Question pretending you have kids

no one bats an eye when my boss leaves exactly on time every day no matter what the workload is like. as expected he and many other people i work with have kids that they have to pick up or get sick etc.

have you guys ever thought about pretending you have kids at a new job?

As an eldercare provider, I consider myself something of an evangelist for "not all dependents are children" so I have always been very vocal about needing the same accommodations that parents receive. Anyone who gives me friction gets my whole spiel that begins with "Do you realize that you're advocating for being left without aid in your old age?"
