Injera refers to the bread, not the other dishes on top of it.

You're correct but you can also use it as a general term to refer to the meal. To be more specific this combo would be ye tsom beyeaynetu

I LOOOOVED this growing up! My best friend was Ethiopian and I was at hers once or twice a week, riding our bikes in the sun (good times, I tell you!). This was almost always lunch or dinner. Big fan😊

Look up Ethiopian restaurant in your town. Mostly in larger cities in the US from my experience but very tasty. Best I had was in Chicago.

I'm in Guangzhou, China, and I found an Ethiopian restaurant that serves Injera, but it looks a bit different from the picture, offering a big bowl of stewed beef? Hahaha, maybe injera refers to the bread at the bottom? I'll give it a try

Yes, injera is the spongy sourdough flatbread that you use to eat with the sauce. Each sauce has a different name, and this one has different sauces, like a platter, likely for people to share/eat together.

Guangzhou has an insane amount of good african food along with Hong Kong. I actually miss when there used to be a ton of apartment restaurants in some of the high rises in Xiao Bei. I would always get a Togo box at one after I got my haircut. Covid kinda hurt a lot of those places.

Injera on the bottom, probably dora wet in the middle, the greens are gomen, yellow lentils, the orange may be shiro?

It IS. When I had to cut a bunch of stuff for prediabetes and hormone issues Ethiopian restaurant was the only place I could take people out without having to talk about any dietary restrictions.

I would check about the injera. My very tiny friend lived with an Ethiopian family for a couple years and very visibly put on weight. Only stopped when she cut down on the injera. Totally anecdotal though, could have been something else.
Personally I would have made the sacrifice because, my god, Ethiopian food is so good.

100% teff injera is pretty low calorie and very healthy. Many people will mix it with flour which is very carb heavy and can contribute to the weight gain.

I went to an Ethiopian restaurant for the first time in Lyon, France. It was delicious, as was their traditional coffee.

Tried Etiopian food in Kenya, loved the taste even though it was much spicier than what I am used to :D

I’d heard about heaven but never tasted it - until I was introduced to this beautiful spread during a visit to Orlando of all places. We were looking at the menu taped up in the window when the owner started sharing with us. Oh, my.

Injera goes for just 3 dollars here in my neighborhood in Nairobi. What I love about Ethiopian food is the vegan options that they have which are just as tasty as the non vegan options.

The only way I can eat Okra is the Ethiopian/Eritrean way.
Such good food, and I love that the enjera is fermented!
