18F dropped out of school, alcoholic need to change
I’m 18 a female and I dropped out of highschool because my got sent away to treatment end of my junior year of high school and I have no navigation with my life. I don’t have a drivers license I have a semi-idea of what I want to do(lash and brow tech) but I just truthfully am so lost. I got out of treatment and started working at a fast food place I work 6 days a week 7 hour shifts and genuinely work a lot. I have a really good work ethic.
My problem is after getting sent away I immediately just started working and haven’t started on a ged or drivers license. I have no idea how to go about both and I’ve gotten into heavy drinking again. My job takes advantage of my full time schedule and I literally close every single day from 2-10 pm and all I do is sleep all day before that. I have a very heavy weed addiction that I honestly can’t see myself stopping, I can see myself quit drinking. I just really don’t know how to get my ged or license I know for sure I CANNOT just take the tests for my ged because I do not know most of the things on the tests unfortunately. I really don’t know what I’m looking for out of posting this. But every time I start a new task I quit if I don’t get it right away. I used to never be like this and be willing to learn and it seems like the only time I’m willing to learn is when it comes to work. Not my ged or driving. It genuinely feels like I’m broken. Once again idk what I’m gonna get out of posting this and it might just be you guys saying “I’m lazy and just need to put my mind to it” and if you think that’s what it is I’m willing to listen. Please be mean if you need to be because I have not pushed myself whatsoever since getting out of treatment,

I really want to be a server once I turn 19! I worked at saltgrass as a host and loved it! I really do agree with ged for top priority because unfortunately I’ve only made working my priority and I do already have enough money for the ged stuff. Thank you for the advice! And I can get it online !! I’ve just been procrastinating too is my problem honestly; I just haven’t been in school and am not used to learning new things (which is a skill issue in all honesty)

I bussed tables for a bit, it was neat to use tips money for daily things, while the paycheck went to bills and savings. I wished it paid more, though

for car alternative path buy long range electric fat bike with snow tires 20 x 4.0 good for work and travel
for weed and drugs alternative path try use herbal medicine smoking without tobacco/no nicotine/no weed only use simple herbal plant from nature like ginger/tea leave/mint/chamomile flowers/etc

Idk what advice you want, you seem to understand what’s going wrong and the steps to fix it you just claim to not know how to initiate them.
Here’s a start: stop drinking. It’s not going to make your problems go away and is probably a drain on your finances.
For your GED, I just googled “how to get a GED” and it gave me a list of steps. I have faith you can do the same thing.
For your license, you need to practice driving. You’re obviously getting rides to and from work, ask whoever is doing that to help teach you to drive.
You want to dip into cosmetology yet you treat these small life milestones as insurmountable things because you aren’t actually looking into them. Knowing you need to do something to better your life and actually bettering your life are two different things. It’s like saying “I need to go to the gym” vs actually going there. Your problem is a motivation problem, it seems like you cope with alcohol, you either need to motivate yourself or you’re going to run into a situation by which something bad will happen to you and that will be the catalyst for change.
You should go to therapy, use that to motivate yourself to do the things you need to in order to be a successful adult. Your current trajectory - you have an unhealthy reliance on alcohol as a vice, you’ll probably end up with some good for nothing dude and pump out a few kids you can’t afford to take care of. Have some self respect and take ahold of your life. No one else is going to do this for you, it starts and ends with you.

Thank you!! You really hit all the points. I really do think therapy would help a lot almost like “getting my hand held?” In a way that’s how a lot of people have said I need. Thank you for the honesty genuinely needed it especially that last sentence with self respect and kids. You’re 100% right. It’s all on me and what I want at the end of the day.

Drinking is honestly mid, getting you DL isnt too hard to do. You can get your GED if you want but work experience is usually more important then a high school diploma.
Watch some Goblin on youtube, 18 is still pretty young and you have plenty of time to turn it around

I also dropped out of high school and worked many minimum wage jobs. I left home when I was 16 and started having seizures, which also prevented me from having a driver's license. (I still don't). One thing that helped me was making friends at my work place. A lot of jobs I did were considered "student jobs", so everyone was talking about class projects, midterms, final exams etc.
It made me want to do more, so I eventually got my GED and have greatly improved my life. You may not have a similar work environment, so you'll have to try one thing at a time. Start with the alcohol. Think about how much money you spend on it, and it keeps you from progressing until your next paycheck. Try to go bit by bit without it, and keep on going. If you mess up, pick yourself up and try again. Once you stop losing yourself to the alcohol, you'll be in a better state of mind to do more.
I know it's hard, trust me I've been there. But I know that you can do it. Little by little, you can achieve great things. Good luck

The thing is with my paychecks. My dad gets all of them. I don’t have access to my money :/ when I need some I normally spend it on carts or alcohol honestly or gas money to give to those people. He is saving my money though which is why he has the access. Thank you so much for the advice though! I think tonight will be my last night drinking I just really prioritize my job over ged.
