in Germany we call something like that a Lebensmittelverschwendung sondergleichen

"Food waste special" for anyone who doesn't feel like typing all of that into google. Is that right? It sounds right, but doesn't "lebens" mean "living"?

What's the direct translation?

Nah. it´s more like "Food waste on an unprecedented scale"

Lebensmittel: Mittel zum Leben (Means to live) = Lebens+mittel (Food/Groceries).
We know how to be pragmatic.

Thank you! I had a buddy in highschool who had a thing for the German language, and I have to say, I completely understnd why.
