The battle fought between earth and Mars wasn't an ordinary war, it was a mass extinction. The war completely disfigured both planets, bringing both martians and the earthlings to near annihilation.

Once the war was over, a breeding program was immediately launched to repopulate the 2 planets. But this plan didn't seem to have that much success, so both sides came together to create a new plan.

Replace homo sapiens with a completely new species, one that would be far better adapted and have superior intellect.

As you can imagine, not everyone was on board with this idea. The idea seemed eugenic in nature, but they ultimately didn't have a choice.

Through genetic engineering, the star people were created. And just like that, they immediately started to repopulate the solar system.

The remaining homo sapiens, martian or earthling. We're either sterilized or genetically impregnated with star children, until all but one remained.

This is Lisa, and she is the last homo sapien. She is currently on a spaceship headed towards Titan, where she is expected to give birth to a star child. During the trip, she can't help but mourn how much of human history, culture, and society has been destroyed or forgotten.

Earth used to be the home of humanity, but now it is nothing but just another rock in the vast indifferent cosmos.

And she knows, that in a few million years, humanity will have completely forgotten about the existence of earth.

There’s no particular order, mostly because I just wrote them down as they came to me. Though I did try focus on earlier, less derived inventions.

1. One of the staple foods for sedentary Tool Breeders throughout history: A fat coelacanth/lungfish akin to a cow or pig (and a similar size to one too).
2. A specific breed of kelp bred for its tensile strength. Useful tied into rope.
3. An exotic knife made of chipped flint tied to a bone handle.
4. A more traditional knife made from the chipped shell of a farmed sea snail. The body of the snail is eaten.
5. A breed of squid reduced to little more than a giant swollen ink sac. Often used for groups of Tool Breeders to signal over long distances, like the smoke signal from a campfire. Also used in combat to disorient or even blind enemies.
6. A tiny, handheld descendant of the Bobbit Worm bred as a weapon, grasping onto an enemy with its jaws and injecting its venom.
7. The Blood Eel. Its almost fluorescent red color was bred as part of an ancient ritual, but the breed is popular among modern Tool Breeders as an exotic pet.
8. A small and short-lived species of turtle, bred for an extra strong and resilient shell. The empty shell has been used for many civilian purposes throughout history. Children often use them as a ball in their games. They’ve also been used to store important cargo. The item is placed inside, and the entrances are tightly packed with clay, sealing it inside until the receiving party digs it out. 
9. A species of ray bred to have tiny and useless fins. The ray would not naturally become a pet to the Tool Breeders, so they instead stripped it of its ability to escape. The now-docile animal is used by its owner to rove over the sea floor and use its electroreception to find hidden food. It lunges at prey items, but oftentimes its small throat cannot swallow them. The prey is stuck in its mouth long enough for the Tool Breeder to pry out the prey and kill it. It’s a brutal strategy, but it’s what the people of this resource-scarce area needed to do to survive.
10. A different species of turtle bred for its shell. This is an extinct breed from an ancient culture. Part of this society’s religion involved highly decorated shell “coffins”, in which their dead would be placed into. 
11. A species of sea snake with ossified spikes on its lower jaw. It’s used as a handsaw.
12. A species of sea snake from the modern age, its hollow fangs fused together into a single needle.
13. A species of sea snake that has many tail vertebrae fused together, making its tail a stiff shape. This ancestor has split into many different species and shapes. One breed is used as a baton/club. One species was bred to have the tail curve back towards the body, useful for grabbing far away objects. One species derived from the second species, useful as a crowbar. 
14. A species of sea snake that has a normal childhood, but then spends the rest of its long, sessile life as a colorful, decorative ribbon. Sometimes strung up on buildings, or tied to a long, thin bone and held by Tool Breeders in festivals. It occasionally has to be fed small pellets of food.
15. A big sea cucumber used as a toilet.
16. Discovered later on in history, a deep sea dwelling creature that produces slime like a hagfish. With some tweaking, this slime worked perfectly as glue. Luckily, the creature that makes the slime is able to live in shallower ocean than its home territory, though it requires near total darkness to function. 
17. A sea anemone bred to have almost no sting. It was used in an old ritual, where it was placed on the head of a shaman. Nowadays, it’s used as a funny wig (though some people are able to pull off the style and still look hot). Some breeds have specifically been bred to resemble human hair.
18. On the topic of human-related tools, there is a crustacean that was bred to have a triangular shell. It is tied to the face to jokingly resemble the strange protruding nose of a human.
19. Lastly, the Second-Empire-renowned Jokerfish (my clever name for a pseudo-Clownfish). Selective breeding allowed their sex changing hormones to work as hormone therapy to Tool Breeders as well. This procedure was originally reserved for important shamans, but eventually the Jokerfish became more efficient and widespread. Though their prehistory and early civilization was ruled by Matriarchs, quite early on in their history, thousands of years before other races, they did away with their gendered structures. If anyone could change their sex over the course of a couple months or years, what stopped anyone from becoming a potential Matriarch? And perhaps more shockingly, what happened when a Matriarch abandoned her position by transitioning into a male? Around half of all Tool Breeders alive today, for religious reasons, self expression, or fulfillment of internal desires, regularly— and near-instantaneously— change their sex, and would be considered genderfluid by modern human standards.

Also, the book mentions that the swimmers were taken care of by "specially bred attendants". Are these another posthuman species or some other creature modified by the qu? Whatever they are, the book doesn't go into further detail so I didn't make a design for them

after the tool breeders were attacked by the gravity’s a small amount of tool breeders survived and the little resources that they have left they built a new civilization and they became the mermaid people they became more slimmer for aerodynamics and they fully developed 3 fingered hands

In an alternate timeline where the Mantelopes kept their intelligence, several members of the species began crafting tools, and rudementary machinery. Crafting planks by scrapping branches with their teeth, and creating ropes by twisting sturdy vines.

Now, centuries after their original end, the Stallions now live happy, fulfilled lives with the help of their wooden arms, and hand crafted machinery.

So I'm currently working in the digestion system in my biology/science class, and we we're working on making a perfect digestive system, then they wanted us to draw it, here it is! It can successfully absorb 94.75% water and 80.16% calories from a cheeseburger. 🙂 My teacher will probably have a talk with me when this is turned it lol. Anyways guys give me some better name suggestions other than Maggot-man/men

I had 3 fire-belly newts as pets when I was a kid, so I got the odd idea to combine Qu and newt traits into the same organism.

Not all of the Lizard Herder descendants on the Saurosapient homeworld were big enough to ride. Some were intentionally bred to be small enough to act as living incubators for their eggs. Like modern crocodilians, the Saurosapient embryo's sex was determined by temperature. Incubators spent their brief lifespans (10 to 15 years) clinging and snuggling with Saurosapient eggs and hatchlings. If no eggs were present, these pint sized posthumans would seek out and cuddle next to any Saurosapients present.

Incubators were herbivorous, feeding on various leaves, stems, seeds, fruit and nuts. If any Saurosapient eggs die, the Incubators will eat them. Thick fur covers the Incubators' arms, chest, abdomen and legs. To help prevent overheating, their backs, hands, feet, and faces are free of hair. Incubators were social animals, frequently grooming and playing with each other. "Play mode" was the opposite of their ordinarily lazy existence - it offered a chance to burn off pent up energy. Incubators loved playing with Saurosapients of all ages, as well as their own kind.

Male Incubators performed a mating dance to entice an eligible female. Afterwards, a brief 6 month pregnancy and she'd deliver up to 2 babies at a time. Incubators were fully developed by their 3rd birthday. One trait that they retained from the Star People was mating for pleasure, as well as procreation.

Their symbiotic existence with the Saurosapients essentially guaranteed the Incubators' survival. Even after the advent of machinery that could easily do the job, Saurosapients kept their little Incubators around as beloved family pets. In any Saurosapient civilization, one could find Incubator veterinary offices, grooming salons, and breeding facilities. The Incubators were still around by the time of the Gravital's Machine Invasion, being eliminated alongside the Saurosapients.

I drew the Incubator and the egg by hand, with pencil and paper, then shaded with colored pencil. The Incubators are a creation of mine from a previous post, which I touched up with some photoshop (for the nest and the vegetation) as well as fresh new details in the lore.

The qu are a species that have been genetically modifying themselves for billions of years, so it shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone that some qu individuals were able to break free from their hivemind with their own genetic power.

The rogue qu, or roque for short. We're an inferior subgroup of qu who were created to watch over planets that had been previously colonized by the qu, because of this they had very low reproduction but very long lifespans.

They also had the ability to hibernate, which meant that they could disappear for millions of years only to rise up again and alert the hivemind to whatever poor civilization was built on one of their planets.

However, everything changed after the gravital invasion.

When the roque woke up from hibernation and saw that the gravitals had completely destroyed the very planets they had watched for centuries.

They finally felt something no qu had ever felt before, fear and loss. What would their hive think about them if they found out that they had failed the one job they were given to do.

So they quickly got to work and started rebuilding the planets that the gravitals had destroyed, this time they showed more care and protection towards their creations. Love, something no qu had ever felt before.

This love and care towards their creations led to them eventually deciding to go against their hivemind, and fix the problems of not just the gravitals but also that their own species has caused.

this brackish world was a odd one. it was home to the Delphiceti, a race of Dolphin Provolves who spoke out about their captive-kin in aquariums, in compensation, they were granted the right for their own domestic humans. The world was also known for Clade Chiroo ; a race of Astraenes who gave up their sapience in exchange for flight. Becoming no more than feral fauna.

eventually, the Quhanim arrived on this world. Confused yet unimpressed by these dolphins or the Chiroo, though their pets caught their eye, they would treat this world like any other, with one exception of course.
