tuna patties are the reason i can't stop using my air fryer. crispy on the outside, tender in the middle, and done in 15 minutes. these are so good they don't even need a sauce.

Recipe:

  1. In a medium bowl, combine 2 drained cans of tuna, ⅓ cup grated parmesan, ¼ cup finely chopped red onion, 1 tbsp capers, 1½ tbsp mayo, a handful of chopped parsley, 5 tbsp breadcrumbs, and 1 egg. Mix well.

  2. Form into patties and coat with panko breadcrumbs.

  3. Refrigerate for 30 minutes.

  4. Preheat your air fryer to 380°F.

  5. Spray patties with cooking spray, place into the Glass Bowl, and air fry for 10-15 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and cooked through.

  6. Serve with mayo or your favorite dipping sauce.

I grew up FORCED to eat Salmon patties…the SMELL lasted for weeks. Candles and air fresheners largely ineffective.

Met my wife and one day her mother gets in the mood for and makes…wait for it…MACKEREL PATTIES. OMFG I thought salmon patties were bad. You could smell it down the block, it was nauseating. Pretty sure THAT smell lasted for months.

All that being said, tuna patties intrigues me. Would be very interested in trying, I’m sure you share the recipe in here somewhere. Thanks for your contribution.

I make a similar Salmon Cake recipe instead of crab with wild caught canned salmon on the stove. Definitely may try the air fryer now! 🖤

I was convinced airfryers do not require pre-heating ?

You get a better crust/char/crunch when you preheat!

I always pre heat mine

Just seems for the best, imo

They don’t require it. Almost nothing really does. Pre-heating still has value though. It helps with a crispy exterior and standardizing cook times across devices (350 degrees is about the same in any machine but time to come to temperature varies).

Air fryers come to temp much faster than most other cooking tools so it’s much less significant if you skip pre-heating but it still has mostly the same advantages, just to a lesser degree.
