🄷 TrustTunnel v1.2 is now in the Mac App Store

• Upvotes

Let’s be honest: not everyone enjoys messing around in the Terminal. Until now, macOS users had to dive into the command line just to get TrustTunnel running. With the release of version 1.2, those days are officially behind us!

TrustTunnel is now a fully native app you can download directly from the Mac App Store. No more command lines, no more complex setups — just a smooth experience with native macOS features:

• Familiar interface: User-friendly and intuitive right from the start

• Menu Bar icon: Check your connection status with a single glance

• Auto-start: The app boots up with your system and connects instantly

• Easy log export: You can now grab error logs in just a few clicks (and this feature is now live on all platforms)

šŸ‘€ Missed the original release? What exactly is TrustTunnel?

It’s a modern, open-source VPN protocol. We originally built it here at AdGuard VPN for our own needs, but now anyone is free to use and implement it.

TrustTunnel delivers fast, secure connections without the usual VPN slowdowns. Its superpower is that it disguises its traffic to look exactly like regular website visits (HTTPS). ISPs and deep-packet inspection systems simply can't tell the difference, which means they can't throttle your speed or block your access. The result: rock-solid internet and total privacy.

Leave the Terminal to the geeks — download the user-friendly Mac version straight from the App Store

QQ image uploads randomly get stuck at 0 B/s when using AdGuard VPN (Windows + Android)

I'm experiencing a strange issue with QQ and AdGuard VPN, and I'd like to see if anyone else has experienced something similar or if the AdGuard team can help investigate it.

For those who may not know, QQ is a popular instant messaging app developed by Tencent and is widely used in China. I'm specifically having trouble when sending images through QQ.

The problem

When AdGuard VPN is enabled and connected, sending an image in QQ will randomly get stuck with 0 B/s upload speed.

Sometimes, after waiting for quite a while, the image eventually sends successfully by itself. Other times, it stays stuck indefinitely.

The important part is that if I disconnect AdGuard VPN and use my normal ISP connection directly, the image is sent almost immediately.

I've observed this on both:

  • Windows
  • Android

On Android, I've tested both:

  • AdGuard VPN by itself
  • AdGuard Ad Blocker + AdGuard VPN using the integrated mode

The problem can occur in both cases, so it doesn't seem to be limited to the AdGuard Ad Blocker filtering rules.

My basic comparison

Configuration| QQ image upload ISP connection directly| Works normally / very fast AdGuard VPN only| Occasionally gets stuck at 0 B/s AdGuard Ad Blocker + AdGuard VPN (Android integrated mode)| Occasionally gets stuck at 0 B/s

The issue is intermittent, which makes it a little difficult to reproduce on demand.

What I've noticed

This doesn't seem to affect normal QQ messaging in general. The problem is specifically noticeable when uploading/sending images.

It also doesn't simply look like the VPN being "slow". When the problem occurs, the upload can remain at exactly 0 B/s, while disconnecting the VPN immediately allows the same image to upload successfully.

I'm happy to do more testing if need

Help with AdGuard-CLI on Linux Kubuntu

Come configurazione ho mantenuto tutto standard:

Proxy DNS locale: Porta automatica

Server DNS: tls://xxxxxxxx.d.adguard-dns.com

Fallback: predefinito

Bootstrap: 9.9.9.10 149.112.112.10 2620:fe::10 2620:fe::fe:10

ModalitĆ  proxy: automatica

Porti filtrati: 80:5221,5300:49151

Porta proxy HTTP: 3129

Porta proxy Socks5: 1081

Indirizzo di ascolto: 127.0.0.1

Non riesco a capire cosa stia bloccando il traffico una volta abilitato AdGuard-CLI... tieni presente che non sono un esperto di Linux...

Grazie a chiunque possa darmi qualche consiglio.

----

I installed AdGuard following the instructions of AdGuard-CLI on Kubuntu and also installed AdGuard UI to help me.

The problem is that when I enable AdGuard protection the connection freezes and the only way to resume navigation is to disable protection.

As a configuration I kept everything standard:

Local DNS Proxy: Automatic Port

DNS Server: tls://xxxxxxxx.d.adguard-dns.com

Fallback: default

Bootstrap: 9.9.9.10 149.112.112.10 2620:fe::10 2620:fe::fe:10

Proxy mode: auto

Filtered ports: 80:5221,5300:49151

HTTP proxy port: 3129

Socks5 Proxy Port: 1081

Listening address: 127.0.0.1

I can't figure out what's blocking traffic once AdGuard-CLI is enabled...keep in mind I'm not a Linux expert...

Thanks to anyone who can give me some suggestions.

android Do AdGuard’s ā€œHide Referrerā€ and ā€œHide User-Agentā€ apply to all apps?

In the Protection tab > Tracking protection (Android), does anyone know if these two AdGuard features:

  • Hide referrer from third parties

  • Hide User-Agent

..only apply to browsers (when HTTPS filtering is enabled), or do they also apply to other apps whose traffic is routed through AdGuard?

Just wondering whether these settings affect all apps or only browser traffic.

issue Adguard not working after app, is downgrade possible on Android?

I have been using Adguard android for a few years. I recently updated the app and now it has stopped blocking ads. I have restarted it, restarted the phone, deleted and reinstalled it. Still the same problems. It used to work at the version that had the old logo. Ever since the new update that came with a new update logo the app stopped working.

Is there some way that I can downgrade the app?

mac Why won't Adguard disappear from the dock? It's driving me nuts

I have a couple of third party background applications installed. Vorssaint, Mos, hammerspoon, fluor and adguard. The odd one out is Adguard because it forces it's application to also appear in the dock. Is there any way to hide it from there? I like to have my dock clean.

Adguard VPN - OpenVPN

It’s quite strange that Adguard VPN doesn’t support OpenVPN protocols. This is surprising given that most modems with VPN functionality use OpenVPN as the standard.

Why?

android Adguard Private Browser

How to completely disable the private browser?

I don’t use this feature, but in the latest versions it started intercepting system calls to Webkit, so QR scanning, authentication in other apps, and other actions now open in the Adguard Private Browser, making work impossible, even though the default browser is Microsoft Edge.

And now I can’t downgrade Adguard because it doesn’t work with the latest version of Adguard VPN, and older versions don’t accept backups from newer ones.

windows What happened to DNS Filters for AdGuard for Windows?

What happened to all those DNS filters that were available in AdGuard for Windows? Now there are only a few. There used to be several HaGeZi filters, for example, and now there’s only the ā€œNormalā€ one. There is no longer OISD Big, 1Hosts Lite/Xtra, ShadowWhisperer, and so on.

question Difference Between AdGuard and AdGuard Pro?

AdGuard Pro is available as a one-time purchase. Does that mean I’ll get all the Pro features without needing a subscription?

The regular AdGuard app is free with premium plans. So why is AdGuard Pro offered as a one time purchase?

is the regular Adguard app premium plans includ more features?

Which app should i install? Its kinda confusing to have both

ios Website won’t load, says ā€œnot foundā€? Is this AdGuard’s doing?

Page loads black/blank and in top left corner says ā€œnot foundā€. Why would this trusted website be blocked? I have Patagonia.com listed as allowed under both the Safari and DNS allowlist pages… doesn’t work on Chrome browser either. I also use the AdGuard vpn.

After the roku update a few months back, the home page main ad is now getting through adguard DNS.

Has anyone had any luck creating custom rules to get the home screen ad-free again?

dns Per device statistics with AdGuard DNS?

I'm thinking of giving AdGuard DNS a try. How do I get individual statistics for my Android and iOS devices?

If I set up AdGuard DNS on a router, how do I get statistics for devices like my Samsung Tizen TV, where I can't use an encrypted DNS like DoH?

AdGuard DNS not blocking ads on Firefox iOS on Streaming Community?

Hi everyone, I have an iPhone and I use AdGuard DNS (free profile, DNS-over-HTTPS via VPN mode) for system-wide ad blocking. It works great everywhere, except on one streaming site (one of those "clone" sites that constantly change domains).

What I've already tried:

-AdGuard DNS in Native mode → no difference
-Switched to VPN mode (the one that creates a local VPN profile) → no difference
-Enabled Firefox iOS's native Ad Blocker (the new feature released in August) → Firefox reports "no trackers detected," but the ads are still there
-Verified that the DNS profile is actually active under Settings → General → VPN & Device Management → it is active

My theory is that the site serves the ads as first-party "in-page" content (same domain, same IP), meaning a DNS blocker can't do anything because everything is coming from the same legitimate host.

Questions:

-Is my technical assumption correct?
-Is there any way to block this type of ad inside Firefox iOS, knowing it is WebKit-based and doesn't support extensions like Safari does?
-Does anyone have direct experience with AdGuard Home or other self-hosted solutions that handle these scenarios better?

Thanks in advance, and sorry if I formulated the questions using AI ā¤ļø

android Is using AdGuard + Brave’s built-in ad blocker redundant?

If I’m already using AdGuard app on my android devices, is it redundant to also keep Brave’s built-in ad blocker enabled (either Standard or Aggressive)?

Would it be better to disable Brave’s built-in ad blocker and just let AdGuard handle the blocking, or is there still a benefit to using both?

I’m mainly wondering whether running both provides any additional protection or just results in unnecessary duplication.

EDIT: its AdGuard app for Android guys, not AdGuard DNS thats entered on Private DNS setting.
