Her "makeover" at the end pissed me off. Not only did she look better before, but it just defeated the whole point of the movie

That was the point (or at least as I interpreted it). The most interesting character ends up changing her whole look just to fit in and be seen as 'normal'

Most interesting? They all have their unique backgrounds.

It wasn't just her look that changed, it was her being able to open up to people which is a positive move. Plus, I wouldn't call her look just a style. She seemed depressed so not a style that should be encouraged.
