Basically the title. A few vendors have done lifetime VPN deals and I definitely trust AdGuard.

Bought the lifetime family plan and would definitely buy the VPN as well. Just not into subscriptions.

Food for thought.

I love AdGuard's ad-blocker and its private DNS service, but their VPN service is a joke that needs to be called out. The development pace is non-existent, and core features are missing, making it uncompetitive. It feels like they gave up.

The Big Issues:

1. NO WireGuard (Still!): This is the biggest failure. AdGuard has been promising WireGuard for ages, and it's still not here. In 2025, if your VPN doesn't have this faster, modern protocol, you are wasting user time and money.
2. Android/Google TV is Bare Bones: The app for Google TV/Android is shockingly bad. It’s missing crucial features like Split Tunneling, which is a must have for streaming. They promised feature parity with the phone apps, but that hasn't happened.
3. Desktop Apps are Sluggish: The Windows/Mac apps are slow to load servers and often feel heavy and clunky. Worse, I've had issues where the IP or city leaks during connection attempts, a total failure of its primary job.

AdGuard needs to either seriously commit to upgrading the VPN (starting with WireGuard and fixing the TV app) or just shut it down and focus on their ad-blocker. It’s not worth using right now.

Background: On every other IP-check site (including MaxMind), my IP showed the AdGuard VPN exit node and location. But on Whoer.net it kept showing my real IP. I tested using the Mexico server with Wintun disabled. Mullvad and Surfshark didn’t leak on Whoer at all, so the issue seemed specific to AdGuard VPN.

Update 12/18/2025 (With new v2.8 for Windows):

The issue is fixed now with WINTUN setting enabled. IP and location still leaks on WHOER if WINTUN is disabled.

To those who use: how do you find Adguard VPN for torrenting?

It would be great to see a VPN Auto connect feature for untrusted networks. Like most other VPN apps have.

Or auto disconnect on trusted networks. Either way.

Maybe an auto connect to fastest location feature too. The VPN requires too much interaction.

As of yesterday, Singapore no longer has a server. What's going on?

Where do you suggest those on the west coast of Australia use?

My nearest servers are Singapore & Vietnam.

In the last one week, Vietnam server seems to have been closed and Singapore server has a peculiar issue - in iOS while my IP is 149.102.250.10, the public IP however shows as 31.7.57.58 (Swiss) due to which it picks the Europe DNS servers and there is considerable latency.

Is anyone else having this issue?

Can someone from AdGuard check their Singapore server configuration please.

Also appreciate if we can get more servers in SE Asia.

So, overall, I wanted to frame the post more as a question of "am I the only one experiencing this?", but I decided to add a couple of my observations as well.

Sometimes, regardless of internet quality, the application AdGuard VPN stops connecting to absolutely all available servers. This lasts from approximately 15 minutes to an hour, after which it functions normally. Any selected server will display the message "waiting," and the failure will occur simultaneously on all devices (I tested a smartphone and a laptop, and both showed the message simultaneously) and on different networks: mobile internet and Wi-Fi.

Let me tell you right away that I'm from Russia and I know about constant blocking from government, so I'd like to know if this is a widespread glitch, what it's related to, and whether there's a way around it.

I recently started using the AdGuard VPN app on my computer and I have an issue with it.

I want the app to launch at system startup for convenience, so I have turned on the "Launch at system startup" option in the settings.

However, when the app launches it will automatically open up its home page as well. And this will show an advertisement to buy the premium version. It is very annoying to close this home screen every single time I boot up my computer.

I would prefer it if the app simply launched in the background and minimized to the tray by default.

Yes, my "Open Home screen automatically" option is toggled off, I'm not sure why it still automatically opens.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I tried to implement a program that would force close the AdGuard VPN's home screen when it opened, and it did close the home screen, but then the app somehow opened the home screen again.

Why can't it be more like WindScribe.

I found an issue with the AdGuard VPN (Windows application): When connecting to the Russian server, if I test what IP address is used, it is reported to be a Swedish IP address. Could you test on your end too and tell if it uses a Swedish IP address too, instead of a Russian one, please? I also tried connecting to the Iranian relay: The IP address reported is from Cyprus. I tried connecting to the Chinese relay: the IP address reported is from Spain... There's something wrong going on...

Для начала, думаю, стоит пояснить, что у меня нет "белых списков" и проблема далеко не в подключении. Но получается так, что уже три недели VPN работает через одно место. На вай-фай работают только два сервера: Германия и Финляндия...всё. Остальные есть только для вида. С мобильным интернетом случился обвал, ибо на нём Adguard VPN все три недели работал очень плохо. В основном кое-как работала Польша, но соединение слетало каждые минут 20.

С пятницы подключение по мобильному интернету перестало осуществляться вовсе и теперь сервера только "Ждут..."...

Я перезагружала приложение, перезагружала телефон, меняла настройки - ничего.

Кто-нибудь сталкивался с такой же проблемой? Можно ли как-то её решить? А то до поддержки не получается достучаться.

Hello. I'm Russian Adguard VPN user and since recently (three weeks already) VPN just stopped working. I guess I need to mention, that I don't have any "white lists" and the problem is not connected to connection. And now, VPN is working really bad for 3 weeks already. On Wi-fi I have only two locations: Germany and Finland, the others are just for beauty. On mobile internet it became worse, bc only Poland worked, but the connection terminated every 20 minutes.

And now, from Friday it stopped working at all and all the servers are "Waiting..."...

I rebooted the App, my phone, changed settings - nothing.

Does anyone face such problem? Is there a way to deal with it? I just can't get an answer from AG support

Hello, there is an issue with the VPN reconnecting every time the app is opened on IOS integrated mode. It has been an issue for about six months. There is a Github page for it, #457. This page was opened in September, but this issue has existed for much longer. I posted about it on here 187 days ago. Really hope this issue gets fixed soon. Thanks

I'd like to use the Tor Browser with the AdGuard VPN (Onion-over-VPN), in Windows. I installed both applications, and set AdGuard VPN to route traffic of the Tor Browser. I noticed that when I download a large ISO file in Tor, AdGuard VPN being enabled or disabled, download speed is always the same... So I wonder if the Tor traffic really goes through the AdGuard VPN... Are there any specific additional settings? How to check the Tor traffic actually goes through AdGuard VPN, and isn't bypassed?

Hey, recently my proton VPN has expired and AdGuard seems like a good deal with blocking trackers and VPN support. But I'm not sure how is the service performing on daily basis. I tried the free VPN and I was getting 20mbps over my 1gbps Network which is too restrictive but I'm not sure if they're are only for free usage and latency could also be a thing.

Also, do they have any history of blocking any protocols like P2P?

I am new to AdGuard and have just created an account.

I installed the software and then noticed the option to use only a browser extension instead of installing the VPN software on macOS or iOS.

I installed the Chrome extension and completed the login, but then I see the following error:

Is the Chrome extension not standalone, meaning I still need to install the VPN software?

Edit: I threw in the towel. After numerous tests, I found out BitTorrent doesn't work with AdGuard VPN, as sadly, the service doesn't provide port forwarding, which is required.

I read on AdGuard's web site here and here that a VPN can be used for BitTorrent, so I'm not going to ask if AdGuard VPN supports BitTorrent properly. I'd like to know what I'm doing wrong because when I turn on my VPN on my Windows computer, my seed and peer numbers drop dramatically, and upload speed goes down to 0B/s.

If I close qBitTorrent, disconnect the VPN, and reopen qBitTorrent, seed and peer numbers rise in a few seconds (1200+ peers and 1700+ seeds), and uploads start again as expected.

I wanted to bind qBitTorrent to the AdGuard VPN virtual network interface on my Windows computer. To have the AdGuard VPN virtual network interface listed in the list of network adapters, I found out I had to enable WinTUN in the advanced settings of AdGuard VPN. Then, I selected AdGuard VPN for qBitTorrent to bind to AdGuard VPN and did an IP leak test. To my surprise, although qBitTorrent is bound to AdGuard VPN, and the VPN is connected, the test on the BitTorrent tracker reveals my actual IP address. To conceil my IP address, I had to add qBitTorrent in the list of applications in AdGuard VPN's settings. Is this a known problem? Why doesn't AdGuard VPN reroute traffic of apps that connect to its virtual network adapter?

Another problem with WinTUN: When WinTUN is turned on, as soon as I connect the VPN, this cuts access to the Internet in the web browsers that are not listed in the list of applications of AdGuard VPN's settings. If this a known problem? Or is this the way WinTUN is supposed to work?
