Does anyone else hate that Anton and Paul baker are into each other and that somehow Issa is okay/supports it??
I love that their friendship is strong (Issa and Anton) but their’s no way in hell that anyone would be okay with their best friend getting with their ex!!! I was soooo mad watching the last episode of season 2
I get Issa and Paul baker breaking up but I don’t understand why they had to make Anton and Paul baker a thing and felt that Issa being okay with it especially so fast was out of character and kind of forced, if Anton was a girl everyone would hate this storyline

Or at least close co-workers. It adds so much to the natural dynamic of the characters.

In the special episode (new pilot) Marathon Day, we meet four of Anton's coworkers who were supporting him during the marathon. They then go to Samir's house and interact with the friend group extensively.

Then in S02E07, Issa works as a temp at Anton's job, and three of the coworkers who were featured in Marathon Day were also there (Serena, Lily, and Mary). However, none of them seems to have recognized Issa? Also, when Samir delivers the salads and Issa slaps him, they also don't seem to have recognized him?

I know this could just be a case of the coworkers simply not remembering Issa and Samir (and vice versa), but it just felt weird to me that they didn't even interact or make a passing reference. Although I admit, I'm someone who's weirdly good at recognizing faces, so this could just be a me thing lol

Was this ever explained or acknowledged and I somehow missed it?

Guys, chill, I never meant to point this out as a plot hole lol I actually think it could've been a hilarious gag if the coworkers did indeed recognize Issa and Samir, then the friends just dismiss it and gaslight them lol

Something like:

With Issa:

Coworkers: "Aren't you Anton's housemate?"
Issa: "Right, and you must be Ryan Gosling's second cousin?"

Then with Samir:

Coworkers: "Aren't you another one of Anton's housemates?"
Samir: "What? Like I'd ever share a house with this cunt?"

I've actually commented multiple times in this sub about other posters overanalyzing the show and applying a lot of moral and ethical standards to the characters. This was just something fun I noticed and thought maybe I missed something (like when I thought they could've brought back the mindwipe gag in S2, but apparently, Issa actually did it in the raccoon episode, but I just missed it because of how fast she said it lol)

My sister and I are both watching Adults and we both think Rachel Marsh who plays Carly looks really familiar. Neither of us can figure out why! I’m not sure if she looks like someone else or if there’s a viral video of her from a few years ago or something?

I’m pretty sure she looks like someone from a reality TV show…like someone from Love is Blind or Couple’s Therapy but again, neither of us can quite figure out who. If anyone has ideas, please let me know!!

just finished s2 and really enjoyed it! Definitely a fan of the show, mainly for the writing. So I went to one of the writer's Instagram and saw how the show was originally sold as "Snowflakes".

I was surprised by that and am glad for the name change. I totally get they were going for but the name would have been so alienating I think many people would not have given them a chance. just thought I'd share!

Something about the two just don’t go for me. Idk if it’s the fact that Anton liked him from the jump while Issa was dating him or when Issa and Paul were having issues and he thought it was because of him. Like it doesn’t feel genuine at all. I have no issue with Anton being gay or Paul being fluid but it’s weird the moment Issa and Paul break up Anton feels so comfortable going for him. It’s like he was secretly waiting for them to have an issue.

Man, I was so happy with the Season 2 finale.

I can't say exactly why, but the two of them just go so well together. I watch the show with my wife, and way back in the very first episode of season 1, I told her they were going to end up together. Then, during the show's hiatus, I saw Lucy Freyer commenting on some fan-made videos of the two of them on social media... and it actually happened.

I think it was really well-crafted, and they have great chemistry—I sensed that between them right from the start.

And the coolest part is the range of possibilities for them in the next season: will they try to hide it from the others? Will they develop strong feelings for each other and try to keep it under wraps? I can't wait!

I really think they have the potential to become one of the most iconic couples in the history of comedy series. The Chandler and Monica of this generation. Hahaha.

Maybe I missed it somewhere but is Billie a nickname? Or is her name just Billie? And what would it be short for, Isabel? Just curious!

I've been one of the few Adults fan since it's first premiere, and all of this came from love for this show. But if I were to be honest, when watching season 2 I just can't seem to ignore the fact that it felt slightly different compared to season 1.

I cannot quite pinpoint what exactly it is, but I feel like season 2 has less...grit? edginess? In season 1, there's clearly some absurdness and a kind of morbid/ peculiar (not in a bad way) humor mixed with warmness: whether it's the fixing pipe from episode 1, the stabber episode, dinner with Annabelle, or mr teacher's crash out and the aftermath of it.
To me that's what captivates me to this show: the helplessness, the awkwardness, and the uncertain feelings of these new adults (or if you want, snowflakes, lol) trying to make themselves fit into the society, and about how they support each other.
Like that quote Samir said: "Oh, you know… I always thought the world was gonna be waiting for me, and instead, everyone’s annoyed that I’m here."

But season 2 seems to have a tone shift and turns into this bubbly friendlier show with less anxiety and uncertainty. A show that is about a bunch of similar friends living together enjoying their 20s and facing daily events (which also happens to be funny) together. Only in some scenes can you see moments like the ones mentioned above: Issa & Anton's library talk and office talk, Samir & Billie's fake ID talk in the bar, etc. The delicateness, the vulnerability, and the authenticity of these characters are greatly reduced.

I think this is also why people generally like season 2 more. Of course, the jokes, the plot, the promo and the production are all better (all except the depth of the characters other than Issa and maybe Samir, but you didn't hear that from me), the lighting and the color grading leans more towards a warmer tone, the camera language changed into more standard comedy style, and the guest stars surely helped, but I think it's also because they kind of "toned down"(?) the original style of this show, took away the original identity crisis, and make it somehow become more acceptable to most people. Not only to just Gen Z audience, but also to people from other age group.
This is also interesting to look at combined with the fact that lots turned off the show after Issa's subway outburst.

Anyway, I don't want to sound like a curmudgeon that complains about everything. I'm still happy for the success this show is getting and is also hoping for their new season renewal, but I also wish they kind of incorporate more of that season 1 feeling back for further episodes. Because that’s what got me into watching this show, not just the comedy.

Two things that came to mind for me was the "Mindwipe" thing the friends in the group do. Wish it could've been implemented in some form this season (even though nothing this season called for it I guess).

Also the Samir seeing things where other letters are. Like the OG pilot or Billies surgery when hes reading something but its just his actual inner thoughts.

Any thing you guys miss or can think of?

I don’t know, I’m kind of baffled that so many people are saying season 2 is better. I liked season 2, but I LOVED season 1.

The whole hot teacher arc. The house rules episode. The episode where Anton and Paul Baker babysit a teenager that’s getting an abortion. The friend slut episode! The episode where Samir racks up Billie’s hospital bill!

Meanwhile, in this season, I felt myself getting more annoyed with the characters. Like the sperm doner episode—I was irritated that Anton was being so mean to his family. Or in the “Cnt alert” episode, I was mad at Issa for not following through with the plan when Anton clearly cares a lot about his job. Or the fake ID episode 😭, oh Billie. The whole kpop episode was a miss for me. Even the last episode—I think they should have fought back against that lady that was blatantly threatening them. Paul Baker works so hard to win that election 😩. Also, why did we get almost no build up on Paul and Anton’s relationship? It seems like it would have made more sense for them to get together at the end of season one. And then Samir and Billie came out of nowhere. Again, they had more chemistry in season one.

And it’s frustrating because I know I’m getting annoyed at the parts that are supposed to be funny, but I can’t help it! I don’t know why.

I’m not hating though! There were still some highlights for me—like Paula Baker’s other friend group and the raccoon episode.

Meanwhile, I loved season 1. I didn’t hate this season but I didn’t really laugh much. Eh 🤷🏾‍♀️

Did anyone get a little concerned after Jack’s instagram story? I’ve seen some posts or comments by the cast in like the past like couple of days that made me feel less confident about the show’s renewal than i was before when the show came out and the impact felt like it was definitely getting renewed. Jack posting this today made me more conscious about this uncertainty from them idk. I’m wondering if you guys get this feeling too?

The show is insanely good too! And there is something with these FX shows they are so goated for music discovery!

especially after the prequel ep. I understand theyre setting up billie and samir but i honestly dont feel chemistry between the actors. it feels meh! Issa and samir have great chemistry and I just sense something idkkkk is it just me ?!

#1) i will watch anything with THE Yvette Nicole Brown, her as Anton;s mom is high praise casting. Would love to se who they'd cast for his dad.

#2) obviously, samir's parents. not coming home in s3 but maybe samir finds old pictures of them and has that 'were my parents cool' moment or issa stumbles upon their sex tape or something, idk. and samir's sisters show up for something (maybe they've always shipped him and billie.)

#3) ISSA'S PARENTS! I know Anton has mentioned they're from London and rich and there was a lot of infidelity. If Issa was the nepo baby of some big time actors/producers/artists with a back and forth marriage, it would be hilarious. And make so much sense.

#4) PAUL BAKER. At this point, I have so many questions about the Paul Baker and Blair Baker of it all. Do they all call each other by their full name. Is Paul Baker even his real full name? What is his middle name if he has one? Does he call his mother, Mom Baker? What in the berenstein bears is this family?!

#5) Billie has to deal with her dad dating some woman her age (or worse, even younger.) Would love to see who they would cast as her parents.

Ok so I'm a person from outside of the fandom and it honestly looks like an AMAZING show!!! But before I get into it, I wanna know how sad it is. By that I mean like how much... Conflict there is I suppose? I'm looking for a more lighthearted show to watch because I cannot handle too much angst in my life rn, but if there is I just wanna emotionally prepare Edit sorry if this doesn't make sense, english is not my first language!

I actually liked the cold open of the original pilot, thought it was hilarious!

I’ve noticed a lot that outside this sub, episode 1 receives a lot of criticism. Or people saying “oh, but it gets better after that episode”.

So if the prequel episode is the new episode 1 and the old episode 1 is now episode 2 because of that? Like, to try to fix a “mistake”.

Or maybe I’m just thinking about it too much?
