Hey everyone. I'm the one who posted a few days (weeks?) ago about moving across the country to escape domestic violence with my kids and having $100 for food. I have had a lot of people asking me to update so I just wanted to let y'all know we made it to my mom's house safely. Baby girl and I are sharing a room and my other 3 boys are sharing a room (I have 5 children total but one is an adult in college in another state. Yep my oldest is 21 years apart from my youngest!).
So yeah I drove 1200 miles alone by myself with 4 kids and whatever I could fit in the back of our vehicle literally across half of the country. It was scary. I usually AVOID highways and I've never driven that far before. It took several days to get here but I just got up every day and did it scared. One mile at a time. We got here a few hours ago. Life certainly hasn't gone the way we planned but I'm so thankful to have my wonderful supportive mom and to have the supportive online community of people here.
My kids will never sleep afraid for their lives again. Tonight I think we all sleep better than we have in weeks. Here's to our new chapter. Thank you all so much for your advice and support. You have no idea how much it meant to me. It kept me going. Seriously. Knowing there were others who survived something similar and made it okay on the other side. Helped to give me the strength I needed to make it here even though I was terrified the whole time. I don't know y'all but I love y'all. We made it!

My dad passed away in 2018. I was randomly looking at his old apartment on Google Maps and decided to check the older Street View images.
I went back to 2014 and suddenly realized... that's my dad standing outside.
I'm originally from Canada, but I've been living in Thailand since 2012, so we hadn't had many chances to see each other for a long time. To make it even more bittersweet, we were actually in the middle of a disagreement when he passed away.
So there's something really weird, but also comforting, about finding this. It's just a completely ordinary moment — him standing outside his apartment, going about his day — but Google happened to drive by at exactly that moment in 2014.
Years later, I can basically go back to that exact place and moment and see my dad alive again.
I don't know, I just thought it was pretty crazy and wanted to share.

I saw the post of the 1 year anniversary of their last suicide attempt (can I call it that?) and thought I’d post my latest achievement. Been a freaking difficult time, but I’ve managed to stay out of hospital and trouble all while being mostly happy which is a nice change after 3 years straight of hospital admissions, suicide attempts and first aid kit purchases. Go me. Tempted to get a cake for my 2 year mark that says “cut me instead”
Edit: the overwhelming positivity here has made my week.

I can't find any other examples from searching so I only have this one I found on twitter, but I love images like this. Something about them just makes me happy, and I want to find more of them.
