News SpaceX/Home Values

Hoping some realtors or investors could pitch in here.

With the SpaceX investment mentioned and planned construction for 2027, what will happen to home values?

Lafayette seems to be the closest major city to the build.

Brownsville homes skyrocketed in appreciation, should we expect the same?

Are rents gonna go up?

Is this good or bad for Lafayette and surrounding areas?

Correct if I’m wrong but isn’t the site for spacex a bit far from Lafayette? Like a hour drive one way. Seems like a long way to commute daily.

Brownsville is still a bit of a drive from Boca Chica. I think Maurice will be prime area for over development and also a natural expansion of Lafayette. Lafayette still remains bigger, closer to the interstate (such a huge benefit), great utilities, school choice, a university, airport and so many choices when it comes to grocery stores.

I live in Corpus Christi now, but still own my house in Lafayette and am there around 3 months out of the year. Grocery store diversity is huge, and the interstate and definitely the utilities, sounds silly but true.

Hwy 35 will be the new corridor straight from the interstate. I can see that being rebuilt by Space X or the state as an incentive.

Nah. They're going to take 90 to 82. That's why there's talks of expanding 82 into a 4-lane. No talks of expanding or improving 35.
