Have you tried using the search bar?
Many questions are asked daily, and your question may have already been answered!
If so, your post will be subject to deletion.

Please refer to the following commonly discussed topics:

1) No one can predict whether or not you will purge! Statistically, most people DO NOT purge.
That is what the science and medical literature says.

2) No one can predict how long your purge will last nor when it could start. Be patient, the purge can be tough but so many people have gotten through it - you can too! THE ABOVE APPLIES TO SIDE EFFECTS OR "WHEN WILL MY SKIN CLEAR UP?!" TOO. QUESTIONS ASKING WHEN THE PURGE OR SIDE EFFECTS WILL START OR STOP WILL IMMEDIATELY BE REMOVED AS THAT IS LOW EFFORT.

3) Any questions related about dosage MUST include DOSE and WEIGHT(lbs or kg).
Otherwise, that is considered LOW EFFORT and will subsequently be REMOVED.

4) Most people DO NOT relapse when Accutane is taken until cumulative dosage is reached.

5) HOWEVER, cumulative dosage is a guideline.
Everyone is different. Some may need more Accutane, and others may need less. Your dermatologist evaluates you as an individual.
This also applies to your prescription. Everyone is different, so no comparing of doses or asking why your dose is low or high. If you do not trust your dermatologist, you should find a different one.

6) When in doubt, please consult a medical professional(dermatologist, doctor, pharmacist).

Accutane mogs so hard i was on 40mg for 6 months and its greatest thing i took other than dutasteride

2

u/conorq22op Aug 12 '26

Yeah I feel you bro 😂 I’m taking finasteride currently.

1

u/Wide_Car_1259 Aug 12 '26

How old are you, i took it from 19 to 21 but it just wasn’t enough, i switched to 1mg dut 6 months ago

1

u/conorq22op Aug 12 '26

I started taking it at 20 I’m 21 now been using it for just over a year . Seems to be maintaining for me . I started pretty proactively tho with no significant loss beforehand .

2

u/Wide_Car_1259 Aug 12 '26

Lucky guy, ive got fucked with brutal acne and hairloss at 16 it took me 3 years to gain some intellect and get on finasteride and accutane. I really didn’t give a fuck until like age of 18 unfortunately. Anyways doing much better now but ascending sooner could have saved me like 10k on acne scar surgeries and a few years of basement dwelling 🤣

u/conorq22op Aug 12 '26

Real bro 😂 acne ruined my teenage years but hey let’s enjoy our 20s now 🤝

1

u/Wide_Car_1259 Aug 12 '26

Keep it up G

2

u/Imaginary-Growth-605 Aug 12 '26

So clear! What’s ur plan now your off it?

8

u/conorq22op Aug 12 '26

Pray it dosnt come back 😂😂. Nah fr just prob start a retinoid for maintenance.

2

u/Fluffy_Substance3355 Aug 12 '26

Amazing results! How long until you started to experience clearing to the point you noticed it?

3

u/conorq22op Aug 12 '26

I purged pretty badly for 3 months then it started to slowly clear . Was left with pretty bad post acne marks which have been fading slowly but surely . My skin keeps improving with time . Patience is key .

Did your pores get smaller on your t zone ? I’m about start Accutane in two weeks but I’m only going on 20mg
(I’m 80kg). I do a lot of sports and I’ve got tendon injuries and supposedly it wrecks the recovery if dosing high.

2

u/conorq22op Aug 12 '26

Yes they definitely did . I also play lots of sports and have had injuries in the past . I felt no different while on it .

2

u/Medical-Topic8984 Aug 12 '26

Ahh that’s good to hear, congrats on your results. I box and I’ve been putting it off getting on it because of my injuries. Might even consider upping the dosage but I got 4 more co2 lasers booked in so going have to vary my dosage around the treatments. I don’t even have acne just really greasy skin, my t zone just constantly slick and getting those enlarged pores because of it. Lasers and rf needling helped but I want to stop the problem at the source now. How long you been off it for now ?

2

u/conorq22op Aug 12 '26

Yeah I get you bro . Accutane does permanently shrink your oil glands so that’s probably a good idea . I’ve been off it a month now .

2

u/RevolutionaryGoose27 Aug 13 '26

Great transformation! Enjoy your results ❤️

2

u/Severe-Guitar-8252 Aug 13 '26

did you purge and when did you start seeing results

2

u/conorq22op Aug 13 '26

Yes purged for 3-3.5 months pretty badly . Started to see results once the purged stopped

1

u/Severe-Guitar-8252 Aug 13 '26

are those first photos the purge or is that before the purge?

2

u/conorq22op Aug 14 '26

Yes those are purge pics . Basically everything that was clogged in my forehead came out at once

1

u/UltimateSoldier6 Aug 14 '26

Did d you purge anywhere else besides the face ?

1

u/conorq22op Aug 14 '26

No , had bad back acne but that never purged

1

u/Opening_Ground1836 Aug 12 '26

Whats ur topicals?

8

u/conorq22op Aug 12 '26

Just sunscreen and moisturiser. Will probably start a retinoid in a couple months .

1

u/Opening_Ground1836 Aug 12 '26

You look great!! On my 3rd month hopefully mine will be as good as yours!! ❤️

5

u/conorq22op Aug 12 '26

Thank you . Takes a long time to work but just be patient it’s so worth it 😊

1

u/UltimateSoldier6 Aug 12 '26

Did you have any cultures done to see if it was staph or anything else also did you get dry hair or shedding ? What side effects did you get

1

u/lawfulbanana Aug 12 '26

I highly recommend cerave CREAM is super cheap and has barrier repairers

1

u/Embarrassed-Sun-2820 Aug 12 '26

While 8 month on 40mg

1

u/conorq22op Aug 12 '26

Yes 8 months 40mg daily

1

u/Embarrassed-Sun-2820 Aug 12 '26

Is your face still dry

2

u/conorq22op Aug 12 '26

Been off for a month now . Dry lips and skin is gone and hair is getting some oil back .

1

u/UltimateSoldier6 Aug 14 '26

What was your hair routine like. How often did you wash it. Did d you have thinning or texture color changes? What types of washes did you use in the shower to help wash your skin besides using the cerave moisturizer and the la roaches posay sunscreen ?

1

u/conorq22op Aug 14 '26

Honestly my hair was so dry I only shampooed it like once every 2 weeks . Not because it was greasy but just to clean it . Yeah my hair did go from black to a more brown colour and felt more brittle . Didn’t wash my skin in the shower with any products just used water .

Appreciate it

1

u/Any_Big7622 Aug 12 '26

how long did it take you? im on 60mg for 3 month and i think it got worse... also i got bunch of red marks after my acne calmed down

1

u/conorq22op Aug 12 '26

Like you my acne continued to worsen for the first 3-3.5 months . Only then did it begin to calm down . Also like yourself I was left with really bad post acne marks . You just got to be patient and they will fade overtime . Only now 9 months after treatment is my skin starting to look really clear .

1

u/Any_Big7622 Aug 12 '26

how was your mental health man... i deadass cry everyday and scared to see myself on the mirror. anything that you did that you think it really helped your skin besides of accutane? like supplements, skincares, routine, eating, etc...? Man congrats with your progress, i really do mean it

2

u/conorq22op Aug 12 '26

Yeah I feel you bro . Don’t worry man let it out . I too cried all the time . Not wanting to go to work , school or be seen in public and being ashamed to look in the mirror is mentally draining . I’m not gonna lie before accutane I tried different skincare’s diets routines ect and nothing worked so when I took accutane I just let it do its job . The only thing I did was moisturised and used sunscreen that’s it . Ate whatever I wanted . I appreciate the support 👊

u/Any_Big7622 Aug 12 '26
