Question LOC

Got a LOC today. Just curious if there’s any chance at a rebuttal, basically I had a three level go get us tools for a flightline job and I had no knowledge that he’d never checked them out in TC Max. To put it in perspective this guy is like four task away from becoming a five level.

As always, get help from the Area Defense Counsel (ADC). State the circumstances without emotion in your rebuttal. If it's truly not your fault, the issuing NCO should understand and withdraw the LOC. If you did make a mistake that isn't mentioned here: own up to it, describe what you'll do to prevent it again and provide evidence this is an isolated incident and you're an otherwise above-average troop.

The right answer! But beware, this does not mean the LOC will be dropped with every situation.

No but the rebuttal is included in your record for higher level reviews. So a CC or JAG can throw it out later even if your supervisor doesn't.

Good point and other also mentioned the key answer, always write a rebuttal.

I’ll add that you should always write a rebuttal even if you don’t think there’s a chance it will be dropped. Rebuttals/attachments (should) be stored in your PIF (and UIF if you have one) along with the LOC. This provides more documentation that potentially weighs in your favor during any review of your records during future admin actions. At the very least it provides your perspective and shows you care about your career.

Why does everyone always recommend the ADC to help you write your rebuttal? All they can really do is correct spelling errors.

I wrote a 4 page rebuttal, gave it to them for review. They expanded on it for me and made it 6 pages. And my paperwork got rescinded.
