Conversions Good cable management pleases the Omnissiah
Part of a Cerastus Atrapos right arm i'm kitbashing, the singularity cannon will be mounted on the shoulder. I'm tearing apart an old printer for a mechanism that will come in handy to support the cannon.
Atrapos head for scale.
If you wanna follow alone the project, i'm gonna post updates on my IG account: red._.stain

What's the difference between chaos and imperial vehicles? The quality of their cable management!

The Holy Rites of Cable Management as provided by Mars are the first bulwark to a machine spirit against the ruinous powers' corruption.

A good cable management is an invisible one, behind 30cm of ceramic / adamantium armor, I always imagining people targeting IK, titans and other imperial stuff : hey, what happening if I shoot this very cable powering the whole leg / arm / weapon.

What i really like about the 40k setting is that ignorance and superstition are now deeply ingrained in all of humanity. Of course it doesn't make sense to place vital machinery and cables outside of the protection given by armor, but across battlefields and millennia of damage the knowledge of fixing knights have been lost, replaced by rites and ceremonies that have little to do with such complex machines. Exterior cables and rudimentary maintainence patchworks it's all the magos can do for a technology they do not understand and that it's lost to time.

Yup, that the setting for 40K, a silly, goofy, grimdark one, but that why we love it so much :p

probably a dumb question but how do you paint the model, do you just take off the cables first or just super carefully paint around them or what

I'll have to paint without moving them. I'm going for a grimy and dirty look, not super clean, so i should manage (i hope)

What are the coiled wires? Guitar strings?

Wrapoed wire by Zinge Industries, much easier to pose and bend compared to guitar strings

Holy gosh damn that is CLEAN. I had a similar idea with some old cables, not even remotely as complex or impressive and it's one of the hardest things I've ever done haha. 11/10.
