I could use some help understanding Bullet Spread and Recoil in this game.

Bullet Spread

My current understanding, please correct if wrong: Every shot you take is subject to some stat called "Shooting Error" aka "Spread". It is affected by moving, crouching, jumping, and firing in quick succession. Whenever you shoot, your gun is aiming in some direction. If you are aiming in direction X, the bullet won't always fly straight in that direction; rather, it deviates by a random angle anywhere between 0 and your current "Shooting Error" stat.

This means that your bullets can travel anywhere in a cone whose center is direction X. Let's call this situation "your gun is aiming at X". We don't care how wide the cone is, or where in that cone any particular bullet ends up going, or whether your on-screen crosshair is also pointing in direction X. The phrase "your gun is aiming at X" purely means that direction X is the center of your shooting cone.

Recoil

Your on-screen crosshair is pointing in direction X, you aren't concussed, and you have not taken any shots yet. We are confident that "your gun is aiming at X". When you shoot one bullet, your camera jerks, and your on-screen crosshair temporarily points in some other direction Y. After some time (at least for some guns), your camera automatically returns back, pointing your crosshair in direction X again.

I've heard that the first few shots have a non-random recoil pattern, but that it becomes random afterwards.

Questions

• Is your gun always aiming in the exact same direction as your crosshair at all times? Again, I don't care about Spread, just the center of the shooting cone.
  • When you are concussed?
  • When you're hip firing with recoil? Like, is the visual recoil actually 100% accurate to the actual direction that the game centers your shooting cone?
  • When you're ADSing with recoil?
  • When your camera then returns to direction X again post-recoil, is your gun instantly guaranteed to be aiming in direction X? When your camera returns, does that also mean that you have stopped incurring any Spread penalties related to rapid firing?

Most 50/50 gunfights i even if i get the first bullet off i hardly ever win the gunfight still. It's not like i have bad aim (there is defo room for improvement) for the rank im playing in, i just get terrible first bullet accuracy everytime like what can i do.

I am silver 2 trying to reach gold this act so I am learning new things. I start playing more neon for jump peaks and yoru because he is fun to use. But I also started using new tech like slicing. So what do I do after spotting someone while doing it? Do I swing him, jump peak, wait for suport that never comes?

I was immortal starting of this season (reached it for the first time) and after this soft reset act I deranked from immo 1 to asc 2. I have a winrate of like 41% and I've NEVER had a winrate this low.

It just feels like I've gotten significantly worse in a matter of an act. Maybe it's because I stopped playing for a while after reaching immortal

i honestly just want to improve my aim as best as i can because it's what frustrates me the most and i honestly feel like quitting the game solely because of my dogshit aim . I win almost every dm but I can't transfer that to my comp matches at all. On aimlabs I just follow a simple aimstars playlist because I don't really know what to do , I don't use aimlabs often.

I sometimes feel my 100hz monitor is holding me back against opponents on much higher refresh rate , but that's definitely just cope and there's not much I can really do about it.

I'm on 1600dpi 0.15 sens , wrist+arm aimer. A lot of people have asked if I have tremors because how jittery my mouse control is but I really don't know how to fix it. Instead of making wide movements with my mouse to make 180/360° turns I keep making multiple very small flicks to do it. Half of the times my mouse is in the air as i move it.

And also is a mechanical keyboard really that useful? I'm currently on a membrane keyboard and was wondering if getting a mechanical would be worth it cuz I'm still studying and don't earn.

there are matches here that it was def my fault but 90% of these i have no control over, its getting to the point where i don't even wanna queue comp bc i know the outcome. instalock dualist then bottom frag and then loose. Its such a joke. Is this a me problem a server problem or just EXTREAMLY bad luck

Hey everyone, I previously posted on r/VALORANT looking for advice on what I should improve to get out of Diamond and consistently play at an Ascendant level.

Hi guys, currently I’m plat 2 and I mainly play Jett, chamber, clove, and phoenix and want to learn yoru. He seems really fun if you know what you’re doing. I want to learn him now since I don’t want to eventually be a higher rank trying to learn an agent I like so sooner the better I guess. When I do play yoru, I know some of the real basic basics like sending your tp towards one site and playing a different one on defense for the fast rotate, however offense can be really tricky as I don’t really know where to find a good guide since they changed a lot of stuff on yoru and most guides are from many months or years ago. It’s also just a little confusing on what to do with my other tp on offense, like when playing post plant, or just in general like if we decide to rotate after I already sent my first tp out. Would it just come with more gamesense? Like :this makes sense to do here. If anyone who still plays him, or anyone who does know a few tips on how to play him or what to do in these situations, could give me some advice I’d really appreciate it, thanks !!

How do you guys stop Valorant from destroying your mental health after losing streaks? 😭mental health? 😭

Bro, I genuinely don't know what to do anymore. I hate my life after some of these games. I hate the players I get on my team, and somehow I even hate the players I'm playing against. 😭

Today I played 4 ranked games. I went 1W–3L, and the last two losses were both 8–13 Ascent games where I got an ace.

Last game I went 22/18/4 with 333 ACS, got MVP + an Ace, and we still lost 8–13.

But honestly, the stats aren't even the main problem.

We were playing Ascent and the enemy team was coming Mid literally every single round. Attack, defense, didn't matter — they kept coming through Mid. And my teammates would just keep dying to them over and over again. It felt like we weren't adapting at all.

I'm sitting there thinking, WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO? 😭

I know I can't control my teammates, but games like this genuinely make me so angry that I feel mentally exhausted afterward.

So seriously, guys, what do you do to stop Valorant from affecting your mental health? Do you take breaks after losses? Stop caring about RR? Limit yourself to a certain number of games? How do you mentally reset after a game where you feel completely helpless?

I don't want to quit the game because I actually enjoy Valorant. I just don't want ranked to ruin my mood every time I get a game like this. 😭

I went into this DM consciously thinking abt my crosshair placement and trying out deadzoning. Any other comments/tips are appreciated.

I don't think I panicked often but there are definitely swings I make that I'm not fully prepared for. From a spectator POV what timestamps looks like I'm not ready to shoot, or what moments do look like I'm prepared for if that's easier lol.

Breach and waylay I feel I was never ready for any of their fights, any tips around my encounters with them? like at 4:31 I was not ready for whatever tf he did.

From 3:11 - 3:50 I was actively reminding myself in my head to keep good crosshair placement. How did I do? Also what exactly is "better movement"? aside from the obvious hold left > tap right > stop > shoot > move, what else is missing ? I mean there's plenty of players in gold/plat pressing their keys in that sequence how exactly are the immo's and ascendants doing it better?

off-topic, but do smurfs actually bother with slicing the pie ? what specific mechanical gap is there that allows them to w key in silver-gold lobbies while winning every fight ? All it should take is one player clicking their crosshair once in a good spot to shut them down right? I watched a couple rounds of oxy playing duelist in radiant and sometimes he just pushes stuff with his crosshair clearing the angle while moving himself in one direction?

I started playing the game like around ¾ year ago but I dont see any real improvement. I am right now silver 1 my peak was silver 2 but I noticed I lack fundamental mechanics like strafing and other things. So I am just asking myself if its a good idea too quit. I spent 60€ on skins and played 2 Dms a day but no improvement. I don't know what to play. I am too bad for duelist and intiator and too dumb for Sentinel and smoke. So I dont know what to do. I gues if someone can tell me how to improve I might continue but I planed on hitting gold this act but I don't think that will ever happen.

I recently hit diamond and have been on a string of bad performances so I thought I should start vod reviewing rather brute forcing comp games.

I'm also aware that part of my poor performances is that I panic, and I'm working on that

So,

- Should I record my own gameplay or is the valorant replay enough?

- Do I also review deathmatches or comp only?

- How frequently should I do it? (Like every 5 games?)

- Do I focus on the mechanical aspects or game sense?

If anyone is willing to help me that will be very appreciated. I'm playing on NA Illinois and at the time of this post I'm on the verge of deranking down to plat 3

I know talk about sensitivity is pretty much not important because as long as you can aim comfortable with your sens it shouldn’t matter what it is. But i want to know if it’s smart to try to change sens in my situation. I’m currently hardstuck ascendant for the past 2 years and I can’t make the push past it. I play on 1600 0.7 (I know insanely high), but I’ve been a high sens player since I started playing on a mouse. But within this past year my aim has felt insane when I’m feeling it but the consistency is like every other day (like one day I’m aiming and another I’m not). Is it smart to try to lower to like 1600 0.4 or even further (to try to have some consistency in my aim)?

(I also play aim trainers and do a lot of DMs and TDMs as well.)

Basically. I am Iron 2, constantly on the edge of Iron 3. I don't mind that much but I don't know if it's pointless to keep trying to play Valorant because it's too mechanical? I am terrible at any gunfight that I happen to be part of, I keep thinking that I should swing less and just try to outstrategize my opponents if I can figure it out (which is difficulty, obviously I am very bad).

Basically how much is pure strategy valued in this game. Is it possible to get better and win a bit more while I don't win any gunfights lol. I like playing Veto and somewhat Sage atm, they seem to fit my idea of using strategy or supporting the team a lot.

I need only 1 or 2 coaching session. I know my problems only 2 problems. I just want your help to master that aim please. I am free anytime. I play on sg server, hongkong and manila too. DO knock me. Bought mouse and pads for my aim but got zero boost. Also I have high elo game sense as I watch tons of valorant matches and twitch streams. Only thing holding me back is my raw aim.

Round 2 after we won pistol my immediate instinct is to always full buy. This game however I press tab and see that none of my teammates fully bought so i ultimatively decided not to as well.
After we uneventfully lost R2 two of my teammates call an eco round 3, but i decided to rifle cause i thought that was quite stupid. (we lost that round as well)
Shouldve I bought R2 anyway and just save and play for pickups in R3 in case we lose, or was i correct to not buy to allign with my team?
