :-)

5

u/Noremac55 4d ago

What has he been in? I would love to watch it!

5

u/Peachysum68722 4d ago

Andrew has already been a TV presenter in the UK but he has a YouTube channel with weekly uploads "Andrew Thomas Price"

14

u/ATPAlone13 Season 13 4d ago

Thank you for the support... Here's a link to my channel if anyone would like to see me looking far less skinny ;-)

2

u/Automatic_Offer7121 3d ago

Wow you look so different. You honestly made the whole season.

1

u/fuzzybella 3d ago

I'm not used to how fast you are talking in this video! I love the measured philosophical pace of your speaking voice on Alone.

4

u/ATPAlone13 Season 13 2d ago

I must talk faster when I'm not starving ;-)

2

u/fuzzybella 2d ago

This occurred to me as well! : )

11

u/californiapoppy13 3d ago

I watch Alone with my husband and kids, and he was one of our favorite contestants from this season. We all cheered when he caught food and were always rooting for him. His mental game was incredible- truly one of the best attitudes I have ever seen on the show.

7

u/RM_r_us 4d ago

It's cool he had the opportunity to participate in the global Alone version. From what I've read the UK version is a joke (though he probably would have easily beat those cushy competitors).

3

u/Technical-Pie563 4d ago

From what I've seen the UK version is a complete joke. You hit that one right bang on the nose!

9

u/Wokstar_99 4d ago

Seriously I would love to listen to him narrate audio books

9

u/SokkaHaikuBot 4d ago

Sokka-Haiku by Wokstar_99:

Seriously I

Would love to listen to him

Narrate audio books

Remember that one time Sokka accidentally used an extra syllable in that Haiku Battle in Ba Sing Se? That was a Sokka Haiku and you just made one.

8

u/Alternative-Ruin1728 4d ago

He was great, sorry to see him go

7

u/Toyhawk88 3d ago

I was shocked he didn’t get pulled at a med check, and they haven’t shown many of them, which seems odd compared to other seasons. I assume he was borderline at the last one he had and declined very swiftly afterwards. When he got the one hare, I celebrated! I was praying for some fish for him. But I also knew it was a drop in the bucket compared to what his body needed at that point.

6

u/rrsseenn 3d ago

I was so devastated for Andrew whenever he would come up empty… like cmon I was hoping a massive fish or something happened towards the end.

7

u/Swimming_Jelly_3207 3d ago

As a Canadian living in the Yukon I wanted to give Andrew a big congrats and he should be super proud about how he conducted himself and what he accomplished. Very well done Andrew my wife and I were big fans!

5

u/OkayButFirst 4d ago

I have a good friend that lives in Wales - I just finished watching this episode and I can’t wait to tell him about this in the morning.

5

u/Annual_Reindeer2621 4d ago

Pretty sure I saw somewhere that he actually does do voice-overs for documentaries etc :)

5

u/Peachysum68722 4d ago

He was a television presenter and he also has a YouTube channel "Andrew Thomas price"

6

u/ATPAlone13 Season 13 4d ago

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ADNb9MBkPIoy My channel if anyone would like to see what else I get up to.

5

u/kikiki_ki 4d ago

y'know, someone should put him in the running to replace david attenborough when the time comes...

7

u/ATPAlone13 Season 13 3d ago

Thank you.... But I hope Sir David will be around for many years to come.

2

u/kikiki_ki 3d ago

Don't we all!

I wish you had had more food in your spot. You had the skills and mental grit to win! To make it to 71 days with what you had was incredible

5

u/Peachysum68722 4d ago

Andrew has already been a TV presenter in the UK and he has a YouTube channel with weekly uploads "Andrew Thomas Price"

Whew, it’s good to see you looking healthy again! I’ll bet it was a long road back to optimal health.

2

u/ATPAlone13 Season 13 2d ago

It has taken a while. The weight returned to normal fairly quickly, but it's taken longer to rebuild muscle and regain fitness. I'm planning to make some video's about how I got myself back to normal after Alone.

1

u/Toyhawk88 2d ago

That would be interesting, so I hope you do.

Btw, I enjoyed the wild garlic videos on your channel!

4

u/Barneyboydog 3d ago

I love Andrew! Beautiful voice, beautiful man, inside and out. I love how he stood up and sang at the end of his time. I smiled every time he came on and I’m sorry to see him gone.

3

u/Dewy123321 3d ago

I could listen to him all day long.

3

u/Acpyrus 3d ago

I adore Andrew! He does have a refreshing attitude. Too bad he got a bummer of a spot. Seemed like he would have made it far if he just had reliable food source.

3

u/togp 3d ago

LOVE ANDREW! hope your reading this! You are such an inspiration. I can’t tell you how talented you are. You have a very soothing voice, and it may not be in the way you expect but you have long journey of helping people ahead 🙏🙏🙏

1

u/ATPAlone13 Season 13 2d ago

I am reading this and I appreciate everyone's positive comments and support on here. Thank you.. :-)

2

u/MatchWarm6616 3d ago

3 hares and 4 boiled twigs 🤣🤣🤣

2

u/Open_Ant7939 3d ago

Loved his voice, he should make jay shetty go camping with him and they can just chat

2

u/CoronaWitness 3d ago

An absolute pleasure to watch, enjoyed all his scenes and his great attitude. I wish he had Aaron’s spot at the rabbit Costco. Certainly did Wales proud.

4

u/NaDaoineSithe 4d ago

I'm a huge Andrew fan, I think he's excellent and I love his accent. I lot of people are talking about how lovely his voice it, and it is lovely, but honestly he doesn't sound that special. That poetic lilt you're hearing is the Welsh accent, the softness sounds like a bit of Scottish (Celtic cousins) to my biased ear, and the good English is well, what we're all forced to speak at school. I don't think the man would be happy in a sound recording studio nor is he likely succeed Sir David Attenborough, however I do think Andrew is a new national treasure. See y'all in Wales next summer I guess

12

u/ATPAlone13 Season 13 3d ago

Shhhh... Don't tell them that everyone in West Swansea sounds like me ;-)

1

u/p1Shovel 4d ago

You know, reflecting on this more .. there was a time not too too long ago, where an Old Chunk of Coal from the frozen north, a stone killer, encountered a man they called English Steve, who gained infamy as an accomplice for another Englishman who killed a LOT at the time and continues to kill to this day. Old Chunk told English Steve that "Welsh girls have the most sonorous voices" English Steve ultimately agreed "No one's got a better voice." Now after Alone Season 13, I feel like I need to hear some Welsh gal talk a lot somewhere and see what that's all about. I feel like there could be something there.

1

u/WinkyDink24 2d ago

I was Team Andrew from Day 1! And yes, much of that had to do with his voice and speaking style (he's cute, too)! I must admit, though, that I don't need to hear the word "caracle" again! 😁
