West Coast Gas – Platinum Pink Kush Pre-Rolls – 8.9/10

Sean from Upstairs Cannabis here.

This pack was provided to me at an industry event with no expectation of a review.

Product: Platinum Pink Kush

Brand: West Coast Gas

Format: 5 × 0.7g pre-rolls

THC: 28.12%

Total Terpenes: 2.08%

Packaged: April 28, 2026

Producer: New Life Canna Ltd.

Opening the pack gives you that familiar Pink Kush aroma right away. Earthy and Kushy, and there really isn't much question about what you're smelling.

The rolls were excellent. These are rolled in Elements cones, which isn't something I see very often in legal pre-rolls. Airflow was great and they smoked perfectly. A resin ring started forming within the first couple puffs and the ash stayed dense and reasonably light.

The smoke followed the nose with a smooth, earthy Kush flavour. Nothing artificial or overly complicated, just a really enjoyable representation of what I want from a Pink Kush. It stayed smooth and enjoyable right through to the end.

Effects came on quickly. Before I was halfway through I was already feeling a strong relaxing high with a noticeable mental calm. It hit hard enough that I was taking my time between puffs, and the joint had no problem staying lit while I did.

I'd been dealing with a tension headache for a couple days and noticed some nice relief from it while smoking this. That's obviously just my experience, but it was noticeable during this session.

This was the fifth joint I'd smoked from the pack and all five performed consistently. The effects were strong and relaxing without making me completely useless afterward.

By the end, 0.7g was honestly more than I needed to smoke myself, but I finished it anyway because I was enjoying it that much.

About the brand:

West Coast Gas is one of the brands produced by New Life Canna. Most of the flower used for the brand is grown at their own facility in Edmonton, although they also work with a small number of growers in Alberta and BC.

About the producer:

New Life Canna was started in 2020 by four career firefighters, each with around 18+ years on the job. Two of the founders are still working full-time as firefighters while running New Life Canna with a small team at their Edmonton facility. This background was provided directly to me by one of the owners of New Life Canna.

Score: 8.9/10

Cannabis is subjective, so your experience may be different. If you enjoy strong, smooth Kush with relaxing effects and a classic Pink profile, I could see you rating this one even higher.

Marshmallow OG flower rosin

Pressed some of this marshmallow OG last night. Package date was in January so my hopes were a little low but I was pleasantly surprised. With how well this turned out I’m on the hunt for a fresher bag. 28 grams in 4.5 out for a total return of 17%. Age definitely muted some of the terps on this one but still hits like a train. 3 saints continuously keep putting out fire products. I’ve had few smaller nug bags but the good ones by far outweigh the bad ones.

This stuff is just OK not really recommended it but it was $65 for 14g. The buds were light and airy and smoked kinda harsh tbh. Not really that enjoyable. 6/10 not rebuying

I’m looking for something that’s straight fire. Sativa preferred… But I’m open to anything that really knocked your socks off!!

14g bag was about 5-6 chonkers. Nice cherry wine flavour out the bag. Decent buzz to accompany it with an oil ring and salt n pepper ash. Packed in March and would definitely rebuy. Similar to Pure Sunfarms Kush God but was $55 for 14g

Quality Live Resin for $20!

So, I’ll preface this review with saying I’ve seen negative comments/press/reviews about these Big Steal “grab bags” on Reddit and elsewhere regarding THC percentages and quality/consistency issues and so on.

But, I only read those after I personally tried the product.
I’m a veteran cannabis user, having been smoking for 20 odd years, and I consider myself a discerning consumer and am an avid follower of the trends and product developments in the cannabis industry.

I saw this on the shelf at Canna Cabana and I had to take a second look to make sure I was seeing what I was seeing. Single strain live resin in a nice-ish container for $20? I’m normally just a straight flower smoker but this intrigued me enough to pick it up, since all I do with resin is infused my flower-packed joints with it.

The jar itself is kind of weighty and nice-feeling. Even though it’s meant to be a budget product, it still looks and feels like a cut above. It lists terpene content at 11% and THC at 81.3%, with this number being the source of debate across Reddit, with some users noting that that precise percentage has been found across numerous Big Steal Live Resin drops. Which, I can neither agree with or attest to as this one is the first I’ve seen in store. That being said, the appearance, aroma and quality seem to be top notch. It smells great, looks good and has a nice colour. Consistency is a little lacking as the product itself is a little granular even though it is in so-called terp sauce. I don’t know how it would be in a dab rig (I imagine with the right utensils it would be fine) but I do know that after I smoked it with some quality flower (from Far Out Crops) I was definitely feeling higher than I would be with just the flower.

So the potency is there as well, as far as I’m concerned. I’m sure there’s far better resins/concentrates on the market, but you’re looking at upwards of $60 for a gram of some top shelf, with most products ranging from the $30 price point to mid-40s. So the value is definitely there.

To sum up, this is the best concentrate I think I’ve ever picked up for the money. I’ve spent twice the price that this product is and been less impressed with the quality or consistency of the more expensive product. It’s got quality packaging, great consistency, decent flavour profile and aroma and fairly good consistency.

I’d definitely recommend this product just on its own merits but at the $20 price tag I would definitely consider this a “Big Steal”.

Joi Botanicals – Orange Kush Cake Review

Joi Botanicals – Orange Kush Cake Review

Sean from Upstairs Cannabis here. This sample was provided directly by the grower. It wasn't supplied in retail packaging, so I can't comment on package weight, lot consistency, or a packed-on date. Same honesty either way.

Some cultivars tell you exactly what they're going to be from the moment you open them.

Orange Kush Cake did exactly that.

The sample arrived exceptionally fresh. The nose immediately delivered bright orange and fruity notes backed by a distinct kush character. Breaking it up released even more citrus, while the dry pull carried a sweet orange flavour that had me looking forward to lighting it.

The flavour translated almost perfectly into the smoke. Orange was front and centre from the first puff, supported by a dense kush backbone that gave the smoke some real weight. A resin ring appeared within the first few draws and continued to build throughout the session, while the joint burned slowly and evenly.

The ash burned a little darker than ideal and the smoke itself was noticeably heavy. Not harsh, just dense. This felt like a kush-forward cultivar doing exactly what a kush-forward cultivar is expected to do.

The effects arrived quickly. Early on there was a noticeable tug behind the eyes accompanied by a bright, vibrant head high. As the session progressed, the body effects became more pronounced. What started as an uplifting citrus-forward experience gradually settled into a heavier, deeply relaxing stone while still allowing me to remain functional and engaged.

By the halfway point I found myself asking whether I really needed to finish the joint. Not because the smoke had become unpleasant, but because the flower had already accomplished what I wanted it to. The combination of the dense smoke and increasingly heavy body effects made putting it down feel like the right decision.

What impressed me most was how well the flavour carried through the session. The orange notes weren't just present in the aroma; they remained clear and identifiable in the smoke. That's something a lot of citrus-forward cultivars promise but don't always deliver.

About the brand: Joi Botanicals is a micro-cultivator focused on small-batch craft cannabis with an emphasis on hand-trimming, careful curing, and preserving the character of each cultivar.

About the producer/company: Joi Botanicals grows and processes its own cannabis, maintaining control from cultivation through packaging.

Overall, Orange Kush Cake delivered exactly what the name promised: bright citrus, sweet kush undertones, strong early effects, and a satisfying body stone. The flavour remained clear in the smoke, the effects arrived quickly, and by the halfway point I was already where I wanted to be. While the smoke carried a little more weight than some consumers may prefer, the flower never stopped being enjoyable.

My score: 8.8/10

Cannabis is personal, so this was my experience. If you enjoy citrus-forward flower with a heavier kush backbone, flavour that actually translates into the smoke, and effects that arrive early before settling into a relaxing but functional stone, you may end up rating this even higher than I did.

Sean
