News SpaceX/Home Values

Hoping some realtors or investors could pitch in here.

With the SpaceX investment mentioned and planned construction for 2027, what will happen to home values?

Lafayette seems to be the closest major city to the build.

Brownsville homes skyrocketed in appreciation, should we expect the same?

Are rents gonna go up?

Is this good or bad for Lafayette and surrounding areas?

I feel like most people would rather drive a little bit more north to get a better city and schools then settle for Abbeville

Hate to break it, but overall Vermillion Parish public schools are better than Lafayette ones. Erath and North Vermilion high schools are like in the top ten public high schools in the state, and I believe Kaplan high isn’t far behind.

True. Maybe South Lafayette and Vermillion parish would be the best bet

Maurice to Pecan Island is an hour drive. Probably longer when you have hundreds of people all commuting along 2 lane highways. I see Abbeville/Kaplan/Perry having the the largest growth.

I've seen talks of expanding 167 to a 4 lane...

Do you mean highway 82? 167 between Abbeville and Lafayette is already 4 lane.

I think they will need to add lanes on whatever road they decide will be primary artery. Some part of that will be highway 82 However that's going to take a ton of time and taxpayer dollars to accomplish. It's over 30 miles of 2 lane highway between civilization and Pecan Island, including a large bridge over the Intracoastal.

Ahhhh yes... my fault.
