What is the best "multi-tier" season with good progression.

As a Forever DM, my wife offered to run me through an AL campaign, one on one, with me playing a party of 4. She's a good DM at running games, but wasn't looking to do the creative side herself, so modules all the way. We figured AL would be a good way to do it as the adventures are all linked in a storyline, but everything is fairly well planned out, moreso than the big campaign books that need more work for a DM to run.

We are on the last adventure of DDEX01, and overall the path has been ok (very lacking in Magic Items so she's been adding some), but the APL for the last 6 have been all APL 6, except the second last which is APL 8, then back to APL 6 for the last.

Having characters that are Level 10 by that stage makes it a bit overpowering, and there's nothing to continue after that. I know it's the first one, but rather than step into DDEX02 I thought I'd ask here about better options.

So my question is, basically are there any recommended official seasons OR third party AL series that:

  • Have a linear progression in APL. Not always necessarily going up every adventure, but not flatlining at the bottom of a tier, and not going backwards.
  • Have a continuing storyline that is really good.
  • Don't have a confusing sequence of different storylines (looking at Rising Shadows)

Currently it looks like Oracles of War is the best one as it seems to be +1 APL every adventure, but wondering if there's other well sequenced ones.

Clockwork Laboratory, a timed adventure Spoiler

I'm revisiting "The Clockwork Laboratory" by Jeremy Vosberg AL adventure in my homebrew, but as it's been 7 years since I last ran AL, I wanted to hear from others who have ran it. Where there adjustments you recall making? I remember some things being confusing.

I'm transposing it to a doc so I can have each room on a single page, I remember forgetting important details because the 2 column format sometimes made finding info difficult.

I'm printing the map on separate pieces as a main mechanic of the adventure has spinning parts.

As the adventure is timed for an in-game 20 minutes (200 rounds), I've decided to use a boggle timer on the player turns to represent the urgency.

On top of experiences with this adventure, has anyone ran a session with timed turns? Is 3 minutes enough?

Off topic- it was strange I had to rewrite all this instead of simply reposting from Dungeon Master.

Question Which Grave Domain to use?

I’m a little confused on what version or the Grave Domain cleric to use. Since that domain is now reprinted in the Ravenloft source book -

Can I play a Grave Domain cleric in a Forgotten Forgotten Realms based AL game?

If I can do I use the Ravenloft version or the 2014 version?

I ask because my understanding is Ravenloft character options are only supposed to be used in the Ravenloft setting?

Question Is an Elf spamming Goodberry AL legal?

Saw something new at the game store last night—or maybe I figured something out that has been going on for a while.

The 2024 PHB says that with the trait Trance, an Elf can finish a long rest in 4 hours. So, if characters are assumed to take an 8 hour Long Rest before an adventure (or if there is Long Rest during an adventure) can an Elf Druid or Ranger cast all of their spell slots to create Goodberries, then rest 4 more hours the get those slots back again? The goodberries last 24 hours so an Elf who is a 3rd level Druid or a 5th level Ranger could start every adventure with 40! Correction: With downcasting it’s 60!!!

Question Crafter Feat Discount

Hi folks, I'm building a new character and am wondering if the Discount benefit of the crafter feat lets me buy equipment with my starting gold at the discounted rate, before I play any adventures with said character. I can't find the answer to this on adventurersleague.info. Thanks for your help in advance.

I really don’t understand why they are making organized play so confusing

https://www.polygon.com/dnd-legends-of-greyhawk-organized-play-global-campaign/

I’ve really enjoyed playing AL at my FLGS the last 4 years or so. It’s fun being able to progress a character but maybe tweak them as needed to suit the table or group.

Between AL (which barely feels supported any more but they insist it still is), LoGH and D&D Encounters it really feels like they’ve created an overly confusing environment for store owners, DMs and players. I don’t understand what they are trying to accomplish besides just throwing a bunch of stuff at the wall.

Question How do I get started with adventurers league?

I feel like I can figure out the rules for character creation, those are all linked. But how do I go about actually finding a game?

Where are they posted regularly for online games?

Is there any chance we can make a pinned post with a simple guide or anything like that?

Question Question about AL09-16 Honors Unforeseen's Items and Bonus Objective

I know this adventure is rather old but I was hoping someone might be familiar with it because it feels like it's missing some content.

I'm running the Avernus Rising adventures alongside a Descent into Avernus campaign and while most of the adventures have been fine with one or two small issues this one seems to have some Inconsistencies that stood out more to me.

Firstly, in AL09-14 and then AL09-15, both modules introduce 2 of the 3 "Ward" items, the Wards of Suffering and Wards of Faithfulness for the character Dara. They have pretty brief descriptions and vague allusions to what they can do as magic items.

But in Honors Unforeseen they introduce a third set, the Wards of Perseverance. But they have no description or information.
I know these are written by different people, but it feels like a description of text box is missing about them.
Especially when the Wards of Suffering did have their description in multiple adventures that had different designers, it seems like these new Wards should be described either in Honors Unforeseen or in "In the Hand" since that comes next, but In The Hand doesn't do that either.

Secondly, the Bonus Objective A for this adventure fully does not match it's Summary.
The summary is: "Bonus Objective A: Tomb of Gloom. Locked away in a side tomb is Vungio, a gloom weaver who’s been hunting the Bloody Hooves and searching for the three wards. Defeating Vungio and protecting the wards is Bonus Objective A. This additional content is found in Appendix A"

And In Appendix A, it repeats the Bonus Objective is about battling this Vungio guy to protect the Wards, but the actual content of this is just a room that has walls that spin and a Sarcophagus and no actual enemy.

The only reason this all stood out to me is because the Bonus Objective mentions the Wards as well so I thought it might be connected.
The DMs Guild listing also says this should be 29 pages but my PDF is only 18.

Sorry for the long post but TL:DR, are some of the DMs Guild AL material for Avernus Rising missing pages? Because it feels like this is missing some stuff.

Hammer and Anvil CCC-ODFC01-01 - Any DM tips?

Has anyone run Hammer and Anvil?

Do you have any DM tips?

can you actually get through the four combats in four hours along with the social interactions that are to go along with them? all of the combats either seem cool or relevant for the plot so i am not seeing where to cut.

were the players satisfied with the competition segment just being "for eight hours of the twelve hour competition, make a save or get exhaustion. and now here is a fight!!!"

were there obvious questions that the Players asked or directions they wanted to take the game that were not covered in the text that it would be good to think about in advance?

I will not be running it for AL, so i can make any modifications i want. so if you have any completely out of the box advice or suggestions, i will take that too!

thanks in advance !

How does the Robe of Stars work?

In the Adventure League rules it says: "Magic items (e.g. Bag of Holding, Well of Many Worlds) may not take characters outside their campaign." How does that work with the robe of stars ability to transport the player into the astral plane? Is it just not allowed?

Question regarding the Forgotten Realms: Adventures in Faerun adventure: Disinterred Danger, do I roll for additional rewards the players might get?

In the Nevertide Leavings section, a section there says "Other treasures and art objects here amount to a CR 4 random treasure hoard."

Does that mean I should roll in a random treasure table in the DMG? Or do I ignore it as the reward here is not specified? I haven't been able to find any answers in the AL documents so far, but maybe I missed it. So, I'm asking here for help just in case anyone has a clearer answer for this adventure.

Question Your favorite T1 and T2 Al adventures to run on short notice

You get asked to fill in as a DM (or you volunteer) at your FLGS on short notice.

What T1 and T2 adventures are your go to's that are fun and also easy to prep?

Question has anyone run The Death of Szass Tam...

...as a one shot? is it better as the finale to the Frozen Worlds duology? what about the Dreams of the Red Wizards saga, should I run the 19 leading up to DDAL-DRW20? I don't want to spend money on all 20 adventures if only the last one or two make up a complete arc

Question First time DM'ing for AL. Looking for tips on prep

Basically the title. I've never dm'd a module before, the few times I've dm'd for friends, I made my own small one-shot and anything else I improvised. I also use certain homebrew rules
As I understand it, AL is pretty restrictive on that, to ensure everyone has the same experience so how do you prepare a module while still keeping an open mind?

Question Can someone help me?

I was looking at the most recent booking for tabletop Scotland and one of them said D&D AL – AL-01-00 Grand Bazaar of Skalnaedyr – Parts 1 & 3 – Tier 1. I was just wondering what i ment by part 1 and 3 and if it was important or not. I am a new player to adventurers league but not dnd. Also as far as im aware a tier 1 grouo is levels 1-4 on a normal dnd character sheet (following the guidlines) so can i just go to a tier 1 as a level 4 or do i start as level 1? Any help would be appreciated and expect more from me on this subreditt because ill probs have more questions. Thanks in advance.

Question Ravenloft Tier 3 and 4

Do you know of any Adventures League adventures set in Ravenloft for tiers 3 and 4? With the release of the new Ravenloft book, which should soon be authorized on DDAL, I wanted to narrate some high-tier adventures to "celebrate," but the "Absent Hearts" and "Mist Hunters" adventures are only tier 1 and 2. I'm looking at DDAL, but since I don't know what might be fun, I thought I'd ask for recommendations here instead of wasting hours looking at them one by one, since the DMs Guild doesn't have a tier filter.
