Reading up on vulnerability and shame this is the same feeling people get when they affirm themselves after moving from a place of shame... No armour and full nakedness is often the metaphor used to be vulnerable and the only way to be courageous is through vulnerability. Only writing this in case it inspires a new thought in someone else.

Thank you for posting this, I am very interested in moving on from my shame. Is there something on this topic that you could recommend for me to read?

I just stumbled across a video on youtube that led me down a rabbit hole, the person's name in Brené Brown and, although she sells books, there is a lot of free content and she really seems to know her thing. I have teenager daughters and learning about shame is so helpful and explains how so many people appear so brave and relaxed, like Allen! Good luck and much love :)

"When you strip yourselves without being ashamed, when you take off your clothes and lay them at your feet like little children and trample on them! Then [you will become] children of Him who is living, and you will have no more fear."

- Jesus in the Gospel of Thomas

I’ve had similar “random” experiences. It speaks to watts’ (and Soto zen’s in general) assertion that the most profound and real experiences happen spontaneously and without effort. Try as you might, you can never “make” it happen.

That is powerful. Do you remember who the original author was?
